Chiva-Som Hua Hin in Hua Hin

This is my second visit to Chiva Som and I came here this time as I have significant health issues including the fact that I couldn’t physically walk and am awaiting knee replacement surgery. Like something of a biblical miracle, Chiva Som put me on a programme of physical therapy and treatments which eventually enabled me to walk! People were whispering ‘that lady who was on the walking stick can walk now’ and questions were asked about who had treated me. The truth is that the magical healing nature of the place and the combined knowledge and care of all the people working here works wonders. The GM is present, charming and obviously cares very deeply, no issue is too small. All of the above and exquisite care and professional pride make this an amazing place with exquisite food and attention to deal. Special thanks to Thip for taking extra care of me!

If you are looking for a real health resort, this is heaven on earth. After traveling the world all over, I‘ve stayed so many times in hotels and resorts dedicated to health, but Chiva Som topped it all. It’s the incredible team spirit, everybody you will meet is really dedicated to get the best possible results for your body and soul. Food is excellent, also on the diet plans and service allover is seamless and friendly. You should opt for the bigger oceanview rooms on the 4th floor. My Best experiences in Thailand are: the Park Hyatt in Bangkok, the Conrad in Koh Samui and the Chiva Som for your health.

This was our 15 th visit to this uniquely Thai health Spa . Obviously we are big Fans of Chivasom , given our repeat visits and our latest 24 night visit was no exception. From the airport pickup with assistance , and the perfectly air conditioned Limo ride , to the GM , Khun VP greeting us on arrival , it was a pretty perfect visit . (1) We book the same room each time (upper floor sea view ) and our Butler ( Vivie ) prepares the bed exactly as we want it with one side of the bed slightly firmer and warmer ( my wife’s ) and my side softer and cooler . A perfect room temperature and great pillow menu are key to a good nights sleep which is critical for your health . The oil burners have lavender as per our request. You need to have a perfectly set up room on day 1 to get the most from your visit . My advice to anyone visiting is to do this on day 1 . (2) During the first week we went through some health assessments as both my wife and i had some small issues (tendinitis for my wife and recent torn meniscus surgery for me ) . Our Health advisor Chee Wee was very professional and we had a proper plan for rehab with the best Physiotherapist in Thailand ( Khun Jeep ) . Both of us had substantial healing during the visit . (3) It’s very rare to eat delicious food that is healthy these days, but that’s what you get at Chivasom . The Chefs will make you anything you want to be honest . I requested items not on the menu for example , like a Thai Crab Omelette and it was so delicious. The waiters and serving staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly, and most have been there many years. (4) The Spa area is clean and the staff very helpful and welcoming. Overall I would say that Chivasom is obviously not for everyone as it’s a little eccentric and quirky with people strolling around in dressing gowns and pajamas , going from treatment to treatment. Management encourages guests to also have a digital detox and leave your cellphone in the room which is fantastic from our point of view but obviously some folks are desperate for their phones . If you want to make or receive phone calls you will have to do that in the privacy of your own room or on the beach out of range of guests trying to find some solitude. So Chivasom may not be for you , if you want to be shouting loudly into your phone all day . In conclusion, I would say that Chivasom is a little like MARMITE , you either gonna love it’s quirky old rules or you gonna hate it and conclude that it’s not for you . WE LOVE IT . The entire Chiva Som experience exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was of the highest quality, the staff was professional and prepared customised and personalised plans based on each persons objectives. The food was healthy, yet tasty and the options were plentiful. The resort staff was extremely well trained and many of them have been with Chiva Som for a long time. Many of the guests were returning customers which itself speaks highly of their overall experience. The location is fabulous, bang on the beach with beautiful blue water. I would particularly like to complement the efforts of Japan (my consultant), Watermelon and Panda (my trainers) and Sho, who was amazing at the restaurant. The resort had plenty of activities to choose from and multiple optional programs as well. The General Manager was also always visible and interacting with guests to make sure they were well taken care of. I would like to point out that I often use Tripadvisor to see reviews before travelling. I would like to state that the review posted by Anu on 01/02/25 (a couple of reviews below mine) was totally incorrect and misleading. I don’t think she knows about what a high quality, luxury wellness retreat would include. She clearly wasn’t on a wellness retreat if she had to visit 7/11 to buy crisps and chocolates :). I have known of Chiva Som’s superb reputation for a long time and have been keen to visit. I’d say that it actually surpasses all and every expectation that I had of it. I have been to a lot of wellness resorts - Vana, Kamalaya, LeFay, Mii Amo, Miraval to name a few but Chiva Som seems to capture something very special. Also it has the most outstanding staff who remember who you are and what your schedule is, all with a big smile and a lot of warmth. I understand that many of them have worked at Chiva Som for years and their pride in the place really shows. My room was very spacious well designed and comfortable and the food was delicious, creative and good quality. What I particularly liked is that there is a relaxing and comfortable vibe without it being in any way pretentious and staff attend to everything with the minimum of fuss. Will definitely be back!

