Hotel Nawathana in Matara

We have visited this place occasionally over the past 2-3 years, and overall it's fine. But recently the person who says he is the manager has been offering very bad rooms which have walls with a rotten look and a strong bad odour(especially rooms no 106,107) he offers these rooms when we stayed for a day. once he offer 106 and we avoid room since that day. Today's incident was when we went there, he offered 107 and another room on the opposite side. Both rooms had the same bad smell and walls, and the walls of 107 were covered by dark brown curtains(same as 106). The other room was worse than 107. So we chose 107 to stay. after entering and staying about 15 min my girlfriend says she can't stay in the room because the curtains' colour when the lights are on hurts her eyes (she has migraine and she is very sensitive to colours) so I asked the manager to change our room because of her condition. he denied it and says he already show us both rooms before we check in, now he can't do anything. So we decided to leave, and when we were about to leave, he said he could do the room change for an extra Rs 1000. I already paid 3500 for only 3 hours, and he asked for more for an even worse room. ( I saw a few other good rooms available at the moment but he acts like there is no other) This happens to me even though I've made an early reservation. So be careful when you make a reservation and avoid the bad rooms. They've got really nice other rooms so request those and less expectation of customer service might not disappoint you.
