Best Hotels in Nakano

The morning buffet was delicious and I was very satisfied! I was also able to easily enjoy the orange juice and self-service coffee at the front desk, which was great. I was able to start my day feeling refreshed.

Hotel route in central Nakno this was an awesome place to stay we used this hotel as our base for the week, with several ski resorts to choose from, within 30 minutes or less drive away, the staff were friendly and helpful, willing to go the extra mile to ensure that your stay is a memorable one, rooms are standard size, with mod-cons split system air/heating USB ports for charging up electronics etc...

No issues ba ourr check-in, where they couldn't find our booking made month earlier via trip. com and kept us waiting in the foyer for 90 mins

This location is also good for driving out to the various ski resort in Nagano

The welcome drink, apple juice, was delicious. The self-service coffee was also delicious, thanks to Doutor. Breakfast was also very good.

Great no frill hotel with clean and functional room for a comfortable night. The location is good if you are driving and many restaurants and supermarkets are all within 10 drive away

The Yumoto Ryokan is great for a stop to relax a bit. One gets access to the 9 Onsen in the village and can take a dip in every one, or take a small hike to see the Japanese macaques that like to relax in an Onsen

Best part is the private onsen. Pick up the key for private onsen from reception if it’s there and use for up to 30 mins at a time. Go back again as much as you like

Worth every penny, beside the awesome amenities I was led to expect from description, the staff was also extremely welcoming and went the extra mile - the proprietess even drove us to the train station in the morning.

Generally, the provided food was delicious and rooms where clean, spacious and quite the experience, with Tatami floors. One really felt like transported back in time and as a traveler in the past

6 hours drive in, we arrived at hotel at evening after flight, looking forward to a nice dinner after a full day of driving to Nagano, only to be coldly informed that dinner time was finished one hour earlier 5:30-6pm! Who gives 30min timing for meal?!?! I mentioned normal meal time for dinner is 6-8 or even 9pm for all hotels I’ve have been to all over Japan

We were cold, tired and hungry and had no choice to accept the misfortune until we moved to the neighbouring hotel next day, and noticed the stark contrast -the bustling hotel DID HAVE NORMAL meal times from 6-8:30pm

But front desk staff replied nonchalant that this was “countryside” in Japanese and claimed it is strictly past dinner time at 7pm with no solutions and option of refund for the dinner we paid for but didn’t get

It was about $180 for per room which is even more expensive compared to next hotel 20m away, unfortunately they were booked out in the first night. So had no choice but to book this place upon arrival in Haneda

Breakfast and dinner only in a half an hour timing slot. There is also a limited check in time which wasn’t indicated during reservation, not sure whether to blame hotel or trip

We highlighted that the timings were never mentioned in the booking and we are not informed of the early dinner timing. Hotel staff claimed that they do not deal with Trip

As like everywhere else in Japan, the people are incredibly nice

The rooms are all on the B1 floor. The corridor is dark and a bit depressing. Fortunately, each room has a window and a view of the courtyard. It may be because of the hillside. The hot spring bathroom is small and good.

We were welcomed with kindness and hospitality. They brought our luggage to the room, provided us with yukatas and offered amazing traditional food. The private baths were the highlight and we will miss them greatly

This is a traditional onsen hotel with an antique charm. The staff provided excellent service, being very polite and even seeing us off at the door when we left. We ordered their dinner, which was exquisite and delicious

A hakuta is provided and the onsen was relaxing. The location is about 10 minutes walk away from the railway station. We had dinner at the ryokan the second night and the set Japanese dinner was excellent

As it was an insensitive, there was only a toilet in the room - all showering had to be done downstairs in the onsen. Onsen was boiling hot - too hot for most of our group

Their outdoor onsen is beautiful during snow. But the place is old but well maintained. And for me, unlike other reviews, nobody offered me transport to the monkey park, they said no staff

This place was a very cute, homely, with a family owned ryokan vibe. We had a nice spacious room, the biggest we had in our whole trip to Japan, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains

Tawaraya is a very nice Ryokan and Onsen in the small town of Yudanaka. While not very distinctive from the outside, the interior is very quaint

There are both a male and female only indoor onsen where you can shower and bathe from 1600 - 0900 daily. In addition there is a beautiful outdoor onsen surrounded by rocks and a Japanese garden

The temperature of the onsen is perfect. Hot enough to be comfortable, but not too hot so you can't stay in! There are also slightly cooler sections of the pool or areas to sit partly out of the water if desired

Go down the hill to the SE 1 block, turn right at the first traffic light at the bottom and then 2 blocks to find it on the right. There is the name in English on the door. The staff also speak English

, plus an additional hot-pot you use to cook an additional dish provided. Very yummy and filling (and I'm not usually a fan of Japanese breakfasts - but each one we had was different and satisfying)

The facilities are a bit old, and the public bath's hygiene was just so-so. The location is good, but dinner was also mediocre.

