This place has changed it's name from The Inn at Jack London Square, not to be confused with another place nearby called Jack London Square Inn which has a poor reputation. They made cosmetic changes to the outside, and slowly making changes inside. The headboards and bedding looks new. I loved their redone walk in shower without a need for a shower door. Still has old furniture, not enough conveniently located power plugs, no USB power ports. Cover of one AC outlet was broken. No mini-fridge nor microwave. They charge USD 2.75 for their bottled water in the room. Beautiful outdoor swimming pool is now finally heated, before it wasn't. They upped their prices. The room is kind of still tight spaced, air conditioning/ heating works. Overall a pleasant stay, comfortable sleep, a decent hotel for Jack London Square.
Great location! Near wonderful food and the bay. Good sized pool, opens at 8 am. Has a tony gym with mainly cardio equipment. The rooms are adequate. They do not put conditioner in the shower you have to ask. Beds were terrible.
Not too sure about the area surrounding the hotel as it was a base for the city. There are a few bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel. Ferry is just 5 minutes away walk away and runs till 9-10pm. Attached cafe/ restaurant 'buttercup' has great food at a reasonable price. On the downside- Booked a king room but was given a disabled Queen and although we were moved no real appolgy was given. Be warned that one block away is Amtrak line that runs along the dock and at every junction they have barriers with bells and the train has to sound their horns. I know it's a city and I live next to a train line so I am not being harsh but I would have expected a warning.
Clean room convenient location relatively inexpensive
Hidden gem. Most would never know this hotel was there and honestly it's probably better that way. Once you step thru the doors the fact that your downtown disappears which is nice. It's its own little world. Beautiful courtyard with pool,soda machines, gym. The only downfalls. Room was a little small and secure parking is $30! That's way steep in my opinion. Overall is was a nice stay.
Love the Z-Hotel! This is my go-to place when I travel to Oakland. It is a very clean, pleasant and relaxing facility located at the edge of beautiful Jack London Square and within walking distance to great entertainment and eateries, including world-renowned Yoshi’s. I highly recommend this hotel—definitely two thumbs up!!!
The lobby is tidy, the surveillance system is decent as well. The room was also spacious and very tidy. We really enjoyed our stay here. All was good enough to make you feel like you're at home and support you with everything. We're going to be here again. I would definitely recommend this cozy spot to all of my colleagues.
Very comfortable been here 7 or 8 times and have had a good stay. This time I was charged $25/day for parking which seemed like a lot. The place looks newly refurbished and nice. The pool area is great. Rooms aren't really soundproof so if you have noisy neighbors it could be a problem. Very convenient to the harbor and the BART station and Chinatown.
Place was very clean. Our room previously had mold or something because I had intense allergies during the night. Which only happens if there are mold spores around. Was good
for the most part. Katie was really great, but the other lady we encountered did not have any type of friendly mannerisms being in charge of the front desk. You can say hi and be friendly, not even an acknowledgement...

Overall the place is nice. However it does come across as an old dodgy motel that has been renovated. The rooms were clean and had all of the necessities... Decent beds, hair dryer, mini fridge, iron. The pool area was very nice, they also had a small gym and office area. They have gated parking but do know it's $25 a night. There is also a dinner connected to the parking lot, which means you don't have to go far for food. It's walking distance from most everything in Jack London square, so the location is great! My only complaint is the walls are paper thin, so pray your neighbors aren't partiers. I also think it's slightly overpriced but I guess you're paying for location more than anything.

Incredible food and service. I was served by Regina and met the owner Carlos and unexpectedly had the best dinner. Outstanding.

Not worth the price at ALL. The lomo saltado was dry. Maybe because we got it to go but not good enough to give it another try. Worst out of Tamboo and Mixtura for sure.

The most disappointed experience. The food is tasteless (and expensive for what you get) and in some plates the taste is plainly terrible. I ordered "seco de cordero", not very good taste at all; my girlfriend ordered "picante de mariscos" and she almost throw it out of her mouth. We have to leave quickly so we can go and find the closest bakery to grab something sweet that will kill the horrible taste left in our mouths. This was our first time in this restaurant and it will be the last. Save your money and find other better Peruvian restaurants in the Bay.

We had such an incredible experience here. I had all this family in town and we were looking for a place to eat for 14 people. It was early so when we stopped in we had the place to ourselves. They basically hosted a private dinner for us, with amazing food, drinks and service. Really a memorable and fantastic experience for a group of midwestern family that had probably never had Peruvian.

Generous portions so it’s not too pricey if you look at it this way, I went with one other person and got 2 cocktails and 2 entrees which totaled $60 including tip. I would go there again. If you want chicken and waffles this is the place to go

Honestly I have nothing bad to say about this place. It has such a unique Vibe which I really enjoy. The staff is friendly, food is always delicious. I've never been disappointed whenever I have came here

The one chicken breast is like half the size of a rotisserie chicken, probably a pound. It was juicy, not greasy, and the fried outside was crunchy. Fried chicken like I haven't had since my Southern mama passed! I had leftovers to go. The waffle is big and sublime. Grits are done right, plenty of butter. Sides of mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes were tasty.
Marking down one star for slow and not completely accurate service. Didn't notice any dirt in the restaurant or restroom.
If you want soul/Southern food in Oakland, this is the place.

This place is very comfy and welcoming. The food is AMAZING. The options are great and they have a full bar. I got the chicken wings with a waffle and Mac n cheese. Great portions and tastes great. Loved our waitress! Very nice and sang a beautiful song for a birthday at the table next to us.
