Mermaid Inn in Mirissa

Staying here was a great choice. It’s a family run hotel that is kept very clean, and it's only a 10 minute walk to Mirissa beach. The room was spacious with a nice balcony and a clean bathroom. There was even a mini fridge.

The owner is a very kind lady. You can call for room service and get drinks-like their delicious, papaya juice, at great prices. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, too. Since PickMe doesn't work in Mirissa, the owner kindly helped us book a fairly priced tuk-tuk. Highly recommended!

This place is like a small eden in a busy place. Away from the noise of the roads but still at a very walkable distance you can find this quiet place with good rooms, nice beds and a clean bathroom with nice hot water. The people running the hotel are very nice and clean your room everyday. We loved staying here and would definitely reccomend this place!

Mermaid Inn is a great budget-friendly place to stay in Mirissa. The location is a bit far from the main beach area, but considering the price — around $17 without AC and $24 with AC — it’s excellent value for money.

The rooms were spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, and the washroom was clean and well-maintained. For the price you pay, it’s honestly hard to complain.

If you’re looking for a simple, clean, and affordable stay in Mirissa, Mermaid Inn is a solid choice.

A great stay in this centrally located Mirissa accommodation less than a 5 min walk from the beach. Incredibly priced, the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and a decent aircon system that was required during our stay. The lovely family running the place were responsive to all our needs. We would recommend to anybody planning a short stay in Mirissa.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at the Mermaid Inn homestay from December 27th to 29th, 2024. The room was clean, comfortable, and perfectly suited our needs. The family were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home.

We were able to negotiate a great price offline, which was significantly lower than the online price.

What really impressed us was the access to a fully-equipped kitchen, which had everything we needed: gas stove, mixer grinder, cutlery, plates, refrigerator, and toaster. Our room was also thoughtfully stocked with amenities, including:

- A comfortable bed with a mosquito net
- Air conditioning for a restful night's sleep
- A dressing table for getting ready
- A spacious wardrobe for storing our belongings
- A sink, hot water kettle, mini fridge, complimentary tea and sugar packets, and cloth drying racks both inside and outside the room

Additionally, they provided secure parking inside their gated lawn, which was a big plus for us.

Although there's no in-house restaurant, we found plenty of excellent dining options within a 10-minute walk. The hosts' recommendations were also helpful in discovering the local cuisine.

The beautiful Mirissa Beach is just a 10-minute walk from the homestay, making it an ideal location for beach lovers. Since we had rented a scooter, getting around was easy and convenient.

We also appreciated the exceptional housekeeping service. This was the first homestay in Sri Lanka where our room was cleaned daily without us having to ask. It was a lovely touch that made our stay even more enjoyable.

There is a Grocery store just across the road so we were able to buy groceries and cook in the kitchen.

We would definitely recommend the Mermaid Inn homestay to anyone looking for a warm, homely, and relaxing experience. The hosts' attention to detail and generosity in providing amenities made our stay truly special. Just a tip: try negotiating the rate offline for a better deal!

We stayed here for 5 nights and we're happy with our choice.
The room was clean, with AC snd hot water available.
The stuff was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast they cooked was a mix of local and European cuisine.
The only thing to improve is bigger beach towels :)

We stayed for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The family were warm and welcoming and made our stay very special. The room has good AC and a fan. There is plenty of storage space on a wardrobe and clothes stand.
The breakfast was lovely each day, with a good variety including fresh fruit, bread / toast, juices, eggs, string hoppers, daal, coconut roti, sambol and tea or coffee.
Located a short stroll from the beach, we found it very peaceful away from the main street, but very convenient also
