Clean, friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. No issues ba ourr check-in, where they couldn't find our booking made month earlier via trip.com and kept us waiting in the foyer for 90 mins. Theneventually was 'offered' it definitely seemed somewhat begrudgingly a twin room, instead of 2 singles. As paid for month ago.
I refused and demanded what I paid for, 2 single rooms, which they eventually relented...
The morning buffet was delicious and I was very satisfied! I was also able to easily enjoy the orange juice and self-service coffee at the front desk, which was great. I was able to start my day feeling refreshed.
The smoking room smelled terrible.
The welcome drink, apple juice, was delicious. The self-service coffee was also delicious, thanks to Doutor. Breakfast was also very good.
The food is delicious. I like that the bath is spacious.
Very comfortable and clean. The service staff is very kind and will provide toys to the children when they see them making noises! I thought it would be the worst during these days of travel, but it was unexpectedly clean and comfortable! The room can accommodate 2 large luggages!

The Yumoto Ryokan is great for a stop to relax a bit. One gets access to the 9 Onsen in the village and can take a dip in every one, or take a small hike to see the Japanese macaques that like to relax in an Onsen. The hotel has a private Onsen which is great if you wanna share the experience with a partner and also a public Onsen, which I liked the most from all the public Onsens in the village. It...
Worth every penny, beside the awesome amenities I was led to expect from description, the staff was also extremely welcoming and went the extra mile - the proprietess even drove us to the train station in the morning.
Really lovely location. Best part is the private onsen. Pick up the key for private onsen from reception if it’s there and use for up to 30 mins at a time. Go back again as much as you like. It’s a really really hot spring, but there’s a cold water tap and it’s really tranquil and pretty.
We had a fabulous stay. The staff were incredibly welcoming and incredibly accommodating of our young family. The private onsen was absolutely dreamy. We particularly enjoyed the traditional breakfast and thoughtful touches such as tea on arrival.
I genuinely cannot recommend this place more! If you’re thinking about staying in the town to try all the hot springs , or traveling to see the snow monkeys this by far is the best Ryokan in town! Without a shadow of a doubt. If you’re going to stay anywhere in town, choose Yumoto Ryokan! It’s so dam easy to get to aswell as it’s at the center of the town and it’s so homely and pretty.
The family...
The public bathhouse was broken, so we couldn't shower at all, which was terrible. We had to resort to soaking in the private hot spring instead. The private hot spring had a queue, and guests needed to make reservations for each room. It was very inconvenient; we didn't get in until 11 PM. I think I read in previous reviews that it had been broken for a long time, and it's strange that it hasn't been...

It was a great experience. Will return one day
Polite and helpful staff, there was an excess of wonderful food and a great view. Our room was clean and spacious but a little dated with an unusable stove that could be removed for luggage storage. The 3 baths were all well kept and felt quite private, 2 are outside. I Recommend driving here, there is a great waterfall not far but otherwise mostly farmland within walking distance. I would love to...
The rooms are all on the B1 floor. The corridor is dark and a bit depressing. Fortunately, each room has a window and a view of the courtyard. It may be because of the hillside. The hot spring bathroom is small and good.
Really scenic, beautiful surroundings. Excellent food.
Highly Recommended for a Traditional Japanese Stay
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was my first experience at a ryokan. Mainly chose this place because it is reasonably priced with private onsen and shower. The ryokan has both public and 3 private onsen. The private onsen goes by a simple manual reservation system by writing your name on the whiteboard outside the onsen if the onsen is not available...

The hosts were extremely polite and welcoming. They explained all the house rules in detail and kindly recommended great places to eat nearby. The place was spotless, warm, and very comfortable for an overnight stay with my husband and our two kids. We would definitely come back. We would have loved to stay longer, but we had to return to Tokyo right away to catch our flight.
The staff (owner?) was friendly and spoke to us in English. They had a place ready for our luggage before check in so we could go to the Snow Monkey Park first. We enjoyed our traditional stay. The hot spring is very hot! I only stayed in for two minutes.
Incredible outdoor onsen and cozy traditional room
Great calm community.
Wonderful hosts.
Property would need a little TLC.
Traditional Japanese inn with beautiful garden & 3 onsen. Appreciate snacks left in our room. Ryokan is 2 min walk from Yudanaka station with eateries within walking distance. Warm & friendly staff.
We really enjoyed the experience of staying at the ryokan.
Friendly hostess, neat house. We were treated to tea and buns. The location is very convenient, near the train station.
There is a very beautiful pond with koi fish in the yard.
We enjoyed the experience of the public bath. There are 3 baths in the ryokan: 2 public and 1 indoor. I visited one public, the pool was outside, which created an...

