The Wembley – A St Giles Hotel, Penang, Georgetown1 / 37

Georgetown, 183, Jalan Magazine (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Very accomodating hotel stay. The nutmeg drink service daily at lobby is delicious.
Hotel location is excellent. Use the side road of carpark for an easy walk to Cecil Street Food Court. If you walk straight across the traffic light to Komtar, you can ride the free CAT bus (15 minute frequency). Or else take GRAB. Easy walk to 1st Avenue Mall that is connected to Prangin Mall (2nd storey). The hotel is well maintained & quiet facing as requested for our 4 night stay. It would be...
Stayed two nights with parents. Both rooms were fairly maintained, “fairly” in the sense that furnitures couldn’t close properly, stains, wear and tear visible, and old televisions with blurry displays. However, service was top notch and location was unbeatable. I hope some upgrades can be done, especially on par with the price that we paid for it. Overall I’d come back to stay again, if I see...
We were upgraded to premium lounge, which includes breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. It's a great gesture for me as I am going through chemo therapy, the hygiene issue is top priority for me. I was truly appreciative to have a quiet and peaceful environment to have all my meals in the hotel. St. Giles has the most comfortable linens that you can find. I slept well and hope to return...
Excellent hotel with easy access to nearby malls and markets, friendly and helpful staff rendered to customers requests with full commitments and follow up. Will definitely return on my next visits
First time staying in St Giles Wembley Penang. Location in Georgetown is very convenient to visit various tourist attractions. Hotel room is spacious. Receptions, housekeeping and cafe staffs helpful and friendly. Will definitely book the hotel again next time travelling to Penang.

Georgetown, 33 New Lane (Off Macalister Road) (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Excellent cleanliness. Breakfast not bad. Good value for money.
Review of Sunway Hotel, George Town I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sunway Hotel in George Town, and I was thoroughly impressed with its prime location, making it incredibly convenient to explore the surrounding attractions. One standout feature was the spaciousness of the room, which far exceeded what you typically find in newly developed hotels. While the decor and finishing did feel...
Great location with many eatery and local products shops around. Good stay with parking
A four-star hotel should not provide towels with torn edges or bedsheets stained with blood and other unknown marks. Equally disappointing was the breakfast, which offered limited choices and lacked flavor.
Close to all the food centre and easy check-in. Overall, it was a great experience.
Helpful staff and good location. Suggest to travel by Grab for places of interest within Georgetown to avoid hassle of parking. Walls a little thin and could faintly hear noises from outside, else everything is good.

The room is quite small, but it offers a lovely view. It's very clean, although we didn’t have enough space to store all our shopping bags. :) Mr Putasnen Nagadaran was exceptionally helpful and proactive. He made sure my early check-in request was fulfilled with a clean room ready upon arrival, and he even greeted me by name when he saw me in the corridor while he was checking other rooms. He took...
The hotel is quite small but when comparing to the price, it's reasonable.
Nice place, there are many delicious food nearby the hotel. I recommend the ice cream shop “Swatow Lane” and vegan restaurant “Coo Sweet Bun Vegetarian Restaurant”
cleanliness is good the soundproof not very good still can hear the noise from other travellers, the street vehicles and the sound of compressor. btw overall is good.
I would never stay at this hotel again unless I absolutely had no other choice. The toilet doesn’t even flush properly… it’s disgusting! At night, I could hear loud music from a stage performance outside. I specifically told the staff not to give me the last room, and yet that’s exactly what I got. On top of that, the air-conditioning compressor sounded like it was right next to my ear. How is anyone...
I booked without windows reception. Great, give me with windows 928, but aircond leaking waiting 40min no response, then go to reception they changed to 628, which is OK but the pillow to thin but the bed is ok .towel is thin for budget hotel is ok

