Not a good hostel. Not very social at all, which is fine, entirely dependent on personal preference. However, my big problem was with the service. It seemed like the entire family lived there, and we were just intruding on their personal space. Spoke to us very disrespectfully. I don't smoke, but my friends were smoking in the smoking area, and they kept coming up to us to let us know that, "there were cameras and [they] can see everything." When we asked what we did wrong, they didn't seem to have an answer, and were basically threatening us for no reason.
They expect you to be entirely off the premises after check-out, which is atypical for hostels. Usually, check-out has to do with the bed itself, which makes sense, and hostels allow you to use the premises. My friend used the bathroom at noon, at which point they tried to charge him the cost of a full nights stay!

The location is an easy 7-8 minute walk from a downtown stop of the #92 airport bus, and close to a ‘Magnum’ supermarket.
It is next to a riverside walk that goes right up into the mountains.
Hostel 211A is clean, safe and friendly. I have stayed there twice and will go again.

good, but the owner or some staff aren't really friendly, sometime demanding and a bit racist if you were asians skin. but one staff were kind and attentive. it is probably one of the best for hostel since Almaty has lacked of hostel equipment compare to international standard. no English speaking staff. you can cook .

Hostel 211A offers good sized rooms and a comfortable bed. I liked having a single bed. OK storage space. Staff are friendly but not sure how much English they speak. Bathroom clean but might not be enough if room is full. Towels, etc are for rent. It was quiet. Good kitchen with all the amenities and a big fridge and social space both inside and outside. Hostel is on metro and on bus lines but not close to the sites. Several good markets nearby. Not sure how much of a social scene it has.

The lady at the reception spoke zero English and seemed really bothered that we actually wanted to check in or ask something. The rooms were not prepared, we only got bed sheets when we asked for it...towels are paid extra.
The other day, the guy at the reception was nice and helpful. Also the hostel is quite clean.

The russian lady in the reseption was rude and doesnt know one word of english, how can a person in the center of the town can be in lobby with no english, poor hostel

I just checked in tonight, and I'm astonished at how cheap and spotless this hostel is, not to mention how friendly the staff and other guests are. absolutely endorsed for all types of travelers. Location-wise, it's ideal. 👍☺️☺️☺️

Very great hostel, I stay here when I come on a business trip, I recommend it to everyone, the staff does a good job, especially Aruzhan, everything is top notch!
