Taru Villas Mawella in Tangalle

We stayed at Taru at Tangalle for only one night, booked at short notice. The hotel is beautiful and a wonderful location overlooking the ocean. The staff could not be more helpful and such great service. Pramodya Herath was so friendly, always smiling and a great example of the professionalism provided by everyone at Taru. Thankyou.

During our three-week trip to Sri Lanka, our best accommodation experience was at Taru Villas Mawella. The exceptional support and professionalism of Lahiru, the hotel manager, made a huge difference and helped us in many ways throughout our stay. In the restaurant, Sam—who is originally from Galle—was also incredibly kind and attentive, always going out of his way to assist us. Thanks to the wonderful team, we enjoyed an unforgettable stay at one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka

A truly lovely hotel and experience. Great location right on a very quiet and clean beach. Lovely hotel with very accommodating staff. Spacious room with plenty of outdoor space.

The location is fantastic as it's right on a lovely beach, with lots of sun loungers and bodyboards available. I would recommend the Pool house as it has 2 ensuite bedrooms, a large lounge/dining/kitchen area and private veranda where you can have breakfast served + the large pool is effectively all yours. The breakfast options are very good, however, there are better and much cheaper and romantic options for lunch/dinner a short distance away. I would rate it 4.5.

This hotel is absolutely brilliant, the setting , the food (incredible), the staff - Lahiru, Sam, Donald, Shehan, Pasindu - EVERYONE, are just the best. So accommodating, so friendly, so brilliant with our baby - they could sort everything. I would completely recommend this hotel and to stay for a few days so you can really relax there. We loved playing on the grass with our baby and swimming in the two lovely pools!

What a fabulous hotel in a beautiful location on the beach. We stayed in the pool house which is very luxurious and comfortable. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, particularly Lakshitha who looked after us extremely well. Great food and cocktails too!

We loved our stay at Taru Villas. Our deluxe room was very well appointed and we enjoyed sitting on the verandah watching the waves roll onto the beach. The food was delicious, pool very refreshing and location peaceful. All of the staff were exceptionally lovely and helpful. Lahiru especially went out of his way to ensure that our stay was wonderful. We can highly recommend a stay here.

The most relaxing beach side holiday ever! We stayed in the lovely Kurumba House within the Taru Villas Mawella complex , with direct access to the beach from the bottom of the garden. The sea was perfect for body boarding (borrowed from Taru Villas) and after spending hours every morning and late afternoon in the sea, we'd jump in Kurumba's private pool at the back to cool off. The Mawella beach is super clean , an endless stretch of jungle fringed sand with virtually no one except us and a few others. Our villa and extensive gardens were kept super clean by what seemed an army of gardening /housekeeping staff, and kudos to our personal butler Ruwan who was always on hand even at mealtimes in the main restaurant to look after us. Talking of which, the breakfasts, especially the Sri Lankan breakfast, was utterly moreish. Meals were in an all white open dining room overlooking the main pool and the sea - what a view to eat to! Gehan, the onsite villa manager runs a tight ship, ensuring impeccable service from all his staff, while handing out useful nuggets of info on excursions (we went to Galle along the coast and also to see the Blowhole) . I'd say that our idyllic beach side stay at Taru (Kurumba House) was the best part of our 2 week holiday in Sri Lanka. Can't wait to return!

We’re so glad we chose this gorgeous villa for our vacation — it was truly one of the most magical and relaxing experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the Villa Manager, Mr. Gihan, and the Cluster Manager for the down south Villa's (sadly, I can't recall his name, but his kindness won’t be forgotten!). A special thank to our personal butler, Lakshitha, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Taru Villas is a stunning blend of charm and elegance — the perfect antique escape for anyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious getaway. Highly recommended

Incredible stay!! The staff went above and beyond and were really attentive. The beach was beautiful and we were virtually the only people on it. They had body boards for you to borrow which we used every day. Really lovely cosy hotel. The room was immaculate, the pool was great. The food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner were great and the food was delicious. Couldn’t recommend more. We did the sunset kayaking tour with the hotel and we had the best time if you get a chance definitely do this! We saw monkeys, tonnes of birds from egrets to pelicans and loads of fruit bats.
