W15 Hanthana Estate Hotel in Kandy

We stayed at W15 Hanthana Estate during our tour around Sri Lanka, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable stays of our trip . This is a small boutique property set high in the hills with truly incredible views. The gardens and outdoor spaces are stunning and beautifully maintained, and the pool and terrace areas are breathtaking places to relax and take in the scenery. The hotel itself is a converted colonial-style bungalow which gives it a lot of character. We stayed in one of the Sable Suites located behind the main house. The room itself was quite small, but perfectly manageable for a short stay of a couple of nights. In reality, we spent very little time in the room as most of our time was spent enjoying the pool, terrace and gardens. If staying longer, it might be worth considering one of the rooms in the main house. Our stay was on an all-inclusive basis, with all food and drinks included, which worked very well. The food throughout our stay was excellent, and a lovely highlight was afternoon tea served on the veranda while enjoying the incredible views. What really made the stay special, however, was the service. The main member of staff, Sheriff, was outstanding. He was incredibly attentive but never intrusive, and seemed to instinctively understand good hospitality — appearing with a glass of wine or checking if we needed anything at just the right moment. Overall, this is a beautiful boutique hotel with spectacular views, excellent food and truly memorable service. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay in the hills near Kandy, it’s a wonderful place to relax for a couple of nights.

What an absolutely amazing experience, this hotel is not a hotel but a very stylish “home away from home”. The staff is all so polite, serviceminded and ready to go out of their way to make you feel perfect. The W15 Hantana Estate gives you so much more than you dream of, and it is such a beautiful place. We can’t wait to be back again sometime.

We stayed at W15 Hanthana in a bungalow suite in the main house for three nights. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel is situated high up in the hills outside Kandy in a very tranquil location with amazing views. Our room was very spacious with a lovely sitting area and small but private outdoor space. Housekeeping kept everything beautifully clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We were on an all inclusive package which included everything. The food was excellent and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea on the lawn one afternoon. We also went bird spotting early one morning with the hotel’s naturalist and had a great experience going out in a vintage Land Rover on narrow tracks through the tea plantations one afternoon. The views were stunning. A great place to stay close enough to Kandy but without the hustle and bustle of the city.

Difficult to fault. Beautiful location in the hills above Kandy. Faultless service and food. Wonderful ambience.

Stylish accommodation and surroundings. The room was beautiful, well-equipped, and clean. The food was delicious with a wide selection, and throughout the entire stay, the service provided by the butlers was perfect. If I were to stay in Kandy or the surrounding area again, I would definitely choose W15 Hanthana Estate.

Stunning view , atmosphere , beautiful and luxury style. The best food ever had in Sri Lanka and amazing team ! The team speak English properly and they have such care for the guests that literally touched my heart. I wish everyone to stay at W15

The most expensive hotel in Sri Lanka, I was full of expectations, but was quite disappointed. First of all, there is a one-way road on the way up the mountain, and it is dangerous to reverse when there is a car passing by. The hotel has only six rooms, including breakfast and dinner, but the variety is too small, and it is a bit not full. Moreover, the dinner and breakfast are served very slowly. We were the only Chinese family that day, and we couldn't find anyone when we checked in, so we waited for a long time. The environment is very good, but it is too troublesome to go up and down the mountain, the service is average, and the hotel atmosphere is not very good. I don't recommend staying here.

The hotel group is small but has boutique hotels across Sri Lanka. This w15 is located near kandy. There is a shooting club next to it and tatata gunshots can be heard during the day. The hotel itself is not big, with one house and one main building. As for the scenery, looking at the mountains, it feels a bit like Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all good. In terms of activities, you can choose hiking, cycling, tennis or taking a jeep to climb high.

Special attention should be paid to the fact that the hotel channels have different prices, so carefully compare the prices.
