While the overall hygiene was good, the 'living' experience was a bit inconvenient. First, to leave the hotel, you have to go from your room on the third floor up to the lobby on the ninth floor, and then take another elevator down to the first floor. Also, the washing facilities are on the seventh floor, so you have to keep going back and forth.

The staff were great, they slid me a room even though I had left my passport behind. Did laundry, ate dinner at the supermarket across the way, slept well, ate a decent breakfast (included) and rode off into the morning. It's inexpensive so temper your expectations and you'll be OK.

It is a little far from Ibusuki Station. I took a taxi from the airport. The Smile Hotel was so well-known that even the driver knew about it. There are no photos of the hotel interior. Located in the bar district, it's convenient for arriving in the evening, allowing you to enjoy Okinawan cuisine and leave your luggage there. I was a bit sleep-deprived from the snoring, but other than that, it was comfortable.

It turns out that each 9 Hours hotel has different rules. This one requires you to return the key card when you leave each day, and then tell the staff your room number when you return in the evening, and she will return the key card. This wasn't required when I stayed at the 9 Hours Shinjuku in Tokyo.

It's quite close to the international convention center, about an 8-minute walk. It's also around a 10-minute walk to Nakasu Subway Station. The area is relatively quiet. Check-in is on the 10th floor, where you can also pick up toiletries. For check-out, you can just drop your key card in the box inside the elevator.
