Beautiful old hotel only 15 minute walk to town. The walk was easy along the street and coming back I walked along the water on the path. The room was updated and modern. The bathroom had glass windows at the top which meant the room would light up at night and disturb others who might be sleeping. I had packed a little battery operated votive candle which prove handy at this location so we didn’t have to turn on the light in the middle of the night. We were with a small private group so we had dinner at the restaurant which was good but nothing exceptional. I would stay here again because it was in a quiet area but still very close to all the action.

This old hotel oozes charm and service. It is across the street from the lake with limited lake views in many rooms. Our room was newly renovated and really lovely. As an older hotel the accommodation is not totally modern but feels authentically Swiss. The town center is 20 minutes walk from the hotel, they provide a free bus/train pass which is easy to use. The restaurant is decent. Breakfast is ok, if included.

Hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Old Town; however, you can take the free bus c/o Lucerne Card which hotel provides the guests. Room is not that spacious & noticed that lots of tour groups book thru this hotel. As such, the breakfast buffet room is quite crowded

Great location across from the lake and easy 15 minute walk to the old town. This is an older hotel and has plenty of charm. Rooms are small, beds were comfortable. There is a fridge and hot kettle provided. Breakfast Buffett was small and food quality was ok.

Grand Hotel Europe was opened in 1875, a classic from yesteryear. The rooms have been updated somewhat. The common areas continue to maintain their traditional allure. Location is right across the street from the lake. Grand ****** Lucerne is not too far away. The walk to Lucerne old town takes around 20 minutes. Our stay includes a free bus pass. Bus stops in front of the hotel and is around 10 minutes to the old town. The bus ends end at the Lucerne central train station. Breakfast was subpar. Dinner is expensive. Dining in old town is just as expensive. Overall Switzerland is expensive.

This is a classic "grand hotel" that is absolutely beautiful. It takes a bit of getting used to if you love modern conveniences. It is close to old town, shopping and Lake Lucerne. The staff are very attentive and friendly. But we were there in August with lots of humidity and there is no air conditioning at the hotel. You have to leave your window open at night and there are no screens on the windows. Still it was a very neat experience to stay in a place where famous celebrities once stayed and I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Although this hotel is of a more dated style than maybe offered in other hotels, the rooms are very clean and surprisingly spacious. For a family of three staying in one room, this was excellent for us. The hotel is just across the road from Lake Lucerne and we had lake views from our fourth floor room. Certainly in summer when the weather is so beautiful, we found that we were hardly in the room, but if the weather is bad it would be nice to have a less finicky wifi system etc. Overall very pleasant.
