Maehaad Bay Resort in Haad Yao

Beautiful, peaceful resort with excellent service

I had a wonderful stay at Maehad Bay Resort – SHA Plus and would happily return.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very clean, and the hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained. There are two lovely swimming pools, one with a waterfall, which makes the atmosphere incredibly relaxing. The resort is located right next to the beach, and having breakfast with a sea view every morning was a real highlight.

The breakfast buffet was very nice, with a good variety and some changes from day to day. One small suggestion for improvement would be the addition of fresh juices, which would make the breakfast experience even better.

The staff were exceptionally kind, attentive, and welcoming. You’re greeted every time you walk past reception, which really makes you feel cared for and at home. I also appreciated having access to a gym, which I used during my stay.

The location is peaceful and ideal if you’re looking to relax. It’s worth noting that if you plan to explore the island extensively, having a scooter is helpful, as taxis can become quite expensive and there are no ride-hailing apps on the island. For me, this wasn’t an issue, as I was mainly there to unwind and enjoy the resort.

When I return to Koh Phangan, this will definitely be a place I would consider staying again. A beautiful resort with great service in a tranquil setting.

Very calm and nice area of Koh phangan. There is a couple of good restaurants in the area! A must if you stay here is the Mae Haad three house, just under 10 min walk from the hotel. Rent a bike if you want to discover more than Mae haad.
The rooms are Clean and in good shape. Nothing to complain about regarding the pool. The beach is good, there is snorkling just 50m from the beach, this is surprisingly good! (You can rent snorkling equipment for a low prize outside the hotel). Breakfast is good, we didnt miss anything else than better coffee (which you can buy in the bar) this is according to our Swedish preferences…
We were concerned after reading the reviews before we arrived, but we don’t have anything to complain about. The staff is very friendly and helpful, arranged transfer at good price to and from the hotel.
If you are looking for a calm and slow area (we came from Lamai) i would at least recommend staying here! We would at least comeback. Lots of families also, seems to be a very family friendly hotel! Note that I’m usually very sceptic towards everything after reading reviews..

Fantastic (absolute bargain) hotel right by the water. You can snorkel off the beach, and walk on a beautiful sand bar. Swimmers pool is huge with plenty of comfortable loungers. The hotels restaurant was better quality than most nearby, and a very good breakfast. Room very clean with powerful showers and good wifi. Staff were all lovely.

A little bit in the middle of nowhere but an amazing hotel with private beach and access to Maya island. Waterfall nearby and a shop and scooter rental local.

This place is an affordable gem with great service and amenities. There is a corner store just a few minute walk away, and the beach is steps away too. Staff have been amazing and kind. The pool with the waterfall could use a good scrub, our rooms could have also used a good scrub, the bathroom and shower didn’t have any privacy, so if you are sharing a room you’re going to get to know each other real well, and the wifi is very spotty at times, but overall I would recommend this place! The restaurant on site does have a decent breakfast buffet included, we found the dinner to be a little pricey but good food. There are other food options close by, we found some of the prices much higher than other parts of Thailand. The “roots corner” restaurant near by had the best prices for dinner and was really good.