The room was very large and comfortable. What made the place great was the ping pong table, mini pool table. Once you understand the onsen process it is pretty easy. Note: restaurant is by reservation only. Dinner snow crab dinner is worth the price. Open bar. Also cash only needed do the hotel tax due at arrival.
The reality exceeded my expectations; the hotel was even better than I imagined. The room was very comfortable for a family with a small child! There's a private hot spring for families available by reservation, though the usage time is a bit short, it's still great overall! The food is high-quality, delicious, and varied. It's also possible to extend your stay for 1000 yen per hour, which is super...
We really enjoyed the ryokan; we stayed for one night. The dinner buffet was particularly great, with crabs, fish, hot pot, beer, and sake. Breakfast was also quite good. The rooms were standard. There's an onsen, and we booked a 30-minute slot and went right away. I didn't get a chance to visit the public baths.
I was there for a ski trip, and the hotel's location was quite convenient for driving.
However, I stayed at this hotel for 8 nights, and I found it incredibly hard to understand why the breakfast and dinner were exactly the same every single night, with no variation or novelty whatsoever.
The hotel facilities are very old. The outdoor onsen for showering was extremely cold, to the point of being unbearable...
The facilities are a bit old, and the public bath's hygiene was just so-so. The location is good, but dinner was also mediocre.
Not a comfortable at all. Bed is hard. Big onsen pool serves only for ladies. For man, both of private and public pool are small. Dinner variety is looked much but no suprise in taste.

Very good ryokan, friendly owner, near to Snow monkey park, good view
I was later than their last check in and they accommodated me and even made a multi course traditional Japanese meal at 9pm, the food for breakfast and dinner was delicious. Great onsen and dinner
The room shows some age but it’s comfortable. The public onsen is very good with an indoor pool and an outdoor one for both men’s and women’s spas. We have the half board option with our room. They serve our dinners in a private room. The food was great and staff were friendly. Breakfast was served buffet style and has a good variety of food. They also offer rides to Snow Monkey...
Rooms were clean, towels and japanese robes replaced each day. The onsens were clean, the outdoor one was usually empty, just for me. The gentleman at the reception was accommodating to us and gave us a few rides from the hotel to different locations (station, monkey park).
The hotel is nice with a decent traditional breakfast spread and beautiful onsen, but the actual hotel is outside the shibu onsen city so it is impossible to go into any of the 9 hot springs except 1. We had to find another room at a hotel nearby to get the key for the onsen.
2 nights in Nagano
Stayed 2 nights to rest and recover before going to Tokyo. The hotel was a short walk from the station with idyllic scenery with beautiful Sakura and mountains.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a very traditional japan Ryokan, even if the building is old. The owners were super polite and always servicial and open to help.
Excellent Ryokan located in the center of Shibu Onsen, right at the bus stop. The hotel is very typical and traditional, run by the Takimoto family. The private Onsen are excellent and very well maintained. Everything perfect, top welcome and services! We went during the winter with snow and we did not suffer from the cold inside the rooms. Very good and very rich dinner!
It's still good. The room is big. I missed dinner and asked for a long time, but they still made food and put it in the room. Although the B&B does not have a car to pick up, it's still okay. The room also has a private bath
A family-style hot spring hotel, clean and well-managed, with an open-air hot spring. The spa facilities are a bit old and mineral, but the water is very pleasant.
The room was extremely spacious and kept us warm even at -10° outside thanks to extra heaters and cozy futons provided. Our private outdoor onsen was very warm and could be used even during coldest times (you can easily add cooler water if you feel like it is too hot). Fantastic hospitality from the staff. They were very helpful in getting us together whenever we needed help. One can ski in and out of the hotel right onto the ski hill. It is a short walk to the main bus depot, where the rentals are. The public bath (onsen) was wonderful post ski. The food was wonderful. And, there is free laundry.
The room had a nice view, and the breakfast was Japanese. It was about a 5-8 minute walk to the bus stop, with some ups and downs, so it was quite easy to walk without ski equipment.
Right next to the ski resort, but it's a bit difficult for beginners to enter the ski resort. The hotel is a bit old, breakfast and dinner are OK, but the hot spring is a bit average. Overall, it's ok to stay.
A good choice for ski accommodation, close to two bus lines to Yudanaka and Nagano. Ski directly to the ski resort in the morning. Walk back from the Shiga Kogen station in the afternoon in 5 minutes.
Japanese-style rooms have tatami mats on the floor, which is a bit difficult to get used to. Fortunately, the hotel upgraded me to a twin room. This hotel is a few hundred meters away from the cable car. If you can slide, you can slide directly from the small path next to the hotel to the cable car.

