Always great coming back to this hotel in SF. Great location and easy to get around the city.
Fantastic location, near to van ness California cable car line. Clean and comfortable
Location is not too bad. Bus stop is around the Conner. Uber from hotel to SFO airport about $60. From pier to hotel $13. There are a few restaurants on the next street.

Very fancy and historic. No longer runs as a Hotel though. It's now A SIP Shelter for the homeless
He's extremely talented and sweet, and on our anniversary, he even gave us a free late check-out! The hotel was in a good place, had a large number of rooms, and had very comfortable bedding. Our concierge, particularly the person who checked us in, was fantastic. The halls were spotless and silent. I'm sure we'll come back the next time. This hotel has received a lot of positive reviews.
I have been a guest at The Whitcomb hotel since the on set of covid-19. This hotel is closed to the public so my review will not encompass services. I instead would like to address the ghost in The Whitcomb Hotel rumors.
Are there ghosts in The Whitcomb Hotel?
There are indeed Spirit Souls here in the Whitcomb Hotel. I'm certain they are everywhere in the hotel I see them regularly walking through...
We stayed here December of 2019.
The Hotel was Clean and tidy.
Staff was friendly.
The Hotel is older, and out of Date.
It’s situated in a good area, for tourist. Within walking distance to union square. And on the big red bus tour rout.
The room was clean, the bathroom was very dated.
The cost was very affordable for this time of year in comparison To other Hotel in the Area.
My family truly adores this amazing place. A good place to chill with family and relax. Trust me! You will never be disappointed for sure! They strive to provide us the best service that exceeds our expectations. We need to come back because it's a good one. A five-stars satisfaction rating all the way for this hotel. Nice!
Beautiful building. Great location. Super nice staff. Fabulous pricing. I loved my little one person room. Definitely recommend Hotel Whitcomb.

The location is unbeatable. Union Square is directly across from the main entrance, and the building at the back connects to a parking garage. The cable car terminus and BART station are just a short walk from the exit, making it convenient for airport transfers and getting around. However, the front desk staff had a terrible attitude. We were driving a rental car and wanted to check in and leave our...
A well located hotel with good transport connections and restaurants nearby and a hop on hop off stop right across.
Didn’t like the feel of this hotel- our room was very dark and dingy but quiet.. Good location and nice staff. Parking was extortionate.
We booked this hotel based on the location and price. I emailed ahead and told them we were celebrating birthdays. When we got there we had been upgraded.
The hotel is clean with comfortable beds. It is dated in places, but this is because it is an old hotel with lots of history.
There are rail, bus and tram stops near by.
I would recommend this hotel.
Location is the best thing about it. Hotel itself was pleasant and clean. Room was okay. You get what you pay for. I guess if you want a more aesthetic room you’d have to upgrade or look for other hotels which may cost more. The room service was great. The staffs are helpful. One security guided us to where we could use the microwave. He was really kind. It’s just sad that parking is pricey. I’d come...
Nice place.
Parking availability is a bonus.
The hotel could not be more central if you want to explore San Francisco for 1-3 days. The room was modern, spacious and very clean plus equipped well. The hotel Is throughout well maintained and clean

Great, helpful staff. Clean rooms and location is near a lot of things.
really clean, efficient, nice staff, love the 24/7 front desk. they also were super helpful tagging and holding my luggage for me. I was able to check in and out with ease, and used their fitness room too. small but enough equipment to workout! pretty close to the water which is nice, and love the chilled water and guest request closet
The check-in kiosks were down for quite a while upon arrival. Couldn’t check into the room until they were fixed. No food or drink beyond coffee or tea; not including room service.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Gym on site with useful equipment.
We love this hotel. The location is very convenient where you could find the cable car station, take a walk to the ferry building and fisherman market. The staff are very nice and the breakfast was excellent.
Pretty basic place, rooms are very small but functional. No aircon in the rooms as it is an older building. Some pluses like complimentary coffee, a large guest lounge area and a laundry room. Suitable for short stays on a budget.
Perfect for solo and business travelers. They leave you alone. It’s clean and quiet and extremely affordable. No pet fee, which is really nice. Option for self-service check-in/out. Free laundry machines, really great vending machines, fabulous Yemenese coffee shop across the street.

Pros: Great central location with easy access to transportation. The hotel has key card access and a gym. Cons: The room facilities are a bit old, and there's no dedicated space for luggage. There are homeless people downstairs, but it's generally safe. Soundproofing is poor; street noise, especially loud cars, can be disruptive. The room lights are motion-sensor activated and turn off automatically...
Room interior look old in my perpective (might ok or good for others). Great location, not too far from BART.
Everything was great, but the furniture is really old.
The location was great, very close to the city center. However, I did notice quite a few homeless people around. Also, be careful in the bathtub as it can be a bit slippery.
Exactly downtown San Francisco, close to Powell BART train station, 2 minutes walk from subway station and cable car terminal, it’s very convenient.
Hotel staff excellent service, room is clean. The only one minor thing is a bit noise when the bus pass by.
No matter what, I recommend.