Excellent location for food as the famous Kimberly Duck Kwap Chap is just outside round the bend. There is also a shopping mall nearby 5mins walk away. There is also a Michelin award restaurant inside the hotel serving excellent food.. Hotel guest have discount too.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. I appreciate the helpfulness of the staff whom was on duty on Aug 10 at noon.
Everything is good as well as location. But the bed is quite stiff, I recommend the hotel to add a additional layer of mattress topper to improve the sleeping experience!
Closed to Kimberly night market and several attraction points. Good to stay here for travelling around Georgetown. Staff very polite and responsive.
Hotel is central and close to everything you would need. The main bus station is nearby catching bus 401E will get you to the hotel and return. It will cost you 3.7 ringgit the driver does not offer change so bring 4 x 1 or exact. You can also purchase a 1 week unlimited pass for think it was 36 ringgit if you plan to use the bus often (purchased at main station). Hotel is quite clean, service is...
The place is closed to everything i love eg. Food, bubble tea, chagee, all sweet thing. Staff very nice and helpful. The room is fine but toilet is not that clean. The floor in shower area is hurt my feet 😬

As soon as you enter the main hall, you can feel a positive atmosphere of calm and serenity. The style is well-maintained. Clean rooms. Courteous and attentive staff. Good location, just a few minutes from the historic center. I would gladly return. Perhaps the only downside is the noise coming from the various air conditioners.
A pleasant stay with complimentary afternoon tea daily from 3pm to 5pm. I'm lucky to have an early check in 😊 Small issues like the toilet door got stuck and couldn't open, remote batteries went flat, hand towels missed out after make up room - these were resolved fast, so no major concerns. The location is great, good food is within walking distance and shopping malls are nearby. Best is roti prata...
It’s a convenient location and easy to get around. Lots of nice food nearby too. A cosy hotel and the rooms are clean.
Pleasantly surprised to find the rooms super big & location of the hotel right in the heart of George Town. Simple afternoon tea included. Cross a street to get to Chowrasta Market, Kimberly Night Market & famous Penang Chendol . Paid street parking is limited during the day but by night, it's quite available. Light sleepers, do note that you can easily hear traffic noise/ other guests along corridor
We love the room, antique furniture, and spacious room. Beautiful courtyard garden.
Pros: stylish renovation, clean and tidy, near popular eateries Cons: surroundings got beggars, no good views outside, too dim inside the room

The location is great, have many restaurant and mini mart nearby. Quiet place, we have wonderful sleep.
Great location. If you need the hotel that you can walk to many landmarks this is the great choice
I had a great stay at this hotel. The location is very convenient—close to public transportation, restaurants, and major attractions. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The price was reasonable for what was offered. Overall, I was very satisfied and would definitely stay here again in the future.
The location is superb! Walking distance can reach beryls chocolate mansion, cookiecrumbs and etc. 2 o clock direction from lobby got 24h mart, few eatery right Infront hotel. Most of the famous local delight also can reach by foot! The downside of the hotel just not sound proofing, light sleeper might need to request corner room. But highly recommend from us and will stay again next time!!!
I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. I’d be happy to come back again.
The room has a fake window with outside is a wall which cannot tell the room has "city view" (see picture). The facility is old but clean. There is no table in the room which it is quite not convenience for me to browse on my computer. The layout of the room is not reasonable as the toilet door is hidden on the back of the room which is not convenient to use. The service is good enough as per this...

Strategic location and close to everywhere. Many places selling food and restaurants.
Good place to stay. Just one minus, the pillow so small.
Surrounding by local food pub nearby Komtar good night life too
Good service by the staff with greeting and smiles, very friendly too. The location is great with oharmaxy and food courts nearby. However, the cleaniless part is just normal in general. The right site of the bed has a loose metal spring, which comes out and scratches my feet until bleeding. The electric plug only available at main table site which it's broken too. So if you need to.charge your phone...
Location very convenient and ample parking space. Room space is big.
Had a pleasant family stay at Red Rock Hotel! Great location on Jalan Macalister, close to Penang’s famous hawker food. Our room was spacious and clean, though a bit dated. The pool was great for the kids, and the staff were friendly. Hotel could use some renovations, but for the price, it’s a good budget-friendly option in George Town.

