One of the most enjoyable stays I've had in long time. The East Indies Mansion is beautifully renovated and the elegant decor and atmosphere were truly enjoyable. It really felt like an oasis to walk in to the coolness of the inner courtyard. We stayed in the Anistar 2 room and it was comfortable, spacious and very peaceful. Very quiet even in the bustle of central.Georgetown. Also very tastefully decorated, well-maintained and perfectly clean.

I was also impressed by the little hospitality touches - nightly turndowns, thoughtful amenities, and extremely polite and professional front desk staff. Finally, we loved learning the history of the founder of the house Koh Lay Huan and his role in the early development of Georgetown. Truly a unique experience to stay in a little part of history.

I spent two nights here on a business trip. The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of George Town andLittle India. It’s a lovely heritage building with beautiful furniture and décor. The Nutmeg room, despite not having windows, was spacious and comfortable. The only downside was that the Wi-Fi connection was not very steady or fast.

Four stars mansion well located, poor quality for the money ( 100 euros per night) not even a place to drop your luggage you live at floor level , no place to store your rope, no safe, weak breakfast . Avoid.

Every corner of East Indies Mansion is thoughtfully decorated, and you can truly feel the history and character of the building the moment you step inside. The interior is not only beautiful but also full of charm, making it a pleasure just to walk around and take in the details.

What really made our stay special was the staff. Everyone was incredibly attentive, warm, and genuinely caring, creating a very welcoming and homely atmosphere. We felt relaxed and well looked after throughout our stay, and it was clear that great care is taken to make guests feel comfortable.

It was a memorable experience, and we would happily stay here again.

Loved staying in this original Penang mansion. Tasteful interiors, books and objets d'arts. Super comfortable beds, delightful staff and a quiet respite from the buzz of the neighbourhood. Extremely well located for Little Indoa, Amenian and Chulia streets. My only gripes were that the lighting in the room was too dim and the room (Nutmeg) lacked natural light. Further, the coffee at breakfast was terrible! Bag coffee which was quite weak, a pity as breakfast was otherwise interesting, albeit limited in choice (you have a set "menu" each morning). There are no kettles or fridge in the rooms but you can help yourself to the communal area for tea, coffee, limited snacks and use of the fridge.

Everything about East Indies Mansion is special and beautiful. The pictures didn't even do it justice before we arrived. Don't debate it - definitely book some nights here! 🫶 Some practical info: there is filtered water, kitchen and refrigerator access. Our room had air conditioning. The bathroom was spotless and modern.

A well conserved pre war mansion. Wanting to experience how rich merchant lived and yester years. Well, not disappointed. Besides having a chance to see the furniture of those era, the architectural layout of this mansion is really eye opener. The bathroom sanitary wares are a bit run down, perhaps is the reflection of the age the mansion. Recommended for those interested in experiencing the pre war era mansion.

I loved my stay at East Indies Mansion Hotel. The hotel has been brilliantly restored and is an oasis of beauty and calm. AiTee, Kanmani, and Loke were always happy to assist with any queries, and the housekeeping staff are fantastic. The location is perfect, within walking distance of many attractions, and wonderful food. I was there for 12 days, and I miss it already. I hope to return. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

A beautiful sanctuary in the middle of George Town! We loved our stay at East Indies Mansion. From the moment we arrived Loke greeted us and checked us in. He was so helpful and polite. We booked Anistar 1 and the room was beautiful. Tastefully decorated and peaceful. Note that the room isn’t that accessible as there is a large step down to the bathroom. The manager (sorry I didn’t get her name) was really lovely too and so was the made that checked us out. There were some lovely little touches and it feels like they really care about their guests having a good stay. The whole house was very clean and super relaxing. Would highly recommend and would like to come back at some point! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Great Indian food. Dosai is fantastic. Yummy food, reasonable price. The Cheese Naan is nothing to shout about. Would recommend Dosai and it's Bismati rice.

Best vegetarian food I had in Penang. Dosa, Chutney all taste fresh and good. The service is fast and the restaurant is AC which helps you beet the hot weather.

Good variety of vegetarian cuisine and not pricey. Air-conditioned restaurant that serves their food and hot drinks using traditional indian stainless steel utensils. Personally I prefer hot food on a banana leaf.

Good nasi lemak! ?
28.11.2017 Azahar
Veriety of food choice but mostly 80% chinese hawker. They need to appoint more different type of hawker since Malaysia is multi racial country.
18.10.2017 Kee
Expensive parking place, MYR3 per hour. Nasi lemak is highly recommended.
05.10.2017 Jackie
Various choices of Penang Food. Delicious Nasi Lemak is selling here. However the drawback is they also having an expensive car park in Penang island too.
