I believe this “No.2 ranking hot spring in Kofu” is a big lie. This hotel is one of the worst and the dirtiest I’ve ever seen in Japan. Both the guest room and the hot spring are super dirty, full of stains on the tatami mat, I was shocked. I won’t be surprised if cockroach or rats would show up somewhere in the room at all. The hotel itself also looks like a ghost building even from the outside. Very suspicious. I would highly suggest everyone not to come here at all.

I'd always been interested in radon hot springs. It has a retro Showa-era feel, and the clientele is on the older side. The guest rooms are old, but well-cleaned. Everyone seemed to be relaxing and enjoying the radon baths. I'm not there for any medical treatment, but I'd like to go regularly to maintain my health. I stayed for one night from a weekday to a Saturday, and the only places to get dinner were chain restaurants, and it's a bit of a walk to the nearest convenience store, so be aware of that.

This review is based on my winter 2025 stay. It may vary depending on the date, time, and circumstances, so please use it as a reference.

A recommended stay is for those who "hate crowds," "are bothered by others when resting," and "can't rest in fabric reclining chairs."

If those three things don't bother you, the spacious grounds and a variety of chairs, from plastic to sofa-style, make daytime bathing a good value.

The power-saving system after 11 PM is easy to access, and the radon system shutting off seems well-thought-out, since it reduces door opening and closing. (As far as I know, it was bubbling until just before midnight.)

Since it's a 100% natural hot spring, even just bathing can have a positive effect.

I think it would be better to save money and use it for repairs and other expenses. Raising the entrance fee would probably make it possible to provide facilities that everyone is satisfied with, but even considering the costs, this was a great place that conveyed the desire for repairs and a comfortable stay.

The walls were thin, but I felt they were weak from side to side but strong from top to bottom. While walking down the hallway, you can hear conversations on the TV and the hair dryer. It's not a problem once you're in your room, but the alarm is clearly audible, so if you want to relax in the morning, please use the earplugs provided in your room.

The thing that bothers me the most is the door opening and closing. I felt bad for those around me, so I didn't go back to my room after 10 PM.

I also quietly left my room to take a morning bath, but the iron door would always get caught, causing noise and vibration.

The facilities are gradually being updated (air conditioner/toilet/shower, etc.), so I think they're working hard to come up with solutions that are difficult to address immediately.

There were very few things that would be convenient but were a real problem if they weren't there, so I had a comfortable stay.

Areas I'd like to see improved:
Door opening and closing
I wish the room curtains were washed.

★It all depends on the morals of others.

The facility sends notices and emails before your stay instructing you on how to bathe in the hot springs. Even so, it's unpleasant to see regulars continuing to talk to each other or putting their hands in the bathtub after blowing their noses.
Also, since most of the people we talked to were older, we talked about health, but I left wondering how younger people taking toji baths would feel.

One of the advantages of staying overnight is being able to stagger your bathing times, but I felt it would be terrible if you had to bathe multiple times on a day trip. Still, there was a sign saying "silent bathing," so the facility was accommodating.

From here on, my thoughts are as follows:

- Trains between Kofu Station and Ryuo Station are infrequent, so be careful.

- Irrigation channels are everywhere, so you might fall in if you're walking while looking for dinner. There are no fences, so be careful if you're walking while looking at your smartphone.

- I want something to scrub, but it dries out my skin, so maybe washing with foam is better.

- Rinse-in shampoo lathers well. Hairbrushes are only available in the changing rooms.

If you're concerned, bring your own treatment and hairbrush.

I'm not a fan of hot springs, saunas, pools, or especially wet foot mats.
However, I had no choice but to come here because I still had whiplash from an accident.
I was a little worried, but I came for the purpose of a hot spring cure, so I'm very satisfied. It was a wonderful trip where I was able to fully feel the effects of the hot springs! I plan to return so I can sweat more and also to regulate my autonomic nervous system. Thank you very much.

A very comfortable place to stay, and very clean.
The staff was amazing with us, we had to cancel our last night and they did everything to help us, even though we couldn't speak in Japanese, they treated us very well and were helpful.

It was helpful that check-in time was okay until midnight. I also liked that the hot spring was okay for 24 hours (except for cleaning).

The facility is quite old. They promote the radon contained in the hot springs. After bathing in the radon hot springs, I was able to fall asleep easily and sleep soundly until the morning on some days, so it may be effective.

The facility is very old, but we were treated like relatives and were able to stay comfortably.
