We stayed three nights in the tower room (quite larger than photos convey) and cannot speak highly enough of our experience. An absolutely exquisite castle hotel in every respect. Hands-down the most personal resort experience we've ever had. The entire team totally delivered the royal treatment, and we felt more like we were cherished family than guests. The pristine grounds are tranquil. The spa, pools, and fitness room are all exquisite. And the restaurant -- there is simply no substitute. Dining anywhere else was not even a consideration. Truly an amazing stay. Old-world style and comfort. We felt instantly at home and in a bubble of relaxation. A short walk to the center of the historic river promenade. Other guests were so interesting and friendly. We will most certainly visit again.

This hotel is LOVELY! The views are terrific. The grounds are beautiful. There are so many places to sit and relax. It is extremely clean. David, Daniel and Sonja do a wonderful job welcoming. The breakfast is great as were the dinners. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff are willing to allow me the time to practice my Italian with them. The spa looks amazing. I would highly recommend staying here. I know we will when we return to this area. It is fantastic.

I stayed one night with my wife in a double room. The room was basically clean (there was a long spider web and dust of about 10 cm in the bathroom) and can be considered a normal room, which does not justify the high cost. The two swimming pools and the wellness area with sauna and Turkish bath available to guests are appreciated. I booked a 90-minute treatment (Rasul Haman) at the spa for my wife. Apart from the mix-up with the booking time, which was changed more than once without even being notified, my wife would have liked to add another treatment, but they did not have any other appointments available. Nevertheless, they reduced the time of the booked treatment by including the second one, but leaving the price of the first one unchanged and adding the second one, which was possible thanks to the sale of creams (paid for in cash). Finally, it is curious that the hotel's website advertises the GOLDEN AUTUMN IN MERANO with a 15% discount on accommodation (see the section SPECIAL DEALS of the hotel portal) , but when I asked for the discount by email, Mr David replied that “we are currently in peak season”, which is rather bizarre for October 11! We booked half board with dinner included; the meal was plentiful, and I did not fully appreciate everything (the risotto, for example, had a lot of liquid in the dish). In conclusion, I think the value for money is quite low, mainly because the cost is too high for the quality of the room and the food.

We spent five unforgettable days at Rundegg – hands down the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The staff and the food were absolutely top notch.
We’re already planning our return.

What an utter gem! David and his top-notch team lead an exquisite hotel with great care, having thought through every detail of the guest experience. The building itself — an historic castle — is beautiful and well-maintained, surrounded by a stunning garden with a pool and mountain views. The food and drink are excellent. The spa is the perfect spot for a restorative break. David and the staff are so helpful in offering recommendations and doing whatever they can to facilitate a relaxing stay in Merano. In an era in which so many hotels have turned into sterile corporate carbon copies of each other, Schloss Rundegg offers a refreshingly unique experience. We look forward to returning as soon as we can!

Booked last minute and received a price around €150 incl breakfast which is excellent value these days. Loved the park, the outside pool, the outside lounge. The inside pool and the rooms are a tad on the older charming side, but this is typical in all of Italy, and especially in castle hotels. We were very happy with our stay.

Lovely historic hotel with fantastic views and extremely courteous staff.
Wonderful outdoor pool and a convenient indoor one for bad weather.
Breakfast and dinner were top notch, made even better by the historic interior of the dining hall.
It’s very close to the center, but removed just enough to not be disturbed by constant foot traffic one sees in the old town quarter.

Castel Rundegg is an old fashioned hotel in the very best sense. It is a beautiful building in a most beautiful town, with comfortable public areas and spacious well appointed bedrooms. Those who are looking for discos and fast food options might choose elsewhere, but it does offer superb cuisine, stunning gardens and an old world elegance. It also boasts extensive pool, sauna and spa treatments. We look forward to returning there.

We had another fantastic visit to this most wonderful hotel, our first since the pandemic. David, Daniel, and their staff have done a magnificent job of not only maintaining their superb level of service but have also managed to make noticeable yet subtle improvements to their excellent service. Their restaurant is Michelin Star worthy to include their generous breakfast buffet that is included. I can’t say enough about how great the Hotel Castle Rundegg truly is!

The place to stay in Merano. Approximately a 7 minute walk from downtown, along the river. This is a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. The amenities: pool, sauna, whirlpool, are great. The staff is courteous and goes out of their way. Parking is free and right outside. My room was in the Castle proper but i've stayed in the annex as well. When in Merano stay here. Prices are very reasonable.
