The Yumoto Ryokan is great for a stop to relax a bit. One gets access to the 9 Onsen in the village and can take a dip in every one, or take a small hike to see the Japanese macaques that like to relax in an Onsen. The hotel has a private Onsen which is great if you wanna share the experience with a partner and also a public Onsen, which I liked the most from all the public Onsens in the village. It was neat and clean. Generally, the provided food was delicious and rooms where clean, spacious and quite the experience, with Tatami floors. One really felt like transported back in time and as a traveler in the past. It was really an amazing experience and I would recommend it whole heartly to everyone. Also great price quality ratio.

Worth every penny, beside the awesome amenities I was led to expect from description, the staff was also extremely welcoming and went the extra mile - the proprietess even drove us to the train station in the morning.

Really lovely location. Best part is the private onsen. Pick up the key for private onsen from reception if it’s there and use for up to 30 mins at a time. Go back again as much as you like. It’s a really really hot spring, but there’s a cold water tap and it’s really tranquil and pretty.

We had a fabulous stay. The staff were incredibly welcoming and incredibly accommodating of our young family. The private onsen was absolutely dreamy. We particularly enjoyed the traditional breakfast and thoughtful touches such as tea on arrival.

I genuinely cannot recommend this place more! If you’re thinking about staying in the town to try all the hot springs , or traveling to see the snow monkeys this by far is the best Ryokan in town! Without a shadow of a doubt. If you’re going to stay anywhere in town, choose Yumoto Ryokan! It’s so dam easy to get to aswell as it’s at the center of the town and it’s so homely and pretty.

The family that runs the inn are incredible, the food they serve is the best and most authentic I’ve had in Japan, and it’s one of the coziest places to rest and relax after a day of hiking and adventuring in the beautiful town.

I’ve never booked via trip.com so was nervous incase the ryokan didn’t receive my booking, however as soon as I arrived they knew exactly who I was and showed me to my amazing room.

Fr can’t rate it higher. 10/10 place if you wanna go to a Ryokan go here and support this awesome inn.

The public bathhouse was broken, so we couldn't shower at all, which was terrible. We had to resort to soaking in the private hot spring instead. The private hot spring had a queue, and guests needed to make reservations for each room. It was very inconvenient; we didn't get in until 11 PM. I think I read in previous reviews that it had been broken for a long time, and it's strange that it hasn't been fixed yet.

A very cozy and charming old-fashioned inn. The room was super warm thanks to the little stove. The landlady was incredibly kind and welcoming; she picked us up from the station and even took us to see the monkeys. We had such a lovely chat with her! It was only a two-day stay, but we left feeling so happy and had a wonderful experience. The inn is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, making it easy to get to the monkey park and go skiing!

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed every moment. The hostess is incredibly welcoming and a genuinely lovely person — she even kindly drove us to the train station, which we deeply appreciated.
The breakfast was outstanding, and the onsen was beautiful and very peaceful. Having a private onsen was especially convenient, as it allowed us to enjoy the experience together as a family without needing to separate.
Our room was very spacious and authentically Japanese, with excellent-quality bedding. The mattresses, pillows, and high quality shits  were exceptionally comfortable and made for a perfect night’s sleep.
A lovely touch was the complimentary milk served in adorable small glass bottles — delicious and charming.
The location is simply ideal: perfectly situated near public onsens and great restaurants, truly the best location one could imagine.
We would happily return and highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for comfort, authenticity, and warm hospitality.

The lady boss of this Ryokan is very friendly and welcoming, we enjoyed her hospitality. It was snowing on our second day and the garden view from our room was nice. Unfortunately the inhouse onsen, was under maintenance on our 2nd night onwards, only couple onsen was open.

The breakfast was served in our room and dinner was at nearby local restaurant in Shibu.

Overall a privately run set up but we enjoyed our stay.

The experience was wonderful! The landlady was incredibly attentive and friendly, helping us settle in and explaining how the onsen town worked. She even gave us some fruit as we were leaving. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, and the ryokan's own onsen was one of the best in the area. Plus, we had free milk available near reception.
The reservation included free breakfast, and it was truly delicious. It was a traditional Japanese breakfast, and we loved the experience, although we felt it was served a bit early, at 7:30 or 8:00. Overall, it was one of the best accommodation experiences we had in Japan.

We stayed for a night and the service was very good. The staffs are polite and very accommodating. The overall place was great. As, I can feel the traditional ryokan atmosphere. Food, staffs, cleanliness, accessibility is excellent.

The staffs also tried to communicate in English for us to understand better.
If you want to experience ryokan, onsen, and wanted to visit the snow monkey park. Go visit this place. They also offer free shuttle service to a private onsen and to the snow monkey park.

I really had a great time staying at Koishiya Ryokan. It was really one of the best moments in my life. I can’t wait to visit Shibu Onsen again and stay at this ryokan. They were very accommodating and friendly. They even assisted and drove me off to Jigukudani Monkey Park as I wasn’t familiar with the direction. That time I felt shy for asking to drop me off, but without a second doubt, they willingly did. Thank you Koishiya Ryokan for the pleasant service. I’ll come back again. ☺️

It's a very nice place to stay a night or two. Traditional Japanese accommodation was new for us but we enjoyed kimonos and neighboring baths in the street. We often remember that experience.

Worth the money! Free shuttle to the monkey park and free onsen as well (both public and private onsen)