Small rooms, but otherwise a great hotel. The location is really convenient for getting around downtown with easy access to public transportation. Don't let the bad reviews fool you, this is a great find. Yes, the unhoused population is pretty...
Very clean and comfortable. Reasonable price. Convenient location. Sadly, a lot of homeless people in the immediate vicinity. They did not bother us at all, but we didn't go out much after dark.
For a 3-star hotel, this place gets it done without fuss. The manager was able to switch me into a room that had a desk, and it was clean and serviced daily during my stay. The breakfast area and fitness room are small but adequate. If you are arriving by car and not planning on driving during your stay, I'd recommend the Ingka Centres Garage (945 Market Street) which is only 2 blocks away. You can...
Very experience clean and friendly staff
Location close to public transportation but in a not very advisable area of the city. Facilities are fine, but room cleaning service is insufficient. Breakfast service uses single-use plates and cutlery, which is not very eco-friendly.
The room was a bit small but very clean and quiet. I felt very safe thanks to the secure access at the hotel entrance. Its location is excellent, being less than a 5-minute walk from the subway station, and with a bus stop right outside, transportation is incredibly convenient.

Good location and friendly staf
It would be nice if there was breakfast.
The interior environment is good, but the room is very small. Although the location is good, there is a social shelter in San Francisco next door. It seems that there are homeless people.

The Mosser is an amazing hotel in an excellent location. It was clean and the staff was friendly!
One of the closest hotels to Moscone Center, the location is great for conferences. Basic facilities are decent but a bit old and the space is quite cramped.
The location is very ideal, it’s in the heart of everything you need, trader Joe’s is right next door. The hotel staff are all very kind and friendly. Everything is clean. The street is safe and much better than any of the other areas for similar priced hotels.
I had a really pleasing time as i was pretty exhausted. The room was super clean and i will definitely come back here. Not to mention the staff was super friendly. Thank you guys.
It's not fancy, the rooms are more bedroom sized than hotel room sized, extremeconvenient for the Union Square / Moscone area (and much cheaper than the bigger hotels around there). As long as you're not a hotel snob you'll be fine. Street noise can be a bit loud if you're facing 4th, though.
Upgraded to a room with 2 twin beds with a private bathroom, which they suggested was appropriate for 3 people. Super crammed for 3- would be much better for 2 people, but would have been too expensive for 2 people for what it was.

Had a really nice few days there. Staff were very helpful and mannerly.
Nice cozy place with lots of history. Great location. Good room size. Clean. Very friendly staff.
Eh. It's got a bed... and it's a comfortable one. Not worth the price imo but you can do worse. Tiny room and the walls are laughably thin. Pleasant staff.
I typically stay in the business chain hotels. Nice break from that. Room is unique and nice. People were nice. Breakfast was good.
I loved my stay there. The staff was super friendly and nice. Location was great and service too. There is a restaurant right inside the hotel where you can have brunch. Highly recommended!
The Hotel Carlton is my goto choice when I stay in SF. It is reliable, comfortable, affordable, in a fine location, while being a little quirky. Your likely to be entertained by the staff, with Theo as a standout for his humor, positivity and consistently good restaurant recommendations. My stay exceeded my expectations. The hotel provided good value and an interesting experience. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere, which allowed me to relax without feeling hustled. During my stay, my experience met my expectations. Although I didn't have specific comments about the room, I found the bellman to be very helpful and efficient. I would recommend this hotel to friends, family, and colleagues, and I am very likely to return on my next visit to the area.
We have been members of the Marine Memorial Club for over a decade and it never disappoints us. Although we have the ability to stay at other hotels, the MMC is special and our go to hotel when we are in SF. The staff is very special: they are long serving and greet us by name. During and after COVID they had limited gym facilities which was disappointing, but the relatively new gym is fantastic....
Prime location, prompt check-in, very reasonable price, and quality of services were all superb. The history and professionalism of the US Marine Corps was on full display. Always a delight to be guest at this exceptional property!
We loved staying at this historically charming hotel: everywhere you look there is history and military memorabilia. Great place to leave the stress of the city behind. Quiet oasis of a hotel. Once you've checked in you go up to an open-air layout that brings the peace of security with fresh air enviorns. The staff is always courteous and accommodating. And ya gotta love the heated pool! Sweet!
The hotel was within walking distance of the Moscone center, although it was through a sketchy part of San Francisco (not the worst part, though). The hotel itself was nice with great sheets and towels, and the rooms were small for our needs but fine for a group of 4 or 5. Service was good even at odd times in the night.
Rooms are small, but decently furnished. The modern decor takes a little to get used to, but fits the quirky overall style of the hotel. Each room has a safe, TV, and hairdryer. As well as the hotel itself has a pool, gym, and vending machine.
