The Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in San Francisco boasts an excellent location, right next to the cable car turnaround, and within walking distance of popular attractions like Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel offers thoughtful Chinese-speaking service, making communication seamless and very friendly for Chinese travelers. Rooms are clean and tidy, with some higher-floor rooms offering city...
Stayed for 4 days, and it was great. The room was spacious and clean, and housekeeping cleaned it daily. It felt very safe, with no homeless people around. The hotel locks its main entrance at midnight, and you can only enter with your room key card. There are plenty of restaurants and a supermarket on the street behind the hotel, making it very convenient. Both bus stops and cable car stops are nearby...
No water provided, had to buy our own. Still haven't received my deposit back after 8 days, even though they said it would take a maximum of one week at check-out.
Excellent hotel in a great location with friendly staff. It’s my second time here for a longer stay than previously and I will definitely return again!
Holiday Inn is always a reliable choice! 👍
The hotel's location is excellent, in one of San Francisco's safer areas. It's also quite close to Chinatown and the Financial District, with convenient public transport access and plenty of supermarkets and pharmacies downstairs. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the front desk service is attentive, and there's even a gym and pool with no resort fee
Pros-Hotel was clean, staff were pleasant, and the parking price of $49 per night was better than many hotels.
Cons-Ordered a roll-away for one night and it wasn't in the room when we returned. Called the front desk and was told that they didn't have room for it. In all fairness, they offered us access to a double room, but it was too late and too much of a hassle to change. Very inconvenient in...

An older hotel, but the location is excellent: quiet, safe, with good service, and free luggage storage. I had a very good experience; the front desk staff were very friendly and approachable!
The location is excellent, right in the city center. The front desk staff were very friendly and checked me in quickly. The room was clean and comfortable. The only issue was the air freshener they used; it smelled strongly of 'luosifen' (snail noodle soup), which was a bit overwhelming. Everything else was great.
I have to say, the location is great, but unfortunately the facilities at this hotel aren't the best; they're old and not well-maintained. The person at the front desk was incredibly rude. We were given a different room than the one we booked, and when we tried to switch, she refused to help us and said there was nothing available without even checking. It wasn't until we asked to speak to the manager...
The overall location is good and transport links are convenient, but the hotel is a bit old, though it is still clean.
The location is super convenient, right across from Union Square. The room isn't huge but it's enough, though the central AC is old and only goes up to 68°F. Late February in SF is quite cold, and I ended up catching a cold. I had to wear a light down jacket and pile on blankets. The staff were all very polite, and luggage storage was free. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily. Heading east from the...
First time at the hotel. Location is unbeatabke and the staff very friendly. Room was a little small but comfortable.
The hotel could not be more central if you want to explore San Francisco for 1-3 days. The room was modern, spacious and very clean plus equipped well. The hotel Is throughout well maintained and clean

Great, helpful staff. Clean rooms and location is near a lot of things.
really clean, efficient, nice staff, love the 24/7 front desk. they also were super helpful tagging and holding my luggage for me. I was able to check in and out with ease, and used their fitness room too. small but enough equipment to workout! pretty close to the water which is nice, and love the chilled water and guest request closet
The check-in kiosks were down for quite a while upon arrival. Couldn’t check into the room until they were fixed. No food or drink beyond coffee or tea; not including room service.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Gym on site with useful equipment.
We love this hotel. The location is very convenient where you could find the cable car station, take a walk to the ferry building and fisherman market. The staff are very nice and the breakfast was excellent.
Pretty basic place, rooms are very small but functional. No aircon in the rooms as it is an older building. Some pluses like complimentary coffee, a large guest lounge area and a laundry room. Suitable for short stays on a budget.
Perfect for solo and business travelers. They leave you alone. It’s clean and quiet and extremely affordable. No pet fee, which is really nice. Option for self-service check-in/out. Free laundry machines, really great vending machines, fabulous Yemenese coffee shop across the street.

The Pickwick Hotel is in a very convenient location near Market Street, making it easy to get around San Francisco. The rooms are a bit old, but they are clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. The staff were friendly and check-in was smooth.
However, the surrounding area can feel a little unsafe at night, so I recommend being careful if you walk around late. Also, the hotel facilities are...
The room was a bit small, but thankfully the location is in a business center, yet it's quiet at night. It has a coffee machine and a particularly large fridge, giving it a feel of a star-rated hotel. My only issue was during check-in; I parked my car in an alley outside the hotel that was a no-parking zone. I was really anxious to drop off my luggage and move the car, but the two Chinese guests in...
The hotel left a mixed impression. The building itself is quite old, which is noticeable throughout the property. The air conditioning in the room was not working, making it very hot and uncomfortable, especially at night. The gym is also in poor condition — the equipment is outdated and needs renovation.
Housekeeping was consistent, but the cleaner came every morning at 9:00 AM, which was not always...
The location is fantastic, within walking distance to Union Square and close to the cable car stop. The hotel is a bit old, and personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the wooden smell, but airing out the room helped a little.
The hotel's location is excellent, with a large supermarket and many restaurants nearby. However, the soundproofing in the rooms is poor, and bottled water is not provided, so you'll need to bring your own.
nice and clean but dated rooms. good security with locked doors though!

