The hotel environment is really nice, especially the Wi-Fi, which is a huge plus! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The breakfast spread is fantastic and caters to all tastes. I originally booked this hotel to watch the sunset, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperative for two days in a row, so I missed out on seeing the most beautiful sunset. A little disappointing.

Came to the beach with the little one, and Shangri-La was our top choice! The weather was perfect, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. Even though the hotel is a bit older, it didn't dampen our holiday spirits one bit! ❤️

I guess a Ferrari, even an old one, is still a Ferrari! The facilities might be a bit dated, but the location and views are definitely worth it! You can take amazing photos everywhere, and there are plenty of pools to enjoy. Plus, there are lots of staff on hand. My only minor complaint is that the walk to the lobby is a bit long. Breakfast gets crowded, but it's still well-organized with a good variety of options. The sunset views are uniquely stunning, and it's a great choice for families too.

We had an absolutely wonderful honeymoon stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and excellent hospitality that made our honeymoon feel truly special.

The room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and offered a stunning sea view perfect for a romantic and relaxing getaway. The ambiance throughout the resort was calm and luxurious, ideal for couples celebrating a special occasion.

The facilities were top-notch, especially the swimming pool and beachfront area, where we enjoyed breathtaking sunsets every evening. Breakfast was delightful with a wide variety of choices, and the staff were always attentive, friendly, and professional.

For families with kids in Kota Kinabalu, I highly recommend Shangri-La. You can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets right from the hotel (non-guests aren't allowed in). It's less than a 20-minute drive from the airport. While the facilities are a bit dated, the service is truly five-star. The sea-view rooms are spacious and come with a ready-made sofa bed. The kids' club is suitable for children under 10. After check-out, they provide a lounge card, so you can still use the pool facilities, and the changing rooms even have showers – very thoughtful service!

🏝️ Kota Kinabalu airport is very small; you can complete all procedures within half an hour, so arriving an hour before boarding is plenty of time. There's really nothing to do or see at the airport.

The room was quite old, but luckily I had read other reviews before checking in, so I was prepared. We were notified in advance that the hotel rooms were under renovation, but strangely, there was hammering every night. It wouldn't stop until we called customer service (dial 3 on the phone) to complain. The latest it went on was until 12 AM, which was unbearable. Yet, the next day, it was the same; if we didn't call, the hammering continued. This 'wait for the other shoe to drop' management style is truly incomprehensible. The breakfast had a wide variety, but the taste was awful. The service staff, however, were friendly, especially during the busy check-out rush around noon, with countless bags. The front desk and concierge had ample staff who were proactive in helping guests store luggage, making the flow very smooth. There are hardly any dining options nearby, so we ate at the Shang Palace Chinese restaurant several times. The food was okay, just okay. The plain rice was inedible; stick to fried rice or stir-fried rice noodles. The beach and pool were nice, and the beautiful sunsets and coconut groves were unforgettable. In the lobby, I met another couple from Shanghai who were complaining about a formaldehyde smell in their room and requesting a room change, but it seemed their issue wasn't resolved.

For the last two nights in Kota Kinabalu, I chose Shangri-La, primarily because I wanted to catch the sunset and have easy access to nearby islands from their private jetty. Although it was a bit pricier, I felt confident about the service. The staff were all incredibly helpful; I didn't even have to carry my own luggage. The only downside was how inconvenient it was to get food deliveries while staying in the Tanjung Wing.

I booked a family room with two kids. The overall size wasn't very big, and the room layout was a bit odd. Outside the window was a garden, and beyond the garden, you could see the sea. This must have been a great hotel when it first opened, but now it feels a bit old. Several areas were under renovation, so maybe it will be better once they're finished. The garden, pool, sea view, entertainment facilities, restaurant, bar, executive club, and breakfast were all good. The room felt very old, and so did the elevators. The location is excellent, right in Tanjung Aru, the best spot to watch the sunset. The executive club and sunset bar are both in great locations. Unfortunately, I only booked one night, and to my dismay, there was no sunset that evening. I'd still recommend it for families with kids; it's great for them to run around and play.

I booked a sea-view room at Tanjung Aru several months in advance, paying over 2000 per night. When I arrived, they gave me a room right above the kids' club and pool, not even close to the best view. If I'd known, I wouldn't have spent so much. The facilities are quite old, and the soundproofing isn't great. However, the breakfast selection was extensive, and the staff were all very friendly.

I particularly love the location, 15 mins' ride to airport and 10 mins' ride to the city centre. The area of the resort is large, next to the sea, with quite some water or other kids activities available. We didn't try the pools but look nice. Breakfast has a wide variety with something different each day.

The hotel is a bit aged and torn. Cleanliness inside the room and common areas (carpets) should be better.