Every need is anticipated, every detail meticulously addressed, making you feel genuinely valued and cared for. The hyper-personalized approach began with a comprehensive wellness assessment, crafting a unique journey that blended seamlessly into my three-day retreat. My schedule included therapies like physiotherapy to release travel tension, contrast therapy in an infrared sauna and ice plunge, and Radial Shockwave Therapy for deeper healing. Each treatment was chosen to support my specific needs, from physical recovery to mental clarity. One highlight was the Seiketsu Shiraku Japanese Acupuncture, which balanced my energy and eased lingering stress, a perfect prelude to the Chiva-Som Thai Herbal Signature Massage that used heated herbal packs to release knots and refresh my muscles. Tai Chi, sunrise yoga, and floating therapy further added to the sense of profound relaxation and renewal. Dining at Chiva-Som’s beachside restaurant, overlooking tranquil waves, was another highlight. Nourishing dishes and healthful juice shots paired beautifully with moments of reflection, journaling, and savoring the beauty around me. One of the best spa hotels truly earned their reputation. Client service is top notched; food is healthy with plenty of choices. It is a health conscious resort with brilliant choices of gym classes with daily spa treatment. The price worth every penny!

Advantage 1. Professional Facilities Resorts that promote wellness often have a variety of resorts but lack professional facilities. It can be seen that Chibasom has invested sufficiently in equipping specialized facilities. For example, unlike most hotels where the gymnasium is a space the size of your palm, Chiba Som's gymnasium was very spacious and equipped with the latest machines. The physical therapy room also has professional equipment, and the Pilates room was sufficiently spacious and fully equipped. As a Korean with a strong beauty industry, I may not actually use it, but there are also specialized skin care facilities where dermatologists are invited to provide skin diagnosis and various procedures and care. This is a place where genuine care can take place, not just show-off wellness. 2. When you check in to the consultant service, an interview will be conducted based on the health questionnaire you submitted in advance. What is your current physical condition, what parts of yourself do you want to improve, are there any programs you are particularly interested in, etc. Accordingly, the diet, exercise schedule, and treatment program are designed. Actually, I went without much expectation, but I was surprised that the consultant was very professional. The interview was not formal, but was conducted meticulously and meticulously, and I also really liked the process of organizing the program accordingly. 3. A cost minimum of 3 nights stay applies. Probably the most basic category costs about 1 million won per person per night, but if a couple uses a standard room and minimum stay, the total cost is about 6 million won. It is a full board that provides all three meals, and considering the variety of programs offered, the price is quite reasonable. Disadvantage 1. The food is tasteless. No matter how healthy it is, it is truly tasteless. (No Flavor) Fortunately, dinner is made to order, so you can choose from a variety of menus, and because of the variety, there are quite a few dishes that taste good. but! Lunch is a real problem. Salads, main dishes, desserts, etc. that change every day are laid out in a buffet style, but there isn't a lot of variety so it doesn't seem to be plentiful at all and is shockingly tasteless compared to dinner. Our group all waited for dinner time, and every time we ate, we just talked about what we wanted to eat when we got back home. Even if it's healthy food or vegan food, it's not that it's not delicious, but the quality of the restaurant still seems to be below par. Improvement and effort are needed. You might wonder why you were forced to pay this money to eat this tasteless food. 2. Cost The price is quite attractive for Europeans, but it seems to be a bit unreasonable for Koreans. Cost may be an advantage for Europeans and a disadvantage for Koreans. Based on the minimum 3-night stay, it includes 3 spa visits, 1 fitness session (one-on-one session such as Pilates), one physical therapy session, and one additional optional session. All spas are based on 50 minutes, so even by Korean high-end spa standards, one time is 200,000 won, a one-on-one session such as Pilates is 100,000 won per time, and assuming you eat a total of 9 meals and charging 50,000 won per meal, it is 450,000 won. Spa 3 600,000 won per session, 3 sessions including pilates, 300,000 won, 9 meals 450,000 won -------------------- A total of 1.35 million won. Of course, the daily activity classes are free and anyone can take them (yoga, dance, meditation, aquarobics, etc.), but it is difficult to do them more than twice a day, and even if you set a generous 100,000 won per session for a total of 6 sessions, it costs 600,000 won. , even if you add this, it is 1.95 million won. Adding to this the cost of a flight to Chiva Som and the car pick-up service since it is a 3-hour drive from Bangkok Airport to Chiva Som... I thought it might be a good idea to spend three days in luxury at home. Add a comprehensive health checkup here. 3. Alcohol and cell phones are prohibited. As it is a wellness resort, alcohol is only sold after 6 p.m. Since it felt like they had no choice but to sell it, there was only one type of wine per country. (No choice) Beer is non-alcoholic. Of all the drinks, the coconut was the most delicious... I was really glad that the coffee was pretty good. Cell phones are not allowed inside the resort. Of course, you can't take pictures. In fact, I felt relieved to be free from my cell phone during my stay. The fact that something that could have been considered an advantage has been turned into a disadvantage is probably due to the uniqueness of being Korean??? Even though I have Alzheimer's disease and can't even drink a glass of wine, I couldn't eat any more without the tasteless food and alcohol. (So, is this a strategy for losing weight?) It can also be a torment to those who live closely with social media. Since cell phones can only be used in two places: the guest room and the library, we all rushed to our guest rooms as soon as the program ended. Personal impressions: What impressed me the most was Chiba Som’s spa. It doesn't feel very luxurious or beautiful, but it's really clean and professional, and the therapists are all above a certain level. (Considering that in some places, the service varies greatly depending on the therapist, this is truly commendable.) The spa programs were very detailed (there were dozens of types at first glance), so I looked forward to the spa programs every day. After 3 days, my trapezius muscles seemed to have completely disappeared! (Of course, it comes right away as soon as I come to Korea...) It's a shame that I couldn't enjoy the jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, aqua aerobics, etc. because I couldn't take time off from work at the resort. I would like to go back at least once if I had room in my wallet.