This hotel is amazing in every way. It is super clean and well located. Best of all, the weekend staff is very helpful and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Probably some of the nicest and most attentive stafff I’ve seen in any hotel. Especially M.
Good location and friendly staf
It would be nice if there was breakfast.
The interior environment is good, but the room is very small. Although the location is good, there is a social shelter in San Francisco next door. It seems that there are homeless people.
Good Convenient location Paid parking available
The room is well-equipped, clean and tidy. The location is very close to the city center, which is very convenient. The service staff is very nice and helpful in solving various problems. I am quite satisfied with this stay.

Good location! Nice breakfast! Quite and clean room.
Small rooms, but otherwise a great hotel. The location is really convenient for getting around downtown with easy access to public transportation. The breakfast was satisfying and saved time and money. Didn't need to park or use the gym, so no opinions there. The rooftop has a spectacular view of the city. Don't let the bad reviews fool you, this is a great find. Yes, the unhoused population is pretty...
Very clean and comfortable. Reasonable price. Convenient location. Sadly, a lot of homeless people in the immediate vicinity. They did not bother us at all, but we didn't go out much after dark.
For a 3-star hotel, this place gets it done without fuss. The manager was able to switch me into a room that had a desk, and it was clean and serviced daily during my stay. The breakfast area and fitness room are small but adequate. If you are arriving by car and not planning on driving during your stay, I'd recommend the Ingka Centres Garage (945 Market Street) which is only 2 blocks away. You can...
Very experience clean and friendly staff
Location close to public transportation but in a not very advisable area of the city. Facilities are fine, but room cleaning service is insufficient. Breakfast service uses single-use plates and cutlery, which is not very eco-friendly.

Location is so good. However, there are several homeless guys near hotel. Not violent to hit passengers but make the surrounding of hotel a bit messy. Most of staffs are polite and do good in duty of service. Very convenient to reach MRT station , supermarket and Ross for shopping .
The Mosser is an amazing hotel in an excellent location. It was clean and the staff was friendly!
One of the closest hotels to Moscone Center, the location is great for conferences. Basic facilities are decent but a bit old and the space is quite cramped.
The location is very ideal, it’s in the heart of everything you need, trader Joe’s is right next door. The hotel staff are all very kind and friendly. Everything is clean. The street is safe and much better than any of the other areas for similar priced hotels.
I had a really pleasing time as i was pretty exhausted. The room was super clean and i will definitely come back here. Not to mention the staff was super friendly. Thank you guys.
It's not fancy, the rooms are more bedroom sized than hotel room sized, extremeconvenient for the Union Square / Moscone area (and much cheaper than the bigger hotels around there). As long as you're not a hotel snob you'll be fine. Street noise can be a bit loud if you're facing 4th, though.

This was the best value hotel stay we have had in San Francisco in 20+ years of traveling here on business. The corner king room I stayed in was very comfortable and spacious. My experience at the hotel exceeded my expectations, offering fantastic value for money. Additionally, Jerome Clay was very talented and a great entertainer...
Absolutely a wonderful experience staying at the Marine Memorial Club. The staff is extremely professional, friendly, helpful and the property is outstanding.
Everyone smiled and made me feel welcome; I could not have asked for more. My husband and I had a great stay at Marines' Memorial. Eda was fantastic, and Nikita at the front desk was super helpful. I forgot my cell, and she ran after me! The staff was very nice overall. My experience exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was no ordinary weekend stay. The Marines Memorial Club occupies a singular place in San Francisco — not just geographically, but spiritually. Everything you could want from San Francisco is within easy reach, yet stepping...

Everything went well, i would definitely recommend. Staff upgraded my room for my birthday and a few signed a card for me with some chocolates. It was very sweet! The room was nice and clean, and staff was really friendly. The onllly "bad" thing was the price of parking, $60 per night. We were able to find street parking thank God. But When i visit again, will definitely book with them
The hotel itself was pretty decent, especially given the location and price. Not the greatest neighborhood but that goes for a lot of downtown SF. Convenient to civic center or moscone. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and well kept, the pool area is very nice, there is only an ice machine located on every other floor, it was kind of a pain but nothing major. Great place to leave the stress of the city behind. Quiet oasis of a hotel. Once you've checked in you go up to an open-air layout that brings the peace of security with fresh air enviorns. The staff is always courteous and accommodating. And ya gotta love the heated pool! Sweet!
The hotel was within walking distance of the Moscone center, although it was through a sketchy part of San Francisco (not the worst part, though). The hotel itself was nice with great sheets and towels, and the rooms were small for our needs but fine for a group of 4 or 5. Service was good even at odd times in the night.

