Reviews
The room itself looked good and was clean and comfortable, especially for the price you pay. Unfortunately, on my last night there were heavy footsteps and banging noises from the apartment above, which made me realize the rooms might not be as soundproof as I initially thought. I was probably just lucky the earlier nights were quiet. Still, for the price, the rooms are good value. The location isn’t ideal, but with Bolt or other transport apps, getting around is easy and convenient, so it’s not really a big issue.
However, I felt uncomfortable with the maintenance guy of the building because of the way he behaved. On several occasions, i was sure he was taking photos of guests, not only myself, but also others, too often and without reason. And he often spent unusually long periods quietly staring at people from under his hat or from the corner of his eyes, not in a friendly way, but in a way that felt weird, strange and invasive. He seems to be always watching, yet the moment you look at him, he quickly turns his face away, that kind of behavior just makes people feel uneasy, nervous and observed.
Although he comes across as shy and introverted, he seems to gossip and speaks negatively about guests in front of the hotel, often to the cleaning staff or other locals arriving at the building. I personally experienced this, he was clearly gossiping about me and then looked over as if to make it obvious. I never did anything wrong and always behaved respectfully, the reception and cleaning staff all treated me warmly, but he seemed to dislike me for no reason.
I find this behavior deeply unsettling and inappropriate for a hospitality environment. He gives off a very negative and uncomfortable energy, as if he’s unhappy himself and tries to take it out on guests by creating an uneasy atmosphere around them during their holiday. It often felt like he was deliberately trying to make people feel watched or unwelcome, which is completely unacceptable in a hotel setting.
He just behaves in a way that feels immature and unprofessional, almost as if he has never really matured emotionally. There’s a sense of envy and bitterness toward guests, as if he resents seeing others happy or successful. Instead of helping with luggage or maintenance tasks, he just wanders around or plays on his phone, contributing very little while creating tension.
It’s a shame because the rest of the team are truly wonderful, and the property itself could easily be a great place to stay. I think management should address this staff member on his behavior, as it’s damaging the reputation of the hotel and making people feel uneasy.
I had a confirmed booking that Agoda canceled at the last minute due to overbooking, leaving me stranded on New Year’s Eve with no accommodation. Prices had skyrocketed, and I was left scrambling despite having done everything right. Agoda offered NO compensation that didn’t come close to covering the damage they caused.
To be clear: this was not the hotel’s fault. However, because Agoda is the booking partner, the experience reflects poorly on the property as well. I truly hope Rizin hotel considers whether continuing to work with Agoda is worth guests having once-in-a-lifetime trips ruined like this.
This was my first and possibly only New Year’s in Thailand, and it was overshadowed by stress and uncertainty caused entirely by Agoda’s failure to honor a confirmed reservation.
Future travelers: be very cautious booking through Agoda for critical dates.
Edit: if you lose your room key, you don’t get your deposit back of 500 baht.
I will be back this hotel
The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that there a few maintenanse of the room and the facilities, but everything is very functional.
