I stayed at the hostel for a total of 7 nights.
The hostel is really nice and the rooms are quite clean and spacious.
The washrooms are clean and dry all the time.
My experience with the staff was also nice.
The only thing that bugged me during my stay were the people.
I myself am an Indian, so there is no question of racisim when I outlay this.
There was specifically this person. I donot know his name. Bald, “claimed to be Indian” who was staying at the hostel.
I donot know why people donot register complaints about him.
He used to sit in the common area and talk over his phone continuously in an aggressive and pissed off mood.
His voice could be heard even a floor above and it was so annoying if someone is trying to sleep at night.
Apart from this there were other Indians who I figured out were there to cross the border into Kyrgystan.
As a traveller, if I am staying at a hostel , I would prefer being surrounded by fellow travellers or working nomads and not touts or immigrants.
The bald guy was some kind of tout helping people cross borders.
Honestly such people, they dename the country and cause issues for others.

Location is very convinent. Receptionist is really helpful. Stayed there 8 days, it's neat and clean located at riverside and walking distance for few of attractions. Easy way to go Green Bazar , Cathedral church, Arbat street by bus. Overall experience is very good for solo.

Clean hostels. But with a decidedly Central Asian attitude towards customer service. I intended to stay here for two nights before moving to Wanderlust Boutique, due to capacity issues. Unfortunately, I had to cut my stay at the Riverside place short as there were some really obnoxious guests partying all night and keping other guests from sleeping (to which none of the staff felt responsible to intervene), and stay at a completely different place. Wanderlust Riverside had been happy to collect an advance payment for my stay at Wanderlust Boutique. When finally asking for a refund at Wanderlust Boutique for the night I 'escaped' the Riverside place, they all of a sudden became completely different entities and the one branch couldn't refund me for a stay at the other. To top it off, they even tried to shift the blame on me, as I didn't talk to the manager personally, but informed them via text. I would like to write more positively about Wanderlust, as they are actually pleasant places, but they really need to improve on how they treat paying customers.

Dormitory rooms in the basement didn't have a privacy curtain. The bed mattress was comfortable though. Toilets and shower rooms were quite clean. Kitchen is also available and the common area is quite small. They have a lovely cat here. Location is the best!

Good value for money. Could use a privacy curtain. Floors are clean, bed is comfortable. Toilet is decent. Some of the guests seem to be staying long term, and one guy in the picture was stealing money from the tip jar. Watch out since he’s staying in the dorm and looks like long term, he could be stealing from other guests too, this has been raised to the hostel.

Great place for both solo travellers and groups. Amazing location and community.
Lots of space outside to chill, amazing cats and the river just opposite the house.
Service is good, but remember that they accept only KZT.

One of the best hostel ive ever staying in central Asia. The room are nice and clean, also the bathroom quite spacious. I recommend for the sharing / bunk bed because super comfy and worth the price. I was staying there for a few days combine sharing room and private room, but for private room to be honest quite expensive with no ammenities and just sharing bathroom.
*You can drop your luggage if you plan go to other country all around central asia.

I stayed in this hostel during summer time. There was no air conditioning or fan in the dorms. Even if the windows are open, I kept waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. There were no privacy curtains on the bunks. There were CHILDREN, yes you read that right, CHILDREN in the mixed dorm. It looks like those kids were between 5-10 years old. There were SIX CHILDREN in the mixed dorm I stayed at. The reception, sitting room, kitchen and dining hall were cramped into a small space (and it’s all next to the mixed dorm). I didn’t get proper sleep during my stay in this hostel. The wifi was patchy. The staff weren’t very helpful either. I didn’t expect to experience all of this after reading all the good reviews on Booking.
The only good thing about this hostel is its location.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to friends or fellow travellers.

Very good hostel in almaty, they have separate rooms and dormitory’s. Kitchen is also very well maintained with all necessary things like oven, kettle electric stove, utensils, spoons, bowls and fridge, rooms and other places are clean. Only issue is they have shared bathroom for private rooms also you have to share one bathroom between two private rooms. People at reception’s are also helpful but some people’s are always telling you to keep quiet even if you are talking in normal tone. Sometimes it feels like we are in school even though after you are on your vacation. May be since its hostel they have this rule not make noise. Anyways this is good hostel for your short stay with kitchen and all amenities.

Good hostel which was clean, felt safe and was comfortable. Friendly staff and good location. Bathrooms were good and hardly ever had to wait. Solid hostel. Only comment is the kitchen is small so only really 1 person can cook comfortably at any time.
