Lavanga Resort & Spa in Hikkaduwa

I do not recommend it to anyone. This hotel does not look anything like reality. All the windows are greasy, the mirror is splashed, there are cockroaches in the bathroom, and in the room I saw a lizard. The sink is full of leftovers from the previous guests, with traces of cosmetics. The doors and windows are old and barely work. We had very little interaction with the staff; we didn’t ask for another room because we stayed only one night. The food is awful. The location is very good, but I would rather be a bit farther away and have decent conditions.

No, no, and no again. How can you even sell a hotel like this? The photos were apparently taken 20 years ago. It's falling apart and the smell is absolutely indescribably awful! It's dirty, the bed linen smells, the towels have never been washed, the mattresses smell like they've been peed on for 10 years, nothing works 🙈, no hot water, no air conditioning, no TV, the toilet is broken, water is standing in the sink, even the fan is ripped out of the ceiling, there's nothing to eat in the morning, I wouldn't even say it's modest, just nothing, we travel a lot and know the difference between service in different countries, so we didn't expect Dubai service from Sri Lanka, of course, but not that 😢, okay, we booked not only this hotel, 7 days only in Lavanga, then we went to The Palms, so even in Sri Lanka there is something to compare with, it's clean here, everything works perfectly and I just realized how beautiful Sri Lanka is, if we hadn't left there, my impression of the country would have been ruined forever!!!

Please do not stay here if you value your health. We were given a false impression as we arrived. Flowers, a cold refreshing tea drink and biscuits were handed out to enjoy whilst our rooms were allocated. We should have been more aware when realising how many flies we were brushing away. Our first room was quickly refused. The second room was accepted only as a stop gap until we could arrange something else the following morning. The rooms have not been cleaned in forever and the smell is disgusting. It was so bad it could turn your stomach The plumbing leaks The bathrooms are disgusting with rusty metal and damp filthy rattan clothes basket. The floors are of industrial concrete and have not been swept or washed. The ceiling drips The air con units are rusty noisy and could not turn it off as didn't have a remote to control it. The towels were not fit for an animal to use The sheets on the bed are the only thing that were clean as they looked brand new Being honest, there is not enough disinfectant in the country to clean this hotel. In my honest opinion, it needs closing down and refitting from top to bottom before opening up again

This hotel was the worst experience of my life. I don’t understand why Agoda still keeps this property listed. We booked 4 nights for $500 including breakfast, but we could only stay for 2 nights before leaving because of the terrible smell and the extremely poor condition of the building. We didn’t even try the breakfast due to hygiene issues — there were a shocking number of flies on the food and drinks. The outdoor areas were also unsafe; there were holes near the pool that were only covered with carpet. We accidentally stepped on one, and luckily only a sandal broke. Despite seeing many bad reviews, I still thought that a place charging $125 per night would at least have basic facilities and some sense of responsibility. The funniest part is that when we checked out 2 days early, nobody even asked why we were leaving. Travellers, I truly beg you — please avoid this place. It’s not worth your money or your safety.

This was one of my workplaces and I had an amazing memory of this place. I visited in July and realized that whoever is managing it now does not care about customers at all. The room was terrible, with old linen and an unpleasant smell inside. The TV didn’t even work. The outside balcony was full of bird droppings, making it impossible to step out. The door locks showed signs of being forced open, and anyone could easily push the door open. Overall, the place is a disaster.

Absolute pathetic. Couldn't bare staying even for some time. Please check the room before check-in. Unprofessional staff, stinking room, dirty bathroom. Left the place for a better hotel. Better to avoid.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I travel frequently. The front desk staff Mr. Lakshman was rude and unhelpful. They seemed irritated that we were even there. After waiting for 3 hours to check in, I was handed a key with no explanation about the amenities or the layout of the property. When I complained about the issues, the staff did nothing. No apologies, no attempt to make things right, just a cold shoulder and a shrug. Upon entering the room, it reeked of mold. The bed was lumpy and felt like it hadn’t been changed. The bathroom had a persistent leak in the sink, and there was black mold growing around the bathroom. The "free Wi-Fi" barely worked and kept disconnecting every few minutes. However, from the moment we arrived, Mr Berny was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure all guests were taken care of. He even took the time to chat with guests he’s a true asset to the hotel. I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. Save your money and stay anywhere but here.