The restraunt had some nice food and the fire place was very nice when there was a snow storm. The rooms were nice with thick blankets and before bed I watched some of the sumo wrestling. It is nice to have the snaw and ski runs next door. The snow was perfect.
Real ski in / ski out accommodation. Great staff and good food for a very reasonable price. Relaxing onsen inside the hotel. Children are welcome and they are treated really well. Thank you to all the staff for their kindness, we had a great stay.
Just on the skifield, one minute away from three lifts. Good onzen
Wonderful stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice hot spring in the house. Lovely food and desert. Good rental snowboard gears. The staff had a very good service attitude and provided assistance when an accident occurred. They were happy to help communicate with different local agencies and help follow up on the support services requested by the insurance company.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Silk. The facilities were good and the staff were pleasant. The room was large and there was a courtesy bus to get to the lifts. very efficient and well organised hotel around the ski-onsen experience. Large rooms.
This is an older, but well renovated hotel near the slopes. It’s an all-in-one hotel too, with a convenience / souvenir store and a massive onsen (with sauna). There's a lovely onsite bar and Matt the barman was super friendly and had a great playlist! Breakfast is good...

This hotel exceeded our expectations; it was fantastic. The room we booked, which included dinner, was quite good. Since we stayed at another hotel before switching to this one, the comparison and experience were quite significant.
Facilities: Very good, and the management is also excellent.
Cleanliness: Clean.
Environment: Super close to the ski resort, right across from the cable car, and there...
Hotel is very old. Rooms are basic. Shared bathroom is also crowded.
However location is excellent! Directly opposite ski lift. And ski rental can be found within the hotel

This hotel is right on the slopes! Make sure to book your ski rentals in advance, as you can't rent them on the spot without a reservation. Once reserved, they'll deliver your gear to the hotel's basement, which is super convenient. You can change in the drying room, store your belongings, and have your ski equipment looked after. Renting for a day lets you enjoy both night skiing and a full day on...
A rather dated hotel but very good location and excellent service from the staff. The clean tatami-style rooms are comfortable and has ample space.
Located right next to the Ichinose Family Ski Area and local instructors are available for ski and snowboarding classes.
The location is very convenient, just outside the ski resort

Yamanouchi, Shiga Kogen Ichinose 🧭 Map
It's located right next to Ichinose Family Ski Resort, so it's easy to walk to the ski resort and ski right to the hotel on your way back. I took a bus from Nagano Station, and the Ichinose bus stop is also nearby, which is great. The building is old, but the rooms have been renovated and are very new and comfortable. (The TV was large, which is unusual.) The food was a buffet, so it was neither good...
Very basic, but has everything covered. Large onsen bath on-site. Dry rooms for equipment. Only about 60 meters from closest run, and nearly ski in/ski out. The ladies at the front desk were extremely attentive, spoke decent English, and cheerful. It has the best selection of restaurants in the area, with four in the hotel. I tried three of them, all excellent meals. Only complaint was I needed three...
Came over for some shabu shabu. Dinner was great, but a bit pricey. Nothing to shout about, but decent and a good change from the dinner at our hotel. Service was great at the restaurant, book on advance as they are full often.
Friendly helpful staff, close to ski chair lifts, clean
A very old hotel that seriously needs some refurbishment. It provides a very basic need to people who wanted to skii. Most staff don’t speak English.
We stayed at the resort with a plan that included a lift ticket. When we arrived, we unloaded all our luggage from the trunk into the luggage storage area, and a staff member drove us to the parking lot, where they picked us up after we parked. The slopes are practically right in front of us. We received our lift ticket at the front desk in the morning, so there was no hassle. The room was a Western...

