Reviews
Additionally, the fridge in the original room was faulty, causing all our stored food to spoil. The staff was polite and offered free breakfast, which we did not use.
Overall, the hotel is old and in poor condition. The rooms and kitchen facilities are generally disappointing, and the issues we experienced caused a significant disruption, especially traveling with a 5-month-old baby.
Management refused any compensation for the inconvenience, which we found very disappointing.
The heating and aircon was alright for us
Not for those who want peace and quiet and a true 4-star hotel experience.
We stayed for 3 nights (for a hefty 138 euros per night & including extra local tax 150 euros ). I chose this hotel because it had a good location and a good sized room. That's where the good stuff ends.
First, I'm very disappointed that neither Booking.com nor the hotel notifies guests about the upcoming mandatory local tax before payment. (I paid extra 38 euros then I checked in) If I had known, I would have chosen a cheaper hotel with a lower tax. This is very frustrating, even though Booking.com states in the confirmation that all taxes are included. I've stayed in a European 4-star hotel and know the standards. This hotel, in my opinion, is worse than some 3-star hotels I've stayed in. The room has a noisy air conditioner (old), noisy ventilation in the bathroom, poor soundproofing, and poor window soundproofing (noise from the street), noisy refrigerator (room 104)
There's no toilet brush, and the toilet seat is broken and moves when you sit down. It's great that there's an iron, but oh my god, the condition it's in is unbelievable! The iron's surface is ruined and covered in brown film (this iron costs 20 euros, and they haven't replaced it, it's ridiculous). The air conditioner filters are disgustingly dirty, with old layers of dirt sticking out in all directions. I'm afraid to think how dangerous this could be for your health. There's a ventilation mesh on the window below, and it's also dirty, the mattress is uncomfortable and sags a lot. The hair dryer was dirty, there was no hair conditioner, the frying pan was dirty, there was no spatula for the frying pan (like flipping an egg). The bathroom door doesn't close (our faucet dripped periodically and kept us from sleeping). There is a kitchen and it would be great to have at least paper towels.
I contacted the manager at 10 a.m. and they offered to change our room, but only by 3 p.m., which was uncomfortable for me because he said we'd have to pack up and vacate our current room. I arrived at my room and thought about it, then called again to confirm the wait time and received the same answer, to which I said I'll think about it. But then the manager knocked on our door and offered to change our room in an hour and a half (which was more or less acceptable), and we agreed. Thanks to the manager for his efforts. I asked the manager for a quieter room. In the end, we got a room that was clearly better quality. I can even explain it with a trivial detail: the mattresses in the room were better and firmer (my back didn't hurt like on previous mattresses), the air conditioning and ventilation in the bathroom were quiet, and the toilet seat wasn't broken, although the previous room was not cheap (room 104 on the first floor). The only omission was that for some reason there was no soap, sponges, or knives in this room. The new room, room 501, was located right behind the elevator shaft, and we heard noise every time someone used it, which was annoying when trying to sleep after 11 p.m. Overall, based on my experience with both rooms, I think they need renovations to meet a 4-star standard. I'd also like to point out that they provide shampoo (regular, not 2-in-1) and body lotion, but no hair conditioner. I feel like this is a 3-star hotel and doesn't live up to the price. I don't recommend this hotel.
Regarding cleanliness, I'd also like to point out that this hotel doesn't clean the ventilation and air conditioning filters. This left a bad impression on my short trip, as hotel issues aren't something you want to worry about on vacation. And I don't understand why it has such a good rating on Booking.
Upon checkout, I was asked if I'd used the bar amenities and about the coffee capsules. I was surprised that coffee was also an extra charge, but the manager said, "It's okay, you can go."
The rooms are big, clean and have a nice little terrace. You can leave your luggage with them for free if you fly in the evening and if you still wanna explore the city it’s convenient.
Downsides;
I had to come up and down a few times because my card didn’t work.
The water doesn’t flow away easily.
It is very noisy and at night you hear the garbage trucks.
Also there was some construction in the hotel at the 6th floor, which they didn’t tell the guests.
So if you really wanna have some rest.
Apart from that, they helped with everything, it’s a nice hotel and a visit worthy.
