Kapya Cunda in Ayvalik

The hotel was very clean and staff and owners were friendly and helpful.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and open buffet breakfast had great pastries.
However what I was disappointed at the end of our stay was when I was asked to pay for “extras”, for 3 bottles of water (which is acceptable), 2 mugs of camomile tea and boiled carrot that I had requested on third day of our stay, because I had food poisoning at another cafe (not at this hotel), water, tea and carrot what I was able to drink or eat to help me to get better. Having paid my hotel fee in cash, and being Turkish myself, I had wrongly anticipated not to be charged for a boiled carrot and 2 camomile tea! After all we Turks are known for our hospitality and caring for sick. I was very disappointed to be asked to pay for a carrot but I did pay up 110 TL for carrot, tea and water. I don’t think I’ll stay at this hotel again where everything is considered a commercial opportunity…considering I couldn’t have the breakfast on my last day, I should not have been charged for so called extras. I was not feeling well enough to argue over 110TL.
Having returned home now and checked hotel’s room prices it feels as if we are conned, because room prices are much cheaper than what I had paid for!
I had booked directly with the hotel and was told the price was 1,350TL per night bed and breakfast. When I offered to pay in cash, they reduced it to 1,250 which I now know was still more expensive than what they have advertised on booking.com or tatilsepeti.
So lesson learned, next time shop around a bit more before booking directly through the hotel which doesn’t mean you get a better price.
