We booked 2 rooms And got caught out big time, We Did not realise this was partly a Budget Hotel.
First shock, No Lift from the car park, So had to lug our bags up steep steps.
We then found wo were booked in a part of the Hotel,,,, With NO Lift,!!!!!! And there was like 20 + steps to room.
Then Found the rooms are for Dwarfs, Yes the doors are like 5"6 high Unbelievable.
Then to make it worse, Silly me, i had booked shared bathroom, But thats not the Bad bit. THERE IS NO SHOWER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Not in the last 20 + Years has this happened. In the land of Magical toilet seats, This is unbelievable. In the end we swapped the 2 tiny rooms for a larger double, And put 2 extra mattresses on the floor,,,,, Just to get a shower. But got charged another £40
On top of that Breakfast is 5X more than we paid in the last 3 Hotels... AVOID, Theres Nothing good to say about the place. Fortunately The Hotel 500 meters away, Is pretty good, We stayed there last week

We had a lovely time here! We were travelling by public transport, and this spot is a little of out of the way, but they sent a shuttle to the train station and it was easy to arrive. It was not clear from their website that the restaurant would not be open for dinner, and the closest restaurant by foot (other than McDonald's) was a 30 minute walk away. That was no problem; we had a nice walk, a great dinner, and really loved the onsen!

At the pool, there were two staff members (unclear if they were lifeguards or simply receptionists) who spent their time chatting at the top of the stairs and only handled reception duties. We were informed that the shower in our room might not have hot water, but it thankfully did. All four sets of sheets were riddled with holes, and for that reason, I will definitely not be returning. I believe there's a clear distinction between an 'old' ryokan and a 'dirty' one, but this establishment unfortunately fit both descriptions.

This is the worst ryokan I've ever stayed at.
It's located on Sunhwado Road, so it doesn't feel like a ryokan at all.
The rooms are very old and not very clean.
The food is so cheap that I felt neglected at both breakfast and dinner.
It felt like a ryokan struggling to stay afloat due to its small number of guests.

Most of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. However, I was really looking forward to using the sauna, but it was either broken or simply too cold to use. That was a significant letdown.

It was an old building that was okay but not well-maintained. The staff were very helpful, kind, and friendly, despite their limited English. The great bonus was the onsen (hot spring). The room was very big—almost three times the size of other rooms we stayed in during our visit to Japan. However, the location was not good at all, being next to a busy highway and very far from the old town or Nara Park.

The page says there is a sea view room, but it actually has a mountain view. Although there is pick-up and drop-off at the station, the pick-up and drop-off time is stipulated. It is not very clear without marking it. It's too far from the station and far from the scenic spots.

Americans beware, this hotel is nowhere near advertised. It's very very far from Nara Park, the shuttle does not pick you up from the train station as advertised and only runs a couple times a day. Hospitality is sparing at best. The entire hotel smells like cigarette smoke and looks like it's still stuck in 1962. The room I was given was terrible and not clean, smelled of cigarettes. Terrible experience would not recommend to anyone.

The entrance to the highway is close and the walls of the rooms are thin, so the noise is quite loud. The staff are polite or rude, depending on the person. It was nice to be able to use the hot spring for free, but it was difficult to have a toilet, bathroom, or washbasin in the room.

Absolutely, you should stay here! I recommend paying extra for the food too because it was really great Buffet style where you could sample many types of unique Japanese foods.

The photos of the Onsen represents exactly what the female section looks like, I read some comments that it doesn’t look the same in person but I think that’s because the men’s one is different.

The hotel is a little far from Nara Park considering it’s not on a train line. There are buses but the hotel provided a shuttle to and from the park upon request and a shuttle back to the train station to leave Nara. They even give you cookies for the deer.

I made all the reservations and my friend really loved this one because she said it was less tourist and more unique like a local would do.

The onsen was liberating and the city is great. Highly recommend
