Couldn't fault this hotel. My room was upgraded to a sea view de luxe room and it was fantastic. It was well cleaned every day by Jinendra who also left an amusing 'towel animal' for me daily! Breakfast in the Palms Restaurant was superb, plenty of choice and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Sam was exceptional and went out of his way to get everything I asked for. Madhuka and Dimli also deserve a special mention. The SHACK seafood restaurant was excellent and good value. We also had some evening meals in the Palms Restaurant. They offer a magnificent buffet but we ordered a la carte and were not disappointed. We ventured outside the hotel for an evening meal on a few occasions (across the railway line) but found the standard to be mediocre and not that cheap compared with what was available at the hotel.
The swimming pool was easily accessible (graduated steps) and the water wonderfully warm. We never had a problem getting a sun lounger after breakfast although many are obviously reserved early. The extensive beach is lovely for walks. There are sun loungers in the shaded area in the trees but these have to be paid for.
The hotel offers a number of daytime activities and there is evening entertainment.
A wonderful stay and I would highly recomment this hotel.

Great stay.  Everything was almost perfect, all the staff were friendly and helpful.  But a special mention for Sam and Tharushi in the Palms they were so attentive, not just to me but I saw their exceptional service given to everyone they interacted with.  Tharushi’s beautiful smile greeting us at the door….😊. I hope to return one day soon, although my stay was short, I feel I had a connection with the whole place but especially Sam and Tharushi. Thank you 💕

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Very nice room view for sea facing. Helpful staff who made our stay very comfortable. Sea access is easy n very clean. Food is amazing with veg friendly options.

Amazing location with a semi-private beach. The property and rooms are slightly old and they are revamping the place slowly which maybe an issue if your room is closer to the renovation area but our room was at a distance so we did not face any inconvenience. The hospitality of the hotel is simply great! From the staff at entrance till the checkout, everything is smooth. Their restaurants serve amazing cuisine and the serving staff is very hospitable and helpful. We travelled with a 3 year old and all his needs were sorted. Special thanks to Chef Dilip for making our food experience worth it. His hospitality and cooking skills are exemplary and have barely experienced such warmth at any other restaurant in the world. Special mention for Jinendra the housekeeping staff who ensured our room was clean everyday and did a great job at it!

We had an outstanding dinner at Taj Bentota Resort & Spa. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The service was truly exceptional. A special thank-you to Asiri, Chef Kamal, Chef Manoj, and Chef Shamika for their warm hospitality and amazing support throughout the evening. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made our dinner unforgettable. Overall, it was a perfect dining experience with excellent food and world-class service. Highly recommended!

The hotel is well-known, a little old, but the area and overall atmosphere are normal. The price/quality ratio is reasonable. An excellent restaurant overlooking the ocean and a very strange restaurant where breakfast and dinner are held (reviews on Google maps) confirm this. The beach is a little dirty, but this is not a problem of the hotel but of the local population in general.

OK! But the steam sauna costs 280 yuan (RMB) per session. Will I become more beautiful after steaming? I was dumbfounded.

The most perfect hotel (in my opinion, of course) for a romantic getaway. The famous Taj Hospitality, coupled with a lovely location (pristine beaches of Bentota), restaurants / bars serving great food make it such a favored destination.
