Hostel SHYMBULAK in Almaty

The location was amazing.
The people were really friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We were able to get an English speaking ski instructor ( from the ski school) who was very patient.
I would advise if you want an instructor to try book early because the skiing area does close at 5.

Shymbulak Resort is the perfect winter stay—cozy, stylish, and surrounded by amazing mountain views. The ski instructors were friendly and professional, and breakfast had a great variety with stunning views from the restaurant’s big windows.

We were especially happy to meet two of the friendliest hotel staff, Niyaz and Olzhas. Their warmth and kindness made us feel so comfortable—it truly added to the joy of our holiday. Can’t wait to come back next winter!

We visited Shymbulak Resort in April 2024 and had an amazing experience. The scenery was stunning, and the whole atmosphere felt peaceful and refreshing.

The ski instructors were professional and friendly, making us feel safe and confident even as beginners. The resort staff were also incredibly kind and helpful—special thanks to Olzhas and Niyaz, who were especially warm and welcoming. Their hospitality made a big difference and truly enhanced our stay.

Breakfast at the resort was also fantastic! There was a great variety of dishes, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The restaurant’s location was perfect—with huge windows offering breathtaking views of the mountains. Sitting there with a warm meal and such a view was simply unforgettable.

We would absolutely love to come back next winter. Shymbulak is highly recommended for anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable winter escape!

1. Great view and nice room, but the shower in the room was in bad condition. The water came out so frustratingly.. +no warm water 🫠

3. Nice location, but note that you can't take your rental car if it is not electric. Only electric bus, electric taxi can go.

Very nice hotel, comfortable bed, our room had a nice balcony with a view of the mountains. Hotel staffs are very responsive for any queries you may have. The guy at the reception was very nice and explained everything to us upon checkin and offered us discount vouchers for the ski pass. The hotel restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with it's delicious food. The ski school is just next to the hotel with good ski instructors. We really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back.
