Gora Hanaougi Madoka No Mori Guest house in Hakone

A ryokan that even the locals enjoy! It was an amazing experience staying in Madoka no Mori - from pick up at Gora station to the check-in, we were looked after. I was with my partner and accompanied by family members as well (their first time in Japan). The service was impeccable - communication was excellent, facilities were top-notch and the care we received was nothing short of amazing. We would definitely go back again in the future! The availability of your own private onsen in the room with hot spring water was so worth it. Great selection of seasonal food during dinner and breakfast. Staff very flexible in assisting our travel plans the next day as well.

Given that it's located in the higher areas of Hakone, it does limit ability to get to the hotel unless you have a car. However, there is a shuttle available to pick up guests. Only thing was that our group got a questioning look from the driver initially when we approached the shuttle saying we had a booking. It wasn't until they saw our names on the list of guests that they happily helped us out. It did affect the initial feelings we had with the ryokan.

Service was absolutely top notch. The hotel was beautiful, but showed some small signs of aging. Onsen was everything we hoped. Own bath in the room and an open-air public bath. Would love to visit again in the future.

Thanks to you, we had a truly wonderful time. The room and all the facilities were excellent, making us feel incredibly comfortable.

Here, I would like to offer some feedback to one of the female staff members in charge of food and beverage service. We were deeply moved by her genuine effort and dedication. At the same time, for her future development, we would like to offer a few suggestions:

1. Regarding plate placement: We suggest placing plates with food in the center of the tray or serving board, as this will look more aesthetically pleasing and presentable.

2. Regarding clearing tableware: Before serving new dishes, we suggest clearing all used plates and utensils (starting from the left or right side) before serving new dishes, as this will make the process smoother.

3. Regarding rice and miso soup: Asking guests if they would like more rice or miso soup before adding more will make the service more considerate and attentive.

Being foreigners, we weren't overly demanding about the details of service, but this level of service might be met with very high expectations from Japanese guests.

Nevertheless, overall, the stay was perfect and became one of our fondest memories.

Absolutely stunning location and amazing service. 10/10 would stay again

We arrived at Gora Station and called the hotel to pick us up. Initially, we were a little disappointed with the hotel's facilities, but after checking in, we found that the service far outweighed the amenities.

Our server was a 26-year-old woman named Yokoyama. Her English wasn't great, but her smile and service were impeccable—she was incredibly charming! I think it was because of her that I was so satisfied with the hotel!

The service was really great. We had service throughout the entire stay. I called the hotel and they would pick me up at Gora Station. The room had a private bath, and the toiletries were of high quality. The public bath was also nice, and the kaiseki cuisine was delicious! I will definitely book again.

Stayed 1 night at this fantastic hotel with a nice in room onsen. The dinner was great and there is a nice bar downstairs (although we weren't able to go to as advance booking is recommended). The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend taking the train directly to the station near the hotel as it is a very scenic. Would love to stay here again.
