Simurg Inn Hotel in Canakkale

Given all the hype surrounding this place, I was rather excited to visit it... Can't really comment about the accomodation as we didn't stay overnight, but although it is a neatly renovated stone building, located in a lovely area, I thought there was just no oomph about the place. The food also was mediocre at best. The tortellinis we were served were dry and seemed to have been reheated and the meat was flavorless. The next disappointment then was the bill, which was comparable to big city prices, and had a hidden table charge! Overall I think this place is overrated and overpriced. Would seek out other options in the area.

As a travel agent and traveler, I have been to many places all over the world, from hostels to luxury hotels, staying at Simurg Inn was a very nice experience. The service was excellent and the food was gourmet+.
BUT they do not have a tourism hospitality code. Usually at hotels or even hostels you sign your expenses during your stay so you can control them. We were a party of 7 and they never presented the bill. In such a case, we thought it was included, but on the second day, they started showing it to us occasionally when we specifically asked for it...
It has 8 rooms and we reserved 3 rooms. When we arrived at the hotel they offered us a different room than the one we booked as the hotel was empty we were sure we got an upgrade. Upon our check out we realized this was not an upgrade! They gave us a higher priced room without informing us. Moreover, they played with our bill, while the reservation prices were shown in Euros, but at check-out they asked for the payment in higher Turkish Liras, and they billed us 400€ higher than the price we paid our deposit for. As you can see, we got scammed...
So be aware! And keep track of your expenses.
Other than that, his nature was beyond normal.
