Haifu in Shima

Outstanding customer centric, and very good food and table service. Highly recommended

A while ago, we visited here on the second night of our Ise-Shima trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. My wife had planned the entire trip.

We had stayed overnight in Ise the night before, and on this day we visited the Outer Shrine in the morning and had a relaxing break at Okage Yokocho. After filling our stomachs, we took the Kintetsu Line to Ugata.

We boarded the shuttle bus to the pier. It was a five-minute cruise, but it was full of atmosphere. The hotel is luxurious, with open-air hot spring baths in every room. It was a bit too much for a poor country couple, but we were relieved to see that the other guests didn't look particularly wealthy. There was no dress code, and we were allowed in in our tracksuits.

We relaxed in our room, soaking up the heat, and then it was time for the long-awaited dinner. We had already been drinking in the room, but we started with a toast with an aperitif.

After the hors d'oeuvres, fresh sashimi was served. There was even a spiny lobster on display. Afterwards, meat dishes and even tempura were served, and the feast was so intense it was like torture. Finishing with oyster rice and dessert, I was so full (satisfied) I couldn't speak!

The next day, I continued soaking in the baths from morning to night. Looking back, I regret not taking a morning walk, considering we'd stayed in such a fantastic seaside location.

Breakfast was a lavish buffet. A beautiful mix of Japanese and Western cuisine was served, with a multitude of fresh ingredients, and once again I was so full (satisfied) I couldn't speak.

I took one more bath before checking out, then took a five-minute cruise ship ride and a shuttle bus to Ugata.

With ocean views from all rooms, an open-air bath, and a feast of delicious food,
it was a very satisfying facility. I'd like to save up some money and return.

We visited as a couple.

While the island has a rich history, it's currently very peaceful and you can stroll around the beach and other areas to yourself.

The boat ride took about three minutes from the dock on the opposite shore, docked at the pier in front of the hotel, and checked in. It reminded me of Porco Rosso.

Our room had an open-air hot spring, and it was well-maintained.

Dinner was also quite filling.

The spiny lobster was very chewy and fresh.

Some dishes were a little over-seasoned, but still very satisfying.

Breakfast was also very delicious.

On the negative side:

- Quite a bit of noise from the neighboring room.

- Difficult to adjust the temperature of the open-air bath in the room.

- The tricky rule of not letting the water in the open-air bath overflow (the best part of a hot spring is having it overflow the moment you get in...)

Overall, we were very satisfied.

Including the island's atmosphere, I'd give it 5 stars.

An inn where the only means of transportation is by boat. Travel by ferry. A luxurious hot spring ♨️ inn. Travel by ferry that can be called whenever you like. There are no restaurants for lunch on the island. The spiny lobster is delicious!

This trip was a family trip with my family of four. I have been to Mie Prefecture several times in the past, but I always stayed in Toba or Osatsu, so this was the first time I went all the way to Shima. The inn I chose for this trip was "Haifu", a hotel on the remote island of Wataranoshima, where all rooms have an ocean view open-air bath. Actually, this "Haifu" was a hotel that I had been very interested in when I was looking at other accommodations when I stayed in Mie Prefecture in the past. However, I thought it was a bit far to go to Shima, so I didn't make a reservation, so I chose it as my accommodation this time. It was such a long-awaited "Haifu", and in conclusion, staying there was a great decision! First, when we arrived at the parking lot of the inn, we were guided to the nearby pier, and from there we boarded a private ferry to the inn on the remote island across the shore. At this point, there was a sense of excitement that I didn't get at other inns, and my children were very happy. The whole facility was very clean, and there is a large public bath between the inn and its sister inn, Fukujuso, next door. The corridor connecting the two was very tasteful, and there was a beautiful garden, so it had a very nice atmosphere. This time we stayed in a 12.5 tatami room, which was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. We could see the ocean from the room, and there was a large private open-air bath on the balcony of the room. It was great to be able to enjoy the open-air hot spring bath while looking at the ocean whenever we wanted, and we took a bath both at night and in the morning. Also, meals were served at the restaurant, and dinner was served as a course, but the sashimi, soup, fish dishes, and meat dishes were all very delicious, and the children were very happy to eat. In this course, we had a plan to prepare a private room for dinner and breakfast, so it was very nice that the children could play there if they got bored. This time we only stayed one night, so we checked out the next day, but next time we would like to stay for a few days and explore the island. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Great and fresh food. There 21 rooms altogether in the hotel and the dining room is spacious for the guests. The big bath area is good with an open area. There is staff speaks good english.

I will be visiting in January. It started to rain as soon as we arrived at the parking lot, but the bus sent us to the boarding area. Thank you very much.
It is one of the few types of accommodation where you can go to the facility by boat.
I stayed on the 3rd floor, but I was able to enjoy the extraordinary scenery and silence and was very relaxed.
Fortunately, the weather was bad, so it was great to have a bath in the room!
We also used the large public bath and the private bath. Although the facility is old, it was clean and comfortable. However, it is a pity that the open-air bath had a strong chlorine smell.
The staff were weeding outside and I had a good feeling ☆
It was a hotel that made me want to come again.

We used the special room. The open-air bath in the room was large, and it was comfortable with yukata, pajamas, and bathrobes.
In advance, I was asked what I didn't like and what I couldn't eat. There is even baby soap, and the staff are very friendly and considerate, and I thought it was wonderful.
As for the meal, assorted platter with spiny lobster sashimi, is this enough for 2 people? ? So many and gorgeous. The steak and steamed spiny lobster were all delicious.
On the way back, we waved goodbye until we could no longer see the ship.
I was satisfied with the service, food, bath, everything.
However, the oil massage, which is one of the pleasures of traveling, has no music, the scene and the quiet atmosphere, at that level, I thought that 15,400 yen including tax for 60 minutes was impossible. I've had beauty treatments at many hotels, but this was the first time I've been to a salon where there was no music playing. It's a shame because I believe that relaxation is not only provided by massage, but also by soothing music and scents.

I was able to meet another good inn. We stayed as a couple.
Take a ferry to Watashikanoshima. This made me feel like I was away from the ordinary.
The person who greeted us at the lobby with the image of Bali was polite, and the employees were pleasant throughout the stay.
I stayed in a Japanese-style room of 12.5 tatami mats, but it feels clean and well-maintained. It is quiet and you can see the sea from the open-air bath in the room.
It was a full moon, so it wasn't a perfect star, but we did see a shooting star. You can watch the sunrise in the morning. You can see the first sunrise of the year from the open-air bath.
The hot spring is rather hot, so adjustment is necessary. I would have liked to have had a thermometer.
The food was really delicious and filled me up.
I was able to relax and have a good time. I would like to come again.