The room was very large and comfortable. What made the place great was the ping pong table, mini pool table. Once you understand the onsen process it is pretty easy. Note: restaurant is by reservation only

It's also possible to extend your stay for 1000 yen per hour, which is super convenient when traveling with a child. The hotel corridors aren't perfectly clean due to age, but the room itself is clean and pleasant

Yoshi san and Seongmi san are the most helpful and friendly hosts you can wish for. Yoshi san is born and raised in the region and literally knows every corner and can tell you where to go (and where to avoid)

You can tell the owners love and care for the hotel. It is also nice and warm and perfect location to get the bus and visit the snow monkeys. I would recommend it to everyone as it's also a good price for the area

This hotel is very proximity to the Onsen Street and very Good in the town, clean and big room, very good service (staff can speak english). And they serve a very high quality of dinner

Beautiful inn in a wonderful location (seriously, the rooms are beautiful). The family that runs the inn is wonderful and kind, and the inn is small enough that I had the on-site onsen all to myself every time I used it

The only thing to be aware of is that this ryokan is not located in Shibu Onsen. If you are looking to visit all 9 onsens in Shibu Onsen you will not be able to get a key from this location

Views from the rooms were amazing. Breakfast was slightly lacking compared to other onsen hotels I’ve stayed at. But dinner was really good! The onsen were clean and spacious. Staff were all polite and helpful

Very old hotel. It located walking distance 10 minutes to the Yudanaka station. U can ask hotel to pick up/drop off . Have outdoor & indoor onsen. Breakfast & dinner was very delicious

The WiFi was good enough for a Microsoft teams call with zero lag whatsoever. I had a wonderful stay here and if I am back in the area I will stay again

The onsen was extremely hot and had an absolutely gorgeous view. The older couple that runs it were incredibly kind and hospitable to me, including a shuttle to the Monkeg Park and Yamanaka Station free of charge

The heating in the hotel room was insufficient; we relied on a small heater at night, but couldn't leave it on while sleeping, which made it extremely cold

This hotel is nestled in the mountains, surrounded by numerous ski resorts and offering both indoor and outdoor hot springs

The hot spring baths are beautiful and well-maintained, and the hotel is just a few minutes' walk from an ancient hot spring town, which was exceptional for an evening stroll! The traditional breakfast was served in a splendid private room and was absolutely delicious!

We didn't expect the hotel to be so lovely! I believe it was recently renovated, and it was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. The very kind staff welcomed us with yukatas for a true cultural immersion

The dinner was exceptional and we dont think that we have ever experienced as many courses before. Their best quality sake was extremely smooth and a bargain it just over 3000yen

To get back down there are plenty of buses but just check the timings, and if you are travelling to Nagano have a look for the express bus which takes you direct from the monkey park to negano station for 3000yen Nb you can book all the bus tickets down at main bus stop below the monkey park entrance way

The elevator was excellent, making it easy to move luggage without carrying it up and down. The parking was also very convenient and close by. The food selection was plentiful

Because it’s not one of the Ryokan in the village itself you don’t get to do the 7 onsens in the village but the hotel has 2 very nice onsens that you can experience the hot springs naturally (indoor and open air)

Exactly what you would expect. Tatami mat rooms with shoji doors. Dimly lit halls with wood floors, steep staircases and dusty old mementos on display. The halls and any room without a hearer were incredibly cold

Excellent Ryokan located in the center of Shibu Onsen, right at the bus stop. The hotel is very typical and traditional, run by the Takimoto family. The private Onsen are excellent and very well maintained

When we came back from hiking and our dirty shoes were wiped clean when we went to the shoe cabinet the next day, the driver who picked us up finally dropped us off at the station and stopped to teach us how to buy tickets

The onsen in the hotel is small, but very hot, dilute with cold water, otherwise you can scald yourself. The staff are foreigners, speak excellent English

All of them are awesome and there is no need to reserve, we tried all 6 of them + the 9 public baths in Shibu Onsen nearby. The meals are very good, great service and hospitality

We stayed for 2 nights at a room without bath. When we arrived we were a bit concerned because it looks old, but after settling in we found this ryokan to be excellent

There are many baths to choose from here, so you have lots of options, but I highly recommend getting a room with a private bath so you can hop in and out as much as you like! The food was excellent traditional Japanese style and they give you so many different dishes to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming, but everything is delicious

1 of the evening there was a geiko performing show, we had such a good quality time

One of the things I especially appreciated was that the entire building has tatami flooring, so there is no need to wear slippers. It felt very relaxing and comfortable to walk around barefoot

In the morning, they kindly drove us not just to the bus stop but all the way to the entrance of Jigokudani Monkey Park. This allowed us to avoid the crowds and reach the park comfortably

Nice little hotel and the food is amazing, easy parking and money worth

When a taxi booking to Shiga Kogen fell through due to heavy snow, the owner personally drove me there, which I deeply appreciated. He also printed out the bus schedule and made sure I knew exactly how to get back

Awesome location for visiting Jigokudani Park (snow monkeys in hot springs) but otherwise isolated. The room was very spacious, especially considering i was a solo traveler

Finally, while this is close to shibu onsen, it is not part of it and shibu onsen is about a 30 min walk away and you don't have access to the public baths there (to do the 9 bath crawl)

The private onsen attached to the room was unexpected and must appreciated. The food was the highlight of my 2 night stay

Also the building is pretty old with commensurate insulation so i was pretty cold all the time except for when i was cozy in my futon or in the onsen (and for about 30 mins after)

I'd been to other food forward ryokans elsewhere before and while they were fancier, the food at Jinpyokaku Honten was better or maybe just more suited to my tastes
