Splendid Palace in Buyukada

Stayed at the Splendid Palace Hotel on Büyükada and loved it. The building itself is historic (1908) and has so much character. We booked a suite — a bit pricey but worth every bit for the comfort and views. Breakfast was delicious, the pool was relaxing, and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive.

A highlight was sitting on the front porch in the evening and at breakfast, with sweeping views across the water to the city. A beautiful mix of history, relaxation, and great service. Definitely recommend if you’re planning a visit to the island.

Splendid Hotel on Büyükada offers a truly mystical and romantic experience, with its beautifully preserved historical charm. On the ground floor, you’ll find the Splendid Patisserie, where you absolutely must try the profiterole before leaving. Easily reachable by ferry from Istanbul, Büyükada is a perfect spot for a short weekend escape. While here, don’t miss the chance to explore the island by bike or on foot, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and feeling as if you’re living the island life. In the evening, also known as the Prince’s Island, Büyükada offers lively entertainment venues where you can experience both joy and nostalgia in equal measure.

Our stay at the Splendid Palace Hotel was a memorable experience from start to finish. We stayed in a suite, which was a bit of an investment but absolutely worth it for the comfort, spaciousness, and unique character of the room. Breakfast was excellent, with a generous selection of fresh and delicious options. The staff were professional, attentive, and always ready to assist. Relaxing by the pool was another highlight, with well-kept facilities and a calm, inviting atmosphere. Evening on the front porch was unforgettable — enjoying a drink while looking out across the channel at the city lights is an experience not to be missed. If you are visiting Büyükada, the Splendid Palace Hotel offers more than accommodation; it offers a step into the island’s history, combined with warm hospitality and outstanding service. We had a wonderful experience staying here for a single night in June. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. The hotel building is gorgeous and the interior is decorated so well. It gave me a feeling of what it would be like to live in the late 19th century.

The breakfast was incredibly delicious and they had gluten free selections, which we appreciated.

Pool was great as well. The library was comfortable and quiet with a great selection of books and places to relax with the sea breeze coming in through the windows. Its rare to find such a nicely preserved and decorated old world room.

One of the managers helped my girlfriend pick out a nice ring and was so knowledgeable about the hotel.

We can’t wait to come back!
