Red Lion Inn & Suites Sacramento in Sacramento

We drove 4 he's with a 1 1/2 year old. We get there at 3( check in time is 3pm) and we are told its going to be almost an hours wait. No clean rooms available. Not 1 room clean and we had reservations. No fridge, no microwave, pool is permanently closed. Nothing important that is advertised, is available. Don't waste your time. Homeless everywhere. Not a good deal. Holiday inn express is twice as much, but the breakfast, in the morning, pays for the extra costs.

The door latch is a hasty repair from when it's been kicked in. The bathroom light doesn't work. The key card pad for the door downstairs doesn't work so I have to walk to the other end of the hotel and walk up exterior stairs to get to the 3rd floor door, which doesn't have a lock at all. The one lamp doesn't have a shade. They didn't set a code for parental lock on the TV, so some previous customer did and now I can't watch ANY of the movie channels. The TV has probably never been wiped down. There is no provision for making coffee, not that I'd use it if there were.

Oh and they're renovating about half the hotel, so that walk up the exterior stairs carrying all my stuff was past a bunch of workers, a pressure washer (!), And all the air conditioners pumping 100 degree air at me.

The guy at the front desk has been as helpful as he could, but this place is not ready for guests.

Zero stars. Below expectations. I called several times with no one picking up. I drove down to the office and no one was at the desk, even after ringing the desk bell, so I called while standing there and someone picked up the phone and hung up, heard them from the lobby so this. Once checked in I was told the elevator might not work and that would be the only way up to the rooms, so if the elevator did not work I would have no access to my room. The room smelt of urine. I went back to the office and was told I would get a refund. That refund never happened.

We choose the Red Lion Inn Sacramento for it's name and location close to Sutter Medical Center. In looking at the website the rooms and grounds looked nice. Not 4 or 5 star but certainly a very nice, clean well kept 3+ star. It looked updated which appealed to us.
When we go into our rooms, boy what a shock! 1st the rooms weren't anything like the photos we saw on the website! They must have a few nice looking, updated ones they use for the photos. The drape was held up partly with a rubber band. It didn't keep the light out at night very well. Lamp shades were torn and filthy! Furniture old and badly beat up. Bed itself was uneven and lumpy. Pillows very uncomfortable. Bring your own. The towel bars are too close to the toilet, so when you sit down a towel hits your face! Bathroom was so tiny! Shower head was good though and nice hot water!
Non-slip strips are worn off bottom of the tub, Be careful.
We had 2 king rooms. Both lots of problems.
Small children running in the hall up until 2 AM.
People with cats and dogs living here.
Was very dissapointed in our stay and the quality of this hotel! Gone WAY DOWNHILL!!! NOT WORTH THE MONEY WE PAID!