Staff is nice and helpful but the room is quite old and the floor produced sound while stepping on.
But not suitable with guest who came with own vehicles because so hard to find parking around the hotel area. Also, during our stay aircond is not functioning in one of the room. Called the maintenance but still the problem is not fix.
Our fav hotel everytime we hit penang island. The best.. our daughter lovessss the bathtub so much. Me too.. will repeat!!!
Location is unbeatable and very charming hotel, but the overall quality match well with the price you pay.
We stayed for 3 nights here! Check-in was swift since we arrived at the hotel ~5pm. We loved the spacious room with vintage Peranakan decor. The king-bed was so comfortable. Best experience was the bathtub with jacuzzi! After a hot day touring around Penang, a long soak in the tub was very refreshing! The air-conditioner tripped on our last night 😭. Thankfully the ceiling fan was strong enough to keep...
I love the heritage cultural, wooden style, historical vibe and especially the first time I'm seeing a bathtub with jacuzzi. Fully furnished and also outside have a water dispenser without worrying to look for water. Very convenient place to stay and also walkable to mamak, street food, restaurants and cafe's nearby. Will come back again the next time when I come to Penang again. 🫶🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Value for money (deal). Outside the old town, but only 10 minutes walking or you can rent city bikes from the street to the right if the Burma entrance. Very nice local dinner options right outside, and other entertainment, healthcare etc., but if you are in town for the old town feeling, this may not be first choice. Bad Wi-Fi, get your own sim with data. Great breakfast. Nice staff. Nice room, with...
We arrived at this 1926 Heritage Hotel and found our way around the arrival hall to get to the reception located at the side entrance to check in. Athough our room has been renewed but it still shows signs of a poorly restored job. The housekeeping staff should remove the beds to vacuum and mop the floor underneath them. The hotel certainly needs a decent refurbishment to bring it back to its heyday...
This one of a kind hotel is unique. The architecture is from the British Colonial. It's old but they are trying to keep it the way it was during it's hay days. They have done a marvelous job. The Monroe restaurant is small but they serve everything that you can imagine. As the saying goes, nice things come in small packages. Food there is of top notch. Try the Italian dish. Cheap but the customer service is so awesome!! The vibe so warm. If the swimming pool can open from 7am -10pm, it will be the best
Environment verry Heritage & Style. Clean in overall. Swimming pool not to small but Ok for kids enjoy the pool. Easy Parking because can park near room.
The name explains that it is a heritage building n you will expect an old building. Wooden floor but comfortable. No astro & fridge for room 242. A bible in the drawer. Anyway it is worth it for us.

Overall okay. Near with queensbay mall. Toilet a bit dirty at wall and need to clean. Wifi sometimes okay, sometime slow.
Everything is good and if I had to comment on something then it’s definitely the toilet, it’s long rectangular concept and it’s quite squeezy.
Everything is good. Good place for overnight. Near to shopping mall. If u have big luggage, this place not suitable for u. No lift. U need to bring ur luggaga using a stair. But uncle at receptionist so friendly. Mattress also great..
Room is a bit small, but great for a short transit stay.
Good location. Restaurants nearby. Shopping mall.
Overall is good! Because it is a budget hotel, I don't have too many complaints.but the air conditioner in the room I stayed in was leaking, and the bed was right under the air conditioner. Great location but thin walls. Well past it's prime. I got a room with a private bathroom for 70 Rm. There's a security dooron the stairs to the entrance where you ring a bell and they let you in. Great hotel in central China Town location in George Town. Room was slightly smaller than expected and smelt of damp when we first arrived, but with AC and extractor fan on it went away quickly. Mezzanine bed was comfy, hot shower and lots of spaces for bags under bed! Fairly quiet hotel with not many comings and goings. Free washing machine to use on site. Cafe downstairs also.
I have a great experience by staying here. The room is so comfortable and suitable for anyone who search for budget hotel. The staff also very nice and helpful to me. They provide enough info for me to explore other place near my stay. Will visit this hotel again soon :)
A hotel with a great concept with cafe at the ground floor, bar at the first floor and also not many hotels are pet friendly. However the bar doesn’t really open anymore. I opted this because of the pet friendly availability. it’s sad to see a great concept dies off because of the lack of effort in up keeping.
