The surrounding area was quite busy and a bit messy, which made crossing the streets frustrating. There were only small local shops nearby, and I often needed Google Translate to communicate. The hotel building itself was unique, and most of the staffs were generally helpful and friendly. However, my room was noisy, the carpet was dirty and dusty, and the toilet was difficult to flush — the seat was loose and kept sliding. I myself tried to fix it but couldn’t. The bathroom also had an unpleasant smell. There was a small misunderstanding about my bill due to a staff mistake; after it was resolved, they simply said “okay” and let me go, without offering any apology.

Although the hotel is a well-preserved building from the earthquake, with a quiet, simple and elegant environment, the check-in experience is very bad. The room facilities are old, there is no hot water after 10 o'clock, the toilet is always leaking, the corridor of the room smells pungently of paint renovation, the bedding is stiff and makes people breathless, and the birds start to sing at around 3 o'clock, followed by the crows. I basically didn't sleep that night. The price does not include breakfast, which is high in this area and the price does not match the location. Because the singing bowl class training is held on the top floor of the hotel lobby, everyone booked here for the convenience of class. After the first night of stay, the three classmates checked out and changed hotels without any prior agreement.

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the calm and inviting atmosphere. The pool area was clean, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing swim at any time of day. The daily yoga sessions were a standout — guided by professional instructors in a serene setting, they helped me unwind and reconnect. The hotel's overall ambiance promotes peace and positivity, making it ideal for anyone looking to relax and recharge. Excellent service, beautiful surroundings, and a true focus on guest well-being made my stay unforgettable.

The property is a very relaxing refuge for a traveller. The staff were very helpful and accommodating during my stay which is a call-out and a big part of the charm of the place. The rooms were as one would expect from an old world style establishment, a bit generous and functional. The grounds were pleasant place to relax.

The Hotel Vajra was an oasis in the dusty streets of Kathmandu. It was close to everything, the food was good, and the staff were very welcoming. I would stay here again.

An oasis in a chaotic city.
The exterior is distinctive and very beautiful, and the expectations are full.
Single check-in but assigned a twin bed, communication did not change, but very friendly.
The room is large enough, but the facilities are relatively old. I understand that it is an old hotel.
It did not collapse in the 2015 earthquake, giving people a very solid feeling.
There is no elevator, and you need to climb to the high floors.
There is no TV, and Wi-Fi is also very unreliable. Entertainment can only rely on mobile phones.
The biggest disadvantage is that there is no air conditioning, which is a bit uncomfortable in this season.
There was no electric fan at the beginning, and I found that another room had moved one.
I personally think the price-performance ratio is good.
The location is actually good, less than 20 minutes walk to the Royal Palace Square, and not far from the Monkey Temple.
Overall it is OK.

The environment is very good, the courtyard is quiet and peaceful in the bustling city. The room facilities are simple, not comparable to those in China, but the basic facilities are there (no slippers), and the conversion socket was solved by the front desk. If there are any problems, the hotel front desk will try their best to help solve them. People are very good. Helped to use indrive when calling a car, thank you very much🙏
