MaYaGuSuKu RESORT in Iriomote

I had an incredible stay in this hotel despite of my stay in Iriomote being abruptly shortened by a nearby typhoon. Tome is an incredible host and very friendly and welcoming. He picked me up at the ferry terminal and helped me with making reservations for izakayas and giving me tips on where to go. He is probably the best host I had during my entire trip in Okinawa.

The room was big and spacious with very comfortable beds and a big living room and terrace with beautiful views. The atmosphere is so warm that it makes you feel at home and in paradise. The breakfast showcases some local dishes and it was very tasty too.

I can’t wait to go back to Iriomote and spend more time here again. Arigatogozaimasu!

It's quiet and in a wonderful location, just a 3-minute walk to the ocean. The view from the balcony is amazing. The room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. Above all, the owner's hospitality is fantastic. Snorkeling on the boat was really fun. I would definitely like to stay here again.

Had an unforgettable stay here over Christmas 2025. A rare beautiful and unique hotel. You could sit on the veranda and hear the sounds of the jungle and the roar of the sea. An incredibly nice and thoughtful host. When I had forgotten clothes in the wardrobe after checking out, the owner drove down to me with them and I just managed to get them before the bus was due to leave. Absolutely incredible. Can't recommend it enough.

What an amazing place. The apartment is roomy and very comfortable and has a big balcony with a breathtaking view, over the garden and bay and also the nights sky. It is great to have a couch in the living room to relax and the bathroom is big with a nice shower. The owner is very kind and helpful and knows just enough English to be able to arrange everything you need. There is free snorkeling gear, which we used for Ida beach, and we also did a snorkeling tour with the owner which was great. We got a private tour to some very nice snorkel spots with no other people/boats around. Saw a lot of sea turtles too! The location is great, as said with a gorgeous view. Having a car is recommended though as this makes getting around on Iriomote much easier. Cant recommend this place enough!

We were able to enjoy a very relaxing holiday.
We were very impressed by the owner's hospitality, which was full of service spirit.
We stayed as a couple, and they even changed our twin beds for double-sized beds.
We are very grateful that they noticed and changed it even though we hadn't asked.
I would like to stay at Mayagusuku again the next time I visit Iriomote.

The following is my own personal opinion, but Iriomote is not a resort, but a World Heritage Site where you can interact with nature.
The place itself is not suitable for those with a bubble-like desire for a luxurious vacation in a resort.
I would highly recommend this place to those who enjoy travel that is considerate of the island, its people, and the environmental workers who aim to protect nature.

I usually choose only cheap inns and stay there I saw the inn's homepage and was thrilled by the sense of the explanation and the image I wanted to stay here by all means, but at first I thought about going to Hoshino Resort, but consult and consider with my partner I was able to stay for two nights. Normally, it is said that the inn is limited to 2 groups a day, but due to the corona, it seems that 1 group is accepted a day, so it was full of private feeling with our charter. The image on the internet was a little uneasy until the building looked old, but it was so good that I was glad I decided according to my intuition. We were blessed with the weather on the day, and we were impressed by the panoramic view of nature from the large terrace of the room on the 2nd floor. .. .. Dangerous. The room is also divided into a living room & kitchenette, a bedroom and a bathroom, and if you include the room and the terrace, it is a space with a feeling of openness of about 60 m2! !! !! !! wide! !! It's too wide. .. .. Moreover, it is beautiful and chic. Is it good from the price? ?? ?? It's so wide and made from furniture etc. I felt it was clean and tasteful. After all, all of this can be reserved. For example, a long-established pension in Karuizawa with a view of the sea or a Bali resort in the 90's? ?? ?? Is it like that! ?? It's just my subjective impression. .. .. .. By the way, I have never been to Karuizawa. What was also surprising was the space with the entrance and the stairs. The public space with the bookshelf that went up the stairs [I'm glad that there are several umbrellas in the umbrella stand] [Traveler's Bible! ?? I remember that there was a late-night limited express on the bookshelf, and I thought that various other things were beautiful and new. The garden is also very large and the lawn is well managed, making it a pleasant garden. It's the best! !! !! I thought that the kindness of the owner was reflected in everything. I am very happy that I was able to make such wonderful memories at this price on Kakusai Iriomote Island. At night, it was pitch black, probably because there were no buildings nearby, and I was amazed at the cluster of stars watching from the terrace. It was a moonlit night, but at midnight the moon disappeared from view and the stars were beautiful. Lying on a deck chair with your partner, while drinking alcohol, the dark stars, the tranquility of the stars, the cry of creatures, etc. When you soak in the cells and feelings, can you call it the heartbeat of the primitive age in your body? I was able to experience a mysterious and valuable experience that cannot be experienced in the city, and I had the best time. In the morning, take a pleasant and elegant time with coffee and bread bought nearby at the terrace table and take a walk on the Tsukigahama through the beast road where you can go down to Tsukigahama. We monopolized the beach. During my stay, I was treated by the owner's older brother, but it was also an important factor that I was able to respond politely and had a good impression. This time I asked for a stay without meals, so I didn't have much to do with it, but since I'm going to the beach, I can lend a snorkel set and bath towels [towels always smell good] for free, and 300 washing machines. There is a charge for yen, but they kindly responded to the loan. We could rent a bicycle, but we didn't rent it because we were renting a car. By the way, there aren't many street lights around the inn and it's dark, so it's not rented out at night. I thought it was convenient because it was close to Tsukigahama, Hoshizuna Beach, Unarizaki Park Observatory and a popular restaurant. One last thing I regret is that I didn't eat at the main dining room of the inn. I'm sure you can spend a luxurious and abundant time. .. .. .. So, if I go to Iriomote Island again, I would like to ask for a meal next time.

I visited the inn that I had taken care of before. The interior feel and cleanliness are very nice and relaxing.

When the sun isn't shining / the weather, it's a good idea to spend time in a lying chair on the balcony. The moon is far from the beach, but you can see it well.

You can enjoy the nature of Iriomote Island by feeling the mountains and forests rather than the location with a coastal cover like the Iriomote Island Hotel. If you open the window, the wind will blow through and you will feel good.

In terms of other equipment ...
Comfortable with 2 air conditioners (It is better to let in the outside air during the season when you don't use it!)
Refrigerator, kitchen, tableware, basic cooking utensils available
You can rent a washing machine (charged)

(Speaking of luxury, I want a washlet ...!)