While the hotel is a bit dated, the rooms are spacious. It's well-managed, spotlessly clean, and the staff provide warm, friendly service. Plus, breakfast is included. Highly recommended!
Hotel is definitely old and gives an antique look. Room was spacious and comfortable. There was microwave , and cutlery available which is very convenient if you are staying with a kid. We went during New Year’s Eve so check in and parking was quite busy. Couldn’t find a spot in the loading for valet. But the overall stay was affordable, clean, and very nice. The hotel is super cute and looks like the photos.
Great location in the city. Clean new rooms. Hotel and room is great. Just many unhoused people in the area
One small lift for the entire hotel building. Pray it does not break during your stay :)
The staffing was great, vintage old look inside. They did had Valet but will suggest not to leave anything in the car due to homeless all around SF.
Front desk was nice, rooms were clean for the most part, AC unit did it’s job, beds were pretty comfortable for the one night we were there, decent location for food and drinks, would recommend for one or two night trips for the price
Neat old hotel, right downtown near Union Square. Clean but very small rooms, lots of street noise and homeless.

Good sides:
1. The breakfast is basic but decent. Toast, butter, jam, plain yogurt, eggs, pancakes, and some fruit(apples/oranges), along with coffee.

The room was great value for money. The breakfast at the restaurant was also delicious! The staff were very patient in answering all my questions, thank you!
Customer-oriented people. Close to the metro.
Friendly and helpful concierge. Breakfast was moderate but ok. Location was challenging if you have luggages.
Enjoy my stay. Breakfast is enough and tasty. A bit of steep walk to get to the hotel, but that’s SF in general.

This was a great value for a budget hotel. I have read some negative reviews but that was not my experience. Like you'll read in other reviews, the surrounding streets are rife with homeless people. As in, if you walk around at all then you'll encounter a handful wherever you go. If this bothers you, just don't stay in this area, period. Anyway, I arrived a few hours early and they were nice enough to let me check in early. Unfortunately my first room smelled weird, faintly like a public bathroom stall. So...
The hotel could use a little bit of love, its in pretty good condition, but has some small things that could be improved and fixed. Very good location and services
This hotel is adorable. The staff are so kinda and welcoming and it is so clean! We stayed in a king room that was overlooking the bay…it was so beautiful and peaceful. I highly recommend. 😊
The good: excellent location, right near the Embarcadero and the Bay Bridge. Easy access to BART and MUNI.

A nice hotel in a beautiful location. It's an old building, which has its charm. No breakfast is available, but they do offer coffee and a cookie in the morning—but for $25, that's just not good. I'd look for something with a decent breakfast next time.
The location is excellent.

I stayed here on a business trip. The location was great and travel was very smooth.
The rooms were clean and quiet, allowing me to relax after work.
The staff were very polite, and I had an overall comfortable stay.
I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.
Good hot breakfast and nice wine and cheese plates at nights
The staff were wonderful, the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Would have been 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact that I was continually woken up because I could hear every noise on the street outside and in the rooms next to me and above me. I don’t consider myself I light sleeper. If the hotel had provided earplugs on the nightstand or something this would have helped a lot.
This hotel has cool antique style, the bartender was so friendly, and when there was a hiccup with my room the staff acted promptly and respectfully. Plus, excellent bedding, thoughtfully placed lighting, and a great hot shower. Will stay here again!
Nice hotel in a convenient area. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast is continental and not worth getting out of bed for.
The room was very clean and was actually a lot bigger than I thought

Olden style hotel for those who like to experience a historical hotel setting. Very boutique and niche. Small breakfast options
A bit dated when it comes to electrical outlets and the windows but overall was very cozy and I would come back!
Great location walking distance to Japantown and The Fillmore. Adorable Victorian charm. Parking is right across the street in an open lot. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Friendly helpful staff. Coffee available 24/7. Continental Breakfast included. Great value for the location. We would definitely stay here again.
The room was clean. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
Staff was amazing, decor was immaculate! The king suite with the jacuzzi tub was the best. Everything was clean and tidy, and we can’t wait to go back!
Excellent hotel. Great staff. Great location. Really nice room. Not a fan of the small continental breakfast
