1) There seems to be an issue with the room doors – they're quite hard to close without significant force. And when you do apply that force, it's tough to gauge how much, resulting in the door slamming shut with a very, very loud bang. You can hear it in your own room, even with the door closed, like a pistol shot right next to your ear. And there are many rooms on each floor, and they're all booked up during high season...
2) About 30 meters from the hotel building, there's a local Muay Thai center that often hosts local tournaments until about 11 PM. You can clearly hear the commentator even with the windows closed. So, stock up on earplugs :)
