During our budget weekend trip, we decided to book at Tivat Star with no high expectations due to our last-minute arrangement. Surprisingly, the hotel exceeded our initial impressions. It's conveniently located just a short ten-minute taxi ride from the airport. Upon our arrival, the friendly host greeted us as promised and even upgraded us to one of their premium rooms.

The building itself appeared to be one of the original buildings in what is now the old harbour area Its location is excellent, with a quick ten-minute walk to the new marina in one direction and the beach and non-commercial restaurants in the other. Our room had a pleasant view of the harbor and was clean, spacious, and bright. While it didn't have the extravagant feel of a top-tier American hotel, it offered modest comfort, which we found to be quite appealing.

What stood out the most was the affordability of Tivat Star. It was a rare find that provided excellent value for the price. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt that it was completely worth it. If you're looking for a modest and comfortable accommodation option without breaking the bank, I highly recommend considering Tivat Star for your stay.

Footnote: It is worth noting that taxis at the airport have been known to overcharge tourists. As a general guideline, recommended taxi fares from the airport should typically not exceed ten euros. Even with a tip included, a fare of fifteen euros would be considered an absolute maximum.

We spent four days in the room on the first floor, one of the two rooms with a big balcony overlooking mainly the nearby marina. It was the beginning of May and a bank holiday so we were lucky finding the parking lot, and free of charge.
The apartment is good, clean, has good Wi-Fi (the name and the code were on the table), air-conditioning, even bed-heating. There was hot water in the bathroom all the time. Everything clean. No complaints.
There is a modest kitchenette with a small fridge, a microwave oven and basic cutlery, but without a tap and a sink. We did not use any of it.
The host Dimitriy was discreet, quiet and good-natured.
When we arrived we were shown another room on the same floor and we did not like it.
The building has its own garden with two seaters and a table.
The gate is opened with a key, which is not very practical if one of you stays back in the room.
The walls seem to be thin - when there were guests in the adjacent room we could hear them. Though they were noisy, indeed.

Well, we did not actually stay ! The man was so very rude when we arrived. We looked at the room and, OK, it looked clean enough, en-suite, etc. BUT sooo dark, cramped and totally depressing it was just not an option to stay, no other rooms were available. However we found a much nicer and cheaper room nearby with a lovely smiley lady who was tremendously welcoming. Do not stay at Tivat Star !!!

I stayed in the dorm room which has 6 beds although it was never full even during peak tourist season. The room was always clean and mostly tidy. The room has a nice view of the water and mountains. The hosts are very nice and speak enough english for whatever you might need. Location is excellent, close to the centre of tivat without being too noisy when you are trying to sleep.
Great value for money and a pleasant time.

Great value for money, simple but nice.. right next to the port front commercial area with all the restaurants, bars and shops.. staff is nice and accommodating. My room was pretty big, clean, with a partial view of the bay, and with an “antique” touch that I appreciated. I give it 4 stars because the mattress is really very hard and a bit uncomfortable to sleep. But I would come back here, for that price I don’t think there’s better in the area.

The owner violated own check-in rules.
Also wi-fi did not work.
Perhaps there were mice on the top floor.

They did not agree to the offer to pay only for the day lived, maximum two days.

Really nice, clean and comfortable room. Unfortunately there wasn't actual balcony as it was advertised but we only stay one night before flying back home so it wasn't a problem.

Receptionist went after me after I called my own cab instead of taking hotel shuttle to the airport. He stopped my cab opened the door and threatened me extorting money to let me go

NEVER AGAIN TO THIS COAST

When we first arrived he customer service was poor. We had arrived after coming from the beach so looked a bit beachswept but either way our welcoming shouldn't be based on what we looked like. He then proceeded to tell us there are no rooms via his lack of English (we also know no Montenegrin, so this wasn't the issue) but tried to explain that we had already booked and needed to check in, after about 5 minutes he let us in with a big sigh. The only time I saw him smile was when we handed the cash over for the room. My friend went down and asked for the wifi password and said he was a bit more amicable then but each time after that he wouldn't say hello or acknowledge us. The room itself was nice and quaint, it had a fridge and a view of the harbour. Beds were comfy and bathroom was clean. The hot water didnt last longer than 10 minutes which was great for me but the time my friend had a shower it was cold. The walls were very thin, the first night we could hear the in the room next to us snoring (Not sure it that was a testament to his snoring or the thin walls!!). There was also a storm the first night and I think because we were on the top floor we just heard every raindrop and the wind was horrendous, second night we both slept well. So the 2 stars is for the room itself, was very average and did the job but the gentleman who checked us in was just rude.
