My boyfriend and I stayed here 4 nights two months ago for our anniversary. We couldn't have dreamt of a better "home" in Kyoto, especially after reading 'In Praise of Shadows'. The suite was to die for: beautiful decoration, comfortable futons, an amazing heating system... What I loved the most, however, was the shared bath tub! And it's worth mentioning how helpful and kind Hazuki-san is, we couldn't have imagined a better host. Thank you for everything, your guesthouse was the highlight of our days in Kyoto. We wish to return in the future!

Couldn't have found a better place in the heart of Kyoto. The owner is amazing and very helpful for everything, location is perfect for exploring on foot. Highly recommend this ryokan for your stay in the city.

This was the perfect place to stay for our four nights in Kyoto. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that is close to many dining options and sites, but also close to public transportation if you need to go further.
The building itself is historic and beautiful and the owner is helpful and friendly. When I asked about shipping our bags ahead he said to just leave them in our room with an estimate of the cost and he’d take care of them. He did and put the change in an envelope in one of our bags.
Also offered to run us to the train station, but we were leaving too early.
The only reason not to stay here is if you are a noisy group! The way the building is constructed you can hear people in other rooms. Not a problem for us.

We spent a few nights at Hazuki Kyoto and it was a pleasant experience. We were able to appreciate the beauty of a traditional Japanese house renovated with care and respect: tatami mats, wooden ceilings, paper windows. The location being 2 steps away from the river adds to the charm. We slept comfortably on futons resting on heated tatami mats. The room was cleaned daily. There was a bit of a lack of storage/hanging space for clothes but we knew we were having an experience in a non-typical establishment. And after all, even in standard hotels in Japan it is not common to have wardrobes, so it was just fine! The owner could speak English and was extremely kind. He gave us helpful recommendations and, after checking out, he even offered to drive us to the station from where we would continue our journey. I would definitely recommend Hazuki Kyoto.

beautiful property. we had the traditional room with tatami floor. It was so comfy as it has floor heat on the floor. it is in a quiet residential area, you do need to walk about 5-10 mins out to the busier dining area. the share bathtub is a piece of art. a kitchen to share and you can leave your items in the share fridge. Owner and staffs are always helpful and they also arranged the luggage delivery for us. Highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible stay here. About a week before our stay we were contacted by the property and given instructions on how to get to the location as well as given instructions for the taxi driver to understand.

On the day of our check in we were contacted by whatsapp (which was amazing as we did not have cellular data) with instructions on how to find the location and check in.

Staying in an traditional machiya was a fantastic experience. The rooms were al individually air conditioned and the were big size for two people. Great location, we were able to walk to all of the places we wanted to visit

We stayed here for a week and it was just lovely. I cannot express how beautiful the inside of the inn was, you can tell they put a lot of thought into the visual appeal - elevated traditional Japanese style with all the current amenities one might need.
The staff were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond multiple times for us.
The surrounding area is a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood but only a 20 minute walk to the train line.
Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who is considering a stay in Kyoto!
