An older hotel, but the location is excellent: quiet, safe, with good service, and free luggage storage. I had a very good experience; the front desk staff were very friendly and approachable!

The location is excellent, right in the city center. The front desk staff were very friendly and checked me in quickly. The room was clean and comfortable. The only issue was the air freshener they used; it smelled strongly of 'luosifen' (snail noodle soup), which was a bit overwhelming. Everything else was great.

I have to say, the location is great, but unfortunately the facilities at this hotel aren't the best; they're old and not well-maintained. The person at the front desk was incredibly rude. We were given a different room than the one we booked, and when we tried to switch, she refused to help us and said there was nothing available without even checking. It wasn't until we asked to speak to the manager that he easily sorted it out for us. I can't understand how that woman could be an employee of the year; she has absolutely no courtesy. I'm very dissatisfied with the service and wouldn't stay here again.

The overall location is good and transport links are convenient, but the hotel is a bit old, though it is still clean.

The location is super convenient, right across from Union Square. The room isn't huge but it's enough, though the central AC is old and only goes up to 68°F. Late February in SF is quite cold, and I ended up catching a cold. I had to wear a light down jacket and pile on blankets. The staff were all very polite, and luggage storage was free. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily. Heading east from the hotel, the main cable car line is easily accessible. I stayed for five days, using two lines back and forth, and bought two 3-day Muni passes. It served as both my commute and a way to explore all the attractions along the way. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. There are far fewer homeless people to the east of the hotel; I wouldn't recommend heading west. Overall, the value for money in this area is quite high!

As one of the nicest hotels in downtown San Francisco, I was very pleased with my stay at Handley.
The assistant manager was incredibly generous and kindly upgraded our room to a suite, which we truly appreciated. The staff overall was very friendly and attentive. We had a few questions about the amenities, and they answered everything politely and professionally.
The location is excellent — close to Union Square, the iconic San Francisco cable car lines, and many attractions within walking distance.
Since the hotel was built in 1930, the rooms do feel a bit outdated, but they were clean and spacious, which mattered most to us. The only downside was that the floors creaked and made noise when people walked by, which woke me up in the middle of the night.
That said, considering the prime location and the outstanding service, this minor issue would not stop me from staying here again or recommending it to others.

My Tesla charged overnight at the Union Square parking garage, about 100 meters from the hotel, which was very convenient as the hotel's own parking lot didn't have chargers and was more expensive. The hotel is across from the Westin and next to the Hilton, offering great value for money. No breakfast though.

Fantastic location, not far from the train station and less than 2mins to Union Sq by foot. Lovely staff, very professional, polite, and friendly.

We booked this hotel based on the location and price. I emailed ahead and told them we were celebrating birthdays. When we got there we had been upgraded.
The hotel is clean with comfortable beds. It is dated in places, but this is because it is an old hotel with lots of history.
There are rail, bus and tram stops near by.
I would recommend this hotel.

Dinner was great. Came back the next day for Wednesday pork chop special and told by new manager that had to wait an hour for menu to be available. At 3.30pm At the same time she went ahead with her staff and seated a couple that came after us. When asked why they said oh sorry and too bad for you and everyone else that was waiting to spend money have to wait til 4.30. She said she was new and unable to handle the job.
Wow. Never will go to daily grill again. Spent 300 first night in town. I have never written a review but because it popped up on my phone this is the first and it had to be bad. Daily grill is scratched from my list.

Came in at 11:00 am, we sat at the bar thinking faster service. We were told the kitchen is switching from breakfast to lunch, had to wait 10 minutes before they could make food. 45 minutes later we received our lunch. There was a bartender switch after our order was placed, and it was a shame, the bartender that came in had no care for his customers, stress on his face with every request. A couple came in and waited 20 minutes to even get a greeting...poor service.

Best option for good food on Union Square. We have been there for 3 times last 2 days. Breakfast and dinner. Service is good and food is delicious.

Had an amazing Thanksgiving dinner here with my wife. The place was packed but the food was still amazing and the server was very attentive and helpful. We loved it!

This place! I am VERY picky when it comes to good food. Not only was our food AMAZING but our server Peni was the BEST! We cannot wait to come back from Seattle!

This place was almost completely empty when I entered for breakfast, and that made me question my decision to eat there. I had the eggs benedict, and they were delicious though on the high-priced side. I did not like the chairs that they used at the dining tables semicolon not having a back on a stool makes it very uncomfortable.

My wife and I had breakfast there. Staff were attentive and courteous. Breakfast was great. Open floor plan and natural lighting adds for a nice atmosphere. The big plus was that the music was mostly 70's top 40 and the volume was subdued.

The service is so BAD here. The food is alright. The drinks are decent, but the service is sad. The food is over priced for what you get, expect to wait a long time for your food to arrive once you order. I don’t recommend this place ? This place is covfefe.

We were served pretty quickly, but the food took 45 minutes to get to us. People who arrived later than us got served first too. Check out the Eggs Benedict... or rather, the sad attempt at it.
