We are Platinum Elite members with Marriott. We were staying nearby the resort wanted to get a massage at the spa when we called hotel we ended up getting hung up on 3 times before giving up (went to another spa). That was probably the red flag moment but next day we decided stop by the resort to eat lunch at the restaurant. Before we entered the lobby an employee screened us at the door and says we need to pay 100 Euros to get inside. I'm asking her what's the 100 Euros for and after a weird conversation we find out it's for a minimum spend at the resort. So then I ask the 100 Euros fee will be applied for food and drink? And they say yes. Our plan was a light lunch so I tell them give us a minute to decide. Still very weird but we say ok at least its not a fee for the privilege just to breathe the air in the lobby lol. I think we caught them off guard when we said yes ok. Now we talk to the receptionist and he's like its 100 Euros per person. I go I'm here for a lunch with my wife come see the property maybe stay in the future I'm not ordering 200 Euros of food for lunch. Then after some pauses and delays he says okay we have a lounge bar area you can order food drinks there and just pay for what you order. I go great okay then an employee guides us to the area in the hotel maybe to make sure we don't run around unauthorized areas. Service staff was great during lunch no issues. But we've been to many JW resorts, Ritz-Carltons, ect. Plus we are Marriott Vacation Club owners for over 20 years. Hands down worst experience overall hopefully they learn from this review and make future loyal Marriott customers feel welcome vs what we experienced. One positive they got some cool art work on display
