The room is adequate and the bed is comfortable. We appreciated hot water for the shower. I came to review the property though because of a few points I think need to be considered. If using google maps to find the property by car, you will be sent to the wrong location (it will be a dead end street where you will find Murunga Yoga Cafe - this place is EXCELLENT by the way). There is a path from Murunga Yoga Cafe to Ella Rawana Den but it's not labeled. Go behind the cafe and walk to the next building, past the fireplace and then walk past the two hotel rooms and go down the stairs to check in. Otherwise, the hill to get to Ella Rawana Den is ridiculous and made us curse loudly on a daily basis. We would never have stayed here if we knew how steep this hill was, particularly because there isn't a restaurant open all day to avoid climbing up and down the hill. Additionally, the room is not soundproof and there is loud music coming from The Chill every evening. Housekeeping did not occur daily and we had to ask for anything we needed. I gather this is normal in this area but worth noting in any case.
The view from the balcony is stunning. But I'm not sure if it's worth staying here when you can't get a tuktuk to the property. Also - there is NO signage. That was weird to us.

There is a steep slope up to the Den. It is clean enough especially the bathroom is well clean. Have mountain view and can lie down on the bench at the balcony. No AC but it has AC weather in the valley. Just need to get use to the bed with mosquito net.

We had a lovely stay at Ella Rawana Den Hotel in Ella. The location is excellent — just a short walk to town, making it very convenient for restaurants, cafes and exploring the area. One of the highlights was the beautiful balcony view overlooking the lush green hills. It was the perfect place to relax in the morning or evening.
The room was big, clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
However, it’s important for older guests or anyone with mobility issues to know that the hotel is located up a very steep hill. Cars and tuk-tuks cannot access the property directly, so you need to walk up, which can be challenging — especially with heavy luggage. Because of this, it may not be suitable for elderly or disabled travellers.
One small improvement would be for the hotel to provide a hairdryer in the rooms, as this would be very helpful for female guests.
Overall, a great stay with beautiful views and kind staff — just be prepared for the steep climb!

Good location, just a few minutes from the main road, but still in a pleasant distance to avoid the noise from the mayhem. The hotel manager is very helpful, we needed help both to get tickets to the train and for transportation. It is not a luxury hotel, it is fairly basic but it was clean and have good views over the city. It is a steep road up to the hotel.

This hotel does not qualify as 3 star hotel- just about 2 star!. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel is situated very high up,so not suitable for older people. They told us they would get a Tuk Tuk, so that is good.

We had great experience, stayed for 2 nights, very friendly staff. But only one small detail about its location…it’s on a very very steep hill where out can’t really get with a car/tuktuk haha but on the other hand beautiful view from the balcony!!

Spartan structure. It's a good alternative to a hostel. Poor value for money. Clean room but minimally furnished. Breakfast on tablecloths that had been used for several days. Structure under construction. To get there, you have to go up a long, very steep hill (cars and tuk tuks can't climb it due to the slope). I'd say it's not good. Two stars because the owners are kind, but I don't recommend it.

The rooms are ok, fully equipped with fridge and hot water (no air-conditioning) the design can improve. The view are amazing, i had an amazing balcony.
