AliKele Hotel & Resort in Sigiriya

This hotel is good if you want to pay for what you get. We paid £20p/n - our rooms were all terribly maintained, mouldy, broken door handles, our main door didn’t lock, shower barely worked and toilet was rather disgusting. The staff were lovely, super attentive…however….they did lie to us on our first night. We asked if the kitchen was open (although “fully booked” nobody was sat eating at 6:30pm) and they said yes, if we order now. We ordered from their menu, nearly 2 HOURS later we questioned the time of the food and within minutes a very obvious delivery driver arrived. They had blatantly ordered our food from another place, reheated & plated it. We felt misled and annoyed as we were really hungry and could have walked down the road to a restaurant. The pool water was murky and dirty, so much so I used the net myself, their were broken tiles on the floor which we cut our feet on and the whole place looks run down.
The staff, to reiterate, were lovely! Its a shame their management cant give the property a little tlc. It has real potential…

The staff were incredibly rude, especially a man named Prasanna, who even attempted to physically confront me as a guest. The food was terrible—undercooked and barely edible. On top of that, they were not honest in their dealings, and I didn’t receive a proper invoice for my stay. I would strongly advise against visiting this place.”
