On the way to Murrayfield do yourself a favour, buy temporary membership and have a drink inside. Wonderful! Bit of history. Tartan carpets included. And the best meat pies in Edinburgh if not Scotland.
11.12.2025 David
Room was nice but the mattress was too hard and it’s just too noisy being that close the main roads at Haymarket in an old building

Great location for the rugby and right on bus, train and tram routes. It's basic but clean and decent value for money. Good bars and restaurants nearby.

Friendly staff, the room was huge. Can see its wearing down. Need update redecorate it. It doesn’t bother me.

TV need update, unable to use it.

The room and facilities were basic but good, other than a slow shower drain. Good job gaurds!

Clean room, friendly staff, and an excellent location. This no-frills hotel is perfect for a night or two’s stay.

The carpet is out dated with stains all over, the bathtub leaked, the windows are old with peeling paint. There are water stains on the ceiling and paint cracking around wall lamps etc. For the price we paid it is over priced in this condition. There was hair on the coffee cup saucers in the room and the bathroom door couldn’t be opened all the way for access to the sink. You had to close the door to get past the tub for the mirror and sink. The attendant was fabulous and helped us with information we asked for. He was extremely nice! Great job on him!

This property is an old property that needs renovating. In saying that it was clean and our king room was huge.
Khaled checked us in and he was very helpful, friendly and explained everything about the property.
It is in a great location but on a main road opposite Waterloo train station. This is why we chose it for 1 night prior to catching a train early the next morning.

It’s very inexpensive for the area and needs updating hence the price.

I’d recommend it as long as you are not expecting anymore that a 3 star hotel.

Staff very nice, baggage storage before check in was great, carpet old, linens clean, would stay again. Excellent location!

For £37 what do you expect?!
Basic room with ensuite. Shower for freezing cold and I could hardly fit under it. Large business building looks right into the bathroom and easy to see people in the shower. Location is awful ....woken at 5am with the noise of bin lorries, trams buses etc. Checked out at 8 am....couldn't get out fast enough!
What do you expect for £37?!

Food was good but to many waiters and we felt like they were pushing us out!! They started clearing the table before we even left and only gave us approx 20 seconds before asking if the bill was ready!!! Wouldn't recommend if you want to cherish your food!! If you go here chew quickly or they will take your plate away!!

Good food. Pleasant staff. They have a menu in Chinese which has items on it which are not on the English menu. It usually has a regular stream of Chinese customers which is the best recommendation.

We ordered food from this restaurant through hungry house...Food arrived quickly, it seemed like it's reasonably priced, and I managed to eat the spring rolls...this is as good as it gets I'm afraid!
The rest of the food was terrible! Chicken was dry, old and the sauce with it was way too sweet but like loads of sugar was added! The hot and sour soup smelt like vinegar, tasted like metal and all the ingredients were over cooked! Maybe we are used to good food but this, I wouldn't even give it to my dog! Ah and the beef curry... the beef was chewy and fatty! The beef had a consistency of old,dry meat! The curry sauce with rice... I had to spit it out it was so bad! Sorry for the long winded review but unless you want to waste your money go somewhere else! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Ordered food via hungryhouse. Food arrived on time - that was the only good thing - on time!. The food was horrific - worst Chinese food we have ever tasted. Curry sauce far too salty. Crispy shredded chicken with chili sauce was disgustingly sweet/as if tablespoons of sugar were added! The food looked old/ dry/ reheated and inconsistent. Hot and sour soup - tasted shockingly bad and the smell alone was indication enough not to taste it. Food went straight in the bin and I contacted hungry house who then contacted restaurant who told them it was of their normal standard. I cannot advise enough that ordering here is a complete waste of money and that the food is inedible. I never leave reviews but felt if restaurant won't take feedback via hungry house then google review is the only way to get the message across. Restaurant refused to refund the bill and again stated that the food was of their normal standard. Had to add one star so I could post review - no option to just give review with 0 stars.

Went here for a work Christmas dinner and the food was brilliant. Loads of different types of dumplings which were gorgeous!
19.12.2017 Alistair
A great place to visit for a real taste of Chinese dumplings. If you haven't been before don't be afraid to say so to the staff who will then ensure you get the best out of your visit.

I would never come again. The food arrived 1 hour and 10 mins later than the confirmed time. When I called the restaurant, they always said only 10 mins, it would arrive. But never arrived. They said if you order more than £30, you will get a small box of dumplings, but we didn’t get it. The food quality is not good either. Very expensive, service is extremely bad! Don’t recommend to anyone.
20.11.2017 Rachel
Nice food, particularly the dumplings and the aubergine dish but service was quite poor. Very slow service by waiting staff and seemingly no communication between them. We had the banquet which had a lot of tasty dishes but we did not receive one of everything, again I think related to poor communication between staff.
06.10.2017 Martin
Really good quality food at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and attentive. The dumplings are amazing!!! Don't expect anything fancy when you walk in, it's basic and all about the food!