Skiing in Shiga Kogen, you're right on the gondola, hahahaha.
Breakfast and dinner are included, so don't worry, the dinner was delicious.
The only downside was the lack of WiFi in the room.
The room is big. The service is good. Dinner is ready when you come back from skiing.
You need to book breakfast and dinner! Otherwise there is nowhere to eat, the hotel's dinner is very good! I went skiing specifically, right in front of the Ichinose Snow Resort, the location is great! The hotel has history!
It is very convenient to ski, ski-in, ski-out, and rent skis. Although the quality of the skis is average, the price is affordable. You can exchange ski tickets across the street. What I am not satisfied with is the breakfast, which is too American. There is nothing to eat, and there is no food after 8:15. I stayed for several days and the bacon was gone every time. The good thing is that the dinner...
The hotel facilities are relatively old, and the only difference is that it is located next to the Ichinose cable car. The hot spring is only open in the afternoon, and the breakfast is average. It is not recommended.
The impression of this hotel is very special. The old man at the front desk is very friendly. Although we don't speak the language, he still tries to help us solve the problem. The location of the hotel is very good, ski in and ski out of the ski resort.

The hotel is clean, nice view from the room. Ski in ski out is very convenient, locker is big enough to store 3 sets of equipments. Main drawback is no more free shuttle from the hotel to Ichinose starting March 22 and limited dining places in the hotel.
Good location, but small and old room. Overall still quite good. Recommended for ski in ski out
Everything is find and meet our expectation. Ski in ski out the hotel, free locker, also have onsen. No adverse comment and experience. It’s much convenient if you drive to hotel. Not much F&B choice. Ski gears quality are quite good in hotel rental shop. Room is small if u choose the cheapest type of room. However, it is worth to stay.
Had a nice experience here. The rooms had heating and windows that could open, which was great. There was hot water for showers whenever we needed it. We stayed for 4 nights in total and the rooms were cleaned on two days. If you need more towels on the non-cleaning days you can just ask the reception. The staff there were very helpful too.
One thing that wasn’t great was that the room lights were...
service and environment is good, however too expensive, i would expect better facilities for this price
The ski-in/ski-out access at this hotel is incredibly convenient. The hotel also boasts a wide range of facilities. After a day of skiing, you can relax and soothe your tired muscles in the hot spring. Everything was great, except for the limited selection at the hotel's convenience store.

A Japanese Australian gave me excellent advice. Spend the w/e’s in Tokyo and on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning take a bullet train to one of the 100 to 200 ski resorts by bullet train 2 hours outside Tokyo and you will have the place to ourselves. So we spent 5 days in this hotel & loved it. We enjoyed an empty hotel, zero queues, excellent snow. 90 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo and...
Mostly good experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The French restaurant was delicious. And it was great that there was a ski rental and storage right inside the hotel. Added to that, the convenience of skiing right to the lift is heavenly. The bar/ lounge was chill and cozy. However it either seemed there was a shortage of staff, mostly new staff, or both. The mandatory dinner...
This is my second visit. The hotel is stylish with three decent fine dining restaurants, of teppan, French and Japanese. The wine list is very extensive with lot of Bordeaux and Burgundy wine. The staff are very helpful, especially Yuka who is smart and helpful to reserve the dinner for us though we were late to the hotel. This year, we stay in the new wing and the double room is clean, spacious with...
Good service, room facilities are a bit old
It's the serenity of the location, waking up to fluffy snow falling and the snow filled trees and mountains seemingly right outside your window. Due to being at the end of the line for the ski resorts at Shiga Kogen it has it's advantages and this is one of them. You get first snow as everyone else on the mountain takes their time to get over to Okushiga. Hotel staff are great, you get to know...
Third time at this hotel and it’s still the Best. Ski in ski out fireplace pianist recital every night. Great food in the Japanese restaurant and okay in the French restaurant. Worth getting the better than average rooms and pay a Yen more. Special commendation to the Reception Desk staff and especially Yoshi-san. Yoshi-san provides impeccable, comprehensive and most importantly friendly service...

