Euro Guest House in Gzira

I’m giving this a star because zero stars was not possible. Based on the high rating, you cannot see that this guesthouse is a scam. As soon as we arrived, we were told there was a problem with the door-card system so we would have to ask every time the reception to open the door with a master key. The first time we waited 15min. the second time we waited 3 HOURS because nobody was at the reception!!! And it was during the day!!! We tried calling all their phone numbers and nobody picked up. Other rooms’ guests that had the same problem waited angry as well. Everybody tried everything. We found out the receptionist was drunk and sleeping in one of the guesthouse room so we went to ask him for the key. He woke up and he was not even capable to talk. The day receptionist came after some time and told us that we will all get reimbursed, how sorry they are, and that if we want to leave it’s ok because we will get refunded anyway. Then Booking.com contacts them, and the GUESTHOUSE SAYS THAT WE ARE LYING, THAT THEY NEVER SAID THEY WOULD REIMBURSE US AND THAT WE LEFT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING!!! We keep battling this but right now it’s our word against theirs. Save your money and time and go stay elsewhere. It’s not worth ruining your vacation.

At first you don't see it because the high star rating is deceiving but IT IS A HUGE SCAM.

There is a problem with the doors, the cards doesn't work and you have to wait at the reception to enter your room. One time we waited 3 HOURS BECAUSE RECEPTIONIST WAS DRUNK DURING THE DAY. We were told that we were going to get reimbursed but even after filling all the forms and getting the confirmation of the boss, the reimbursement never came because they simply started denying everything and saying the we were liars.

Save yourself the trouble of dealing with these thief, go elsewhere.

We had to self check in because there was no one at the reception. The key card to our room was accessable for anyone!!!! Our room was somehow ok. At first. In our 6 days stay it was never cleaned! At least the AC worked. We found out that the hostel had a code locked door. No one told us the code. We tried to reach the 24h reception Over a periode of 6h we called it 5 times. No one ever answered and one time the reception ever hung up on the call. We waited for 3h+ at the front door untill other guests left the hostel and gave us the code. In the following days we gave the code to 4 other groups experiencing the same situation as us. We nearly lost our room card. We tested if the reception would be accessable. If we had lost the card, we would have to had to sleep on the street that night. Owner tried to scame us by increasing the eco tax dueing our stay. We only paid the amount stated in booking.com. No consequences. He clearly tried to scam us.

So all in all: DO NOT STAY THERE IF YOU WANT A NICE STAY IN MALTA!!!! I mean it! This hostel is gonna ruin your trip experience.

We arrived and there was nobody there, there was no key code given to us for the front door.
We waited for 2 hours until somebody came back to their room and showed us how to get in.
Then there was a "self check-in" waiting for us. So we just had our key card laying there to pick up. Nobody was around. This continued for the whole stay, as we had to play receptionist for the other people arriving.
That is just a no go, anybody could have got i to our room or if we wouldn't have met other people staying here by coincidence, then we would have had to sleep on the streets.
Extremly unresponsible host.
When confronted he didn't even apologise or recognize his incompetence.
Ah and the advertised breakfast does not exist.
STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN!

Do not stay here! We arrived, there was no one available on the so called 0-24 reception, a random guy came out of one room on the second floor and showed us a room which wasn’t the one we paid for (no balcony - different set of beds). There was NO WATER all evening and we couldn’t reach anyone about it - not even the toilet worked in our bedroom. Wi-fi doesn’t work, the 0-24 reception is a joke. We spent our first evening and first day in Malta, running after the receptionist who kept disappearing and didn’t answer the phone… I’d give 0 stars if I could. Don’t waste your money on this place.
