Nippondaira Hotel in Shizuoka

The stunning lawn and Mount Fuji views are breathtaking, and the lobby and rooms are beautifully elegant. Breakfast is also delicious. Waking up early, bundling up, and taking a stroll around the lawn is the perfect way to start a vibrant and refreshing day.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful! It's located on top of a mountain, but there's a convenient shuttle bus from Shizuoka Station. The views from the room are stunning, and the large lawn feels so soft underfoot. It's a shame the weather wasn't great on the day we checked in, so we could only see a hazy Mount Fuji. The next day, the clouds were too thick, offering a different kind of scenery. Overall, it's a highly recommended hotel. The breakfast was decent, and the room was spacious enough.

My first time in Shizuoka Prefecture, and I spent the first night at the Nihondaira Hotel.

Walking into the lobby, there's a huge glass curtain wall directly ahead. If the weather is clear and visibility is good, you can see Mount Fuji in the distance. Even every room faces Mount Fuji. At the foot of the mountain are Shimizu City, home of Chibi Maruko-chan, and Miho no Matsubara.

When I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, it was overcast, and Shimizu City wasn't visible due to heavy fog and humidity. I was really hoping for clear skies the next morning. And my wish truly came true! At 5 AM, a thought flashed through my mind, I woke up, pulled open the curtains, and although the sun hadn't risen yet, a blush appeared in the southeast. Looking straight ahead, in the distant sky, a massive silhouette appeared – that was Mount Fuji.

Alright, I'm content. Hahahaha~

Staying at this hotel, you can completely, completely relax. You can lie in your room and zone out, or stroll on the huge lawn in front of the hotel, watching the shimmering lights of Shimizu City at night.

The booking price included dinner and breakfast. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Dinner was a French set menu (Menu in pic 7). For an additional 1600 yen, I upgraded to Japanese-produced Wagyu beef, which I highly recommend. It was grilled perfectly, locking in the pinkness, and the texture was tender and fresh both inside and out. For breakfast, I recommend choosing the Japanese set meal, as online reviews say the Western breakfast is terrible.

The room offers an expansive view with stunning scenery! You could easily spend a day relaxing on the lawn. We were lucky enough to catch an evening event, so we enjoyed beautiful fireworks from our room's balcony every night. The sunsets and dusk were absolutely breathtaking from the room.

The hotel thoughtfully added an extra bed for our child and provided kids' toiletries, which was a nice touch.

The front desk service was excellent, and their English pronunciation was very clear.

The hotel mainly caters to Japanese locals, with rooms featuring both Japanese and Western styles. The environment is quiet, comfortable, and very peaceful.

The traditional and elegant hotel perched on a hill offers an extraordinary experience with breathtaking views, including the iconic Mount Fuji. The quality of the cuisine and service is impeccable, and the facilities are top-notch. This nature-rich location makes you want to bring someone special.

Make sure to check the shuttle bus schedule in advance; you can catch it from either Shizuoka Station or Higashi-Shizuoka Station. The scenery is spectacular, and the breakfast is plentiful.

Very nice view and landscape even though the hotel room is looking a little bit old design. The breakfast was very nice and many varieties at buffet line.

Excellent stay, regretted not getting a room with mt fuji view. You can see the entire fuji san with city view in foreground on clear day, very impressive. Go early for breakfast if you want to get the best seats just by the glass. Room is clean and well appointed. Staff are helpful at check in. The lawn is amazing with a view to die for. It was chilly and super windy when we went on 16 March.

Seeing the spectacle view of Fuji Mountain was such a nice experience. The hotel provided bath salts and all necessities in the room. The receptionist was very helpful. We enjoyed a perfect moment in the restaurants of the hotel. The Japanese restaurant Fukkian was especially nice for the free breakfast included! Worth a try!