Nozawa Onsen, 389-2502 Nagano, Nozawa Onsen, 4998-1 Toyosato, Japan 🧭 Map
Ski lodge situated at the top of Nozawa Onsen village.
The lodge comprises a dry room, lobby, dining room and TV area on the first floor. All guest rooms are on the second floor.
Rooms come with breakfast and the hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the gondola, into the village and pick up and drop off for check in and check out.
The rooms are spacious with luggage and hanging space. The breakfast is...
We had a great time at Altitude Nozawa. One of the chair lifts is just next door so it’s very easy to come and go to the mountain. I believe you’d have to still go to the gondola station if you were looking at buying the tickets everyday tho. Our room was spacious and had a private bathroom. No fridge or kettle. Boiling water is available in the breakfast room all day. The drying room is phenomenal...
Location is great between the courtesy bus and local shuttle buses it makes easy to get around. I personally found everyone extremely helpful as I was injured in this trip and they have really gone out of their way to assist me! Spacious common area to play a family game or have a drink together. Thank you to the team @Altitude Nozawa
Wonderful place in a perfect location very close to town. The scenery was fantastic.Rooms well heated, great lay out and lounge area - I felt so relaxed there. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Night shuttle bus service and hot brekkie also a huge plus! Absolutely recommend. Thank you Altitude!
Hotel staff are mainly Australians, and the guests are also mainly Australians. We felt we were in Australia rather than in Japan! 😀 Hotel served basic western breakfast only. No Japanese food was served. Hotel Staff provided good service. However, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. The desk in the room was very dusty (see photo). The toilet was also dirty, with stain in the toilet...
We had a great stay at Altitude. We had five people sharing two rooms each with three beds which is a bit squishy but apart from sleeping we didn’t spend much time in the room. There is a large communal breakfast and lounge area which doubles as a bar at night. Staff were very nice and helpful and in the absence of the free shuttle bus the town provides (this only started on 23/12 - bus stop is right...

Nagano, 2071-1, Oki, Nakasenda 🧭 Map
A great place to stay. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. The service is excellent. The hotel is a bit far from the station which is about 30 mins walk. As I stayed during the new years’ holiday, public transport is a bit hard to get. Overall, would recommend this place.
We went skiing in Nagano Prefecture and stayed one night. The seafood restaurant next to the hotel was pretty good; you could try it. The only downside was that, as is typical of Route Inn hotels, the large public onsen (hot spring bath) only had a men's bath, no women's. My wife and two daughters were very unhappy, feeling it was blatant gender discrimination.
It's just okay. The only downside is that you have to walk outside to get to the hot springs, but it's clean and reasonably priced.
Onsen / izakaya / staff - they are just gorgeous friendly and helpful and enjoy every seconds
The hotel service was excellent. When I checked in, there was only heating, but the staff kindly provided a fan. A washing machine was available, which was very convenient. The breakfast was average, but filling. Overall, a good hotel and worth staying at.
The reservation went smoothly. The only disappointment was that the large public bath was only available to men.

Myoko, Sekigawa 643-11 🧭 Map
Fantastic authentic Ryokan with lovely outdoor Onsen. Drop and collect you from any nearby ski field in Myoko. I would return here. I left my kindle behind and am struggling to get in contact to get it back please! Have tried email and phone. Please reach me on sophwestgarth@gmail.com or WhatsApp +64276880505, would really appreciate it!
Very clean. Older but charming. Exactly what I wanted. Delicious restaurant on site to use if you get snowed in or just want a fantastic meal. Onsen was also great.
Very old ryokan, even the wallpaper fell off here and there, but feels quite original and ancient, the onsen too, I wouldn’t rate it as a super good stay, but for the price, I would say it is quite worth it
Myoko Onsen, where Kofukan is located, has many abandoned hotels and buildings, and only one restaurant was open. It's easily accessible, just a ten-minute walk from Myoko Kogen Station, and the hot spring water is gentle on the skin, so I'd like to return.
Come here for the best experience. So cozy. Small mountain town. It’s not the four seasons, it’s much better. Family owned. Lowkey. Come and enjoy yourself.
Absolutely amazing stay! The onsen is incredible. The room with a mountain view was fabulous. So quiet! Incredible dining options a few blocks away. Just wow. The 4th generation owners are the kindest hosts. The free shuttles to ski and to the train station are so convenient. You are lucky to stay here.

Central apartments staff so friendly Jess was lovley could not do enough for you. Very clean great location to ski feild restaurants. Starter pack for breakfast was a nice touch eggs bread cearl .Ski hire down stairs so easy to organise your hire.
Very friendly, great breakfast. Fantastic gear room, very close to onsens and the Swiss bakery
Friendly staff. Good facilities and close walk to lifts.
Villa Nozawa was a really great place to stay for the few days we were there. Prices are cheap when considering there are ski lift packages, and rooms are a very comfortable size. There is a communal kitchen that you can use from 12 to 8pm and a communal fridge where you can keep your food. They provide breakfast which varies every day and can be Western or Japanese, and also have tea, coffee, hot...
