Orchid Rest in Mirissa

Excellent value for money here. Nice comfortable bed with a mosquito net and good AC, and a very nice balcony with a lovely view of the treeline.
Service is excellent - good laundry service, and very attentive and helpful staff supporting quickly with any issues.

There was some issues with the hot water for the shower, but for us this wasn’t a big issue since it’s been too hot for a hot shower anyway.
Only issue was there are some very loud peacocks around the building waking us up in the morning, but still very happy with our stay.

Very sweet and welcoming owner! The property is very close to Mirissa beach. The room was spacious and clean and came with a balcony with beautiful view of trees!

We stayed here for over two weeks and had a wonderful experience. The place is clean, comfortable, and very well maintained — perfect for a longer stay.

The location is quiet yet close to the beach, cafés, and shops, which made everything very convenient. The hosts are incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful, making us feel truly welcome.

Stayed twice during my stay in Mirissa at Orchid Rest. The room was clean, the bed extremely comfortable and the hosts are so incredible kind!
The accommodation is quiet and perfectly located to reach everything within a few walking minutes (beaches, restaurants, supermarkets,...). Definitely a recommendation for enjoying peaceful nights in Mirissa.

Quite far is the beach. Rooms are big and spacious but the problem is the ground floor rooms never receive sunlight so there is mould smell in the room. The owner is very sweet and makes sure you don’t have any difficulty while staying in the property. The property has beautiful small kitchen where you can easily cook food.

We had a room on the first floor with a balcony which had a table and chairs. The bed had a mosquito net around it which was necessary. The room was very clean and the hostess was charming and helpful. It wasn’t quite so near to the beach as we had hoped and the beach itself wasn’t particularly clean and tidy. In fact it was unappealing. We noticed a place advertising breakfast just a few yards as you turn right from Orchid Rest, but mistakenly didn’t ask the price. We were charged 1500 SLR. Although the photograph on line shows coloured umbrellas and tables outside the building, these didn’t appear to be available.

Really liked our stay over here. The location of this hotel is great and we appreciated our time here. We actually extended our stay from 2 nights to 10 in the end. The owner is very very nice and is very caring. She makes sure you will have a great stay. The hotel itself is also very nice with a hot shower every day. We combined our stay with regular visits to the beach clubs in Mirissa and Weligama. Combining this nice hotel with staying at the beach and pool areas was a great combination for us. Also the value you get for the price per night is sublime. Can only recommend!

A lovely budget hotel with everything you need for a comfortable but inexpensive stay in Marissa. The room we had was on the top floor and had a nice size balcony, a fair sized bedroom and a big bathroom. We had a fridge, kettle with tea and coffee and good working aircon and a fan. The bed had nice mosquito nets and fresh smelling bedding and was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of hot water and the sink is big if you need to do a little laundry (a handy drying rack on the balcony). A nice breakfast is included, with eggs, toast, sausage and a different Sri Lankan savoury each day and also a delicious home made fruit juice. We were there 6 days and the room was completely cleaned with fresh bedding and towels etc on our 3rd day which was perfect for us. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach and to the main road which has shops, a supermarket and some restaurants. Our main reason for 5* is the lovely family that run the hotel, they could not be nicer or more helpful, really lovely people I really didn’t want to leave! Look out for the monkeys playing in the trees in the morning, a lovely way to start the day with a nice cup of tea!
