This is an old beautiful hotel. You do go down a set of stairs to the breakfast area.Quite a variety of buffet foods. Lots of tables to sit at and separate rooms with fireplaces. Nice ambiance. This is an unconventional stay, right in the middle of downtown SFO, that takes you back to Victorian times.

Location is so good. However, there are several homeless guys near hotel. Not violent to hit passengers but make the surrounding of hotel a bit messy. Most of staffs are polite and do good in duty of service. Very convenient to reach MRT station , supermarket and Ross for shopping .

It's not fancy, the rooms are more bedroom sized than hotel room sized, extremeconvenient for the Union Square / Moscone area (and much cheaper than the bigger hotels around there). As long as you're not a hotel snob you'll be fine. Street noise can be a bit loud if you're facing 4th, though.

For the location it's not to bad. If your coming for work or have busy days out this isn't that bad. Definitely not so much of a hangout I'm your room if you have downtime.
