Kyoto Takasegawa Bettei in Kyoto

This is the best place I've stayed at so far in Japan. It's indeed pricier than regular hotel, but you will get a modern ryokan experience with private wooden bathtub that is very nice. I choose the western breakfast option and it was amazing. Staff are very nice and helpful, they even give me a heatpack after check-out since it's still cold outside. I don't really mind it but the location that is not really close to a train station, there is bus station nearby though. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kyoto to try the different type of room!

This is a beautiful, luxurious, and calm ryokan experience. We miss the bathtub already! Our room also had beautiful views.

The hotel is located on the banks of the Takase River, about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. It's quiet and convenient. The rooms are cleaned daily and are very tidy. A soak in the cypress bathtub is very relaxing. The Kamo River is just a short walk away, and the popular breakfast spot Cafe Amazon is also nearby. Overall, a very satisfying stay.

We really enjoyed the Japanese vibe, the cultural atmosphere was felt. Would 100% recommend anyone who wants to stay in a calm place, but very close to popular amenities.

If you want to truly experience Kyoto, I highly recommend this hotel.
Situated between the Kamo River and the nearby stream, you'll enjoy the sound of the water and the tranquility of the surrounding area.
It's about a 20-minute walk to tourist attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kyoto Station, and Higashi Honganji Temple, and also about a 20-minute walk to restaurants like Nishiki Market and Kawaramachi. The location is a bit tricky, but it's a great option for those who enjoy walking.
The Japanese breakfast was a bit disappointing if you only tasted the food, but considering the price, it was quite good.
The best part, however, is the staff's service, which makes up for any shortcomings, and the cypress bath.

It was truly an incredible experience, from the impeccable welcome to the spacious room and the charmingly beautiful bathroom.

I 100% recommend it if you have the budget; you absolutely must try the wooden bathtub and the queen-size bed.

Such a beautiful hotel. Check in was very easy. The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. We visited in winter so they gave us hand warmers on our way out for the day. The bathroom/bathtub was exquisite. My only complaint is when I booked the breakfast they didn’t give me the option for Japanese breakfast so I had to do that once I checked in at the hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Kyoto station is only short walk away and there are lots of little shops around. Definitely recommend to anyone coming to Kyoto. Loccitan amenities were just extra plus. Please do try green tea in the room.
