Hotel Sambancho in Matsuyama

We stayed at Hotel Sanbancho for 2 nights after completing the Shimanami Kaido to rest and visit Matsuyama. It is a large and luxurious hotel with onsen baths, but has rooms at affordable prices. The late check-in (from 16:00) is very convenient for arriving late.

We stayed in a room with a comfortable double bed. The hotel provides pajamas, face and body towels, a safe, a kettle with cups, small plates, tea, and coffee, a laundry machine, a mini-fridge, and a TV. The bathroom has a bidet toilet, a shower, a bath mat, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face/hand wash.

There is a men’s bath and a women’s bath. There are small lockers, drinking water, showers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There are two hot baths and a cold bath (not very cold).

In the hotel lobby there is a counter with free amenities such as coffee, tea, face and body lotion, bath salt, hair bands, sunscreen, razors, etc.

There is a shopping gallery with many restaurants and a Don Quixote (open until 2AM) just across the street. It is a 10-minute walk to the moats of Matsuyama castle, and a 6-minute walk to the bus stop for Matsuyama Airport Limousine. It’s a 5-minute walk to the nearest tram station Otemachi.

Since it was right next to Ookaido Street, finding dinner was no problem. Having a large public bath in a business hotel was a big plus. Breakfast was also very good. It was a really great hotel considering the reasonable price. I would like to stay there again.

The room is very small. It's so small that you can't even properly open a single suitcase. Also, the atmosphere is zero, though the bed is comfortable and spacious. I really liked that the family bath was free, so I could enjoy the hot springs even with a tattoo, and I appreciated that drinks like orange juice were free. I recommend it for a one-night stay at a low price.

During my recent trip to Japan, I had the pleasure of staying at a hotel that also serves as a wedding venue and from the moment I arrived, the level of service was simply impeccable. The staff were not only gracious and professional, but also went out of their way to assist me at every turn, despite my lack of Japanese language skills. Their warm hospitality left a lasting impression and made me feel truly welcomed and cared for.

Though the room was compact, it was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully arranged. As a solo traveler, I found the space more than sufficient — cozy, comfortable, and a fantastic value for the price. It truly struck the perfect balance between affordability and quality.

A special mention goes to the amenities: the hotel provides a well-stocked amenity station at the reception, where guests can freely pick up whatever they need a detail that reflects the hotel’s attention to guest convenience.

While the location is a little removed from the city center, this wasn’t an issue at all for me, as I had a rental car. The added bonus? Free parking on-site, which made my stay even more convenient and budget-friendly.

Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in so many ways. With its blend of elegant ambiance, exceptional service, and thoughtful touches, it became a peaceful and comfortable base for my journey — one I would gladly return to and wholeheartedly recommend to fellow travelers.

The breakfast was nice. A large range of choices.

The price-to-performance ratio is good, but the bed and pillows are very uncomfortable. However, it is worth it. Don Quijote is nearby, and there is a yakiniku restaurant and Okaido Street next door, so the location is the best. The bathhouse uses hot spring water, but it has a lot of water, so it has a slight hot spring smell. But it was still good.

The room was bigger than I thought. I don't know why there was a sofa, lol.
Breakfast was delicious.
The public bath was nice, too.

Overall, I am satisfied. The location is good because it is close to the city center, there is a large bath so you can relieve fatigue, and the breakfast is good value for money. If you use it without cleaning service, they will refund 600 yen. The ramen in the vending machine in the lounge is cheaper than at the convenience store.

The location is good, I like they have parking but there are only a few places. They need to extend the parking space. I like the verity of food in buffet for breakfast but I think it should be chipper and more sweets for dessert.
