The Pickwick Hotel is in a very convenient location near Market Street, making it easy to get around San Francisco. The rooms are a bit old, but they are clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. The staff were friendly and check-in was smooth.

However, the surrounding area can feel a little unsafe at night, so I recommend being careful if you walk around late. Also, the hotel facilities are quite simple compared to newer hotels.

Overall, it’s a good choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a central location.

The room was a bit small, but thankfully the location is in a business center, yet it's quiet at night. It has a coffee machine and a particularly large fridge, giving it a feel of a star-rated hotel. My only issue was during check-in; I parked my car in an alley outside the hotel that was a no-parking zone. I was really anxious to drop off my luggage and move the car, but the two Chinese guests in front of me had some kind of issue and took forever, causing a significant delay. Luckily, I didn't get a fine. The front desk service was quite cold. While American service isn't as good as Japanese, this particular woman made me feel oppressed. Other staff were also cool, but didn't give off that same oppressive vibe. I'm not sure if it's the air of nobility that big city women carry, I can't quite pinpoint it. Overall, it was a very good stay. I even left an unprecedented $5 on the table as a tip for the cleaning lady.

The hotel left a mixed impression. The building itself is quite old, which is noticeable throughout the property. The air conditioning in the room was not working, making it very hot and uncomfortable, especially at night. The gym is also in poor condition — the equipment is outdated and needs renovation.
Housekeeping was consistent, but the cleaner came every morning at 9:00 AM, which was not always convenient and sometimes disturbed our rest.
On the positive side, the hotel has a bar with surprisingly good food — that was definitely a highlight. The staff were also very friendly, polite, and helpful.
Overall, the hotel might be okay if you don’t mind outdated conditions, but for the price, I expected a higher level of comfort.

The location is fantastic, within walking distance to Union Square and close to the cable car stop. The hotel is a bit old, and personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the wooden smell, but airing out the room helped a little.

The hotel's location is excellent, with a large supermarket and many restaurants nearby. However, the soundproofing in the rooms is poor, and bottled water is not provided, so you'll need to bring your own.

nice and clean but dated rooms. good security with locked doors though!

Overall, the stay was good. It's located close to the BART station. When I arrived, I had trouble opening the shower as a part was damaged, which I reported to the front desk. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I hope to receive my security deposit back. I would recommend it again, and for my first time in San Francisco, I would stay here again.

Pros: Great central location with easy access to transportation. The hotel has key card access and a gym. Cons: The room facilities are a bit old, and there's no dedicated space for luggage. There are homeless people downstairs, but it's generally safe. Soundproofing is poor; street noise, especially loud cars, can be disruptive. The room lights are motion-sensor activated and turn off automatically. The bathroom ventilation doesn't work well. No complimentary bottled water. Breakfast is served at the restaurant next door, and tipping can sometimes lead to awkward situations.

The location was great, very close to the city center. However, I did notice quite a few homeless people around. Also, be careful in the bathtub as it can be a bit slippery.

Exactly downtown San Francisco, close to Powell BART train station, 2 minutes walk from subway station and cable car terminal, it’s very convenient.
Hotel staff excellent service, room is clean. The only one minor thing is a bit noise when the bus pass by.
No matter what, I recommend.

Good, fairly straightforward gastropub. The lamb was a huge portion, well flavored and falling oh the bone tender, but the veggies were bland. The hot toddy was nice, but the more unusual flavors didn't really come through.

Really excellent brunch, in a splendid restaurant
Slightly let down on our visit by a number of serving errors. Overall recommended for the great food and delicious cocktails, but leave plenty of time and keep an eye on what you receive to make sure it is correct.

Great burgers and sandwiches. Friendly and timely service. Expect longer waits for bigger parties.

A bit loud, but nice and fast service and good food (had brunch). Interesting selection of beers, wine and cocktails

Nice ambiance, and the food was mostly good. Pasta with pancetta and tomato sauce was tasty. Avoid the chocolate torte, though; not much flavor.

An Italian restaurant nested within a corridor provides a quiet experience. This place is suited for intimate dining and not so much large parties. This is also reflected in the menu where there is roughly 20 menu choices to pick from which they have ensured that they do well to produce authentic Italian cuisine.

The food was great and its handmade efforts were noticeable in their Fettucine and Mushrooms dish. From observing other patrons dishes, the selection is borderline tapas. This may not satisfy customers with a desire for quantity.

For its pricing and quality of food, it is a well-balanced for occasional outings in San Francisco. Food and drink will set you back around $20

One of the better Italian places in the city. Good high-quality authentic Italian fare. They also have truffles and $500 bottles of wine available if you really want to go all out.
11.11.2017 Paul
It's not quite like the food in Italy, but it's pretty darn good. The execution is very Italian and authentic but the ingredients here, even in the bay area, are just not as fresh as Italy's.

We had a zucchini appetizer, a bucatoni pasta with tomato sauce, porchetta, and a ricotta cheese berry tort. The highlights are the porcheta and the dessert. Both are nearly like what we had in Italy...

Sat at the bar since I hadn't made a reservation. Bartenders were very friendly and quick with recommendations. the oxtail was exceptional.

Had catfish and collards. Walked in on NYE and sat at the bar. Very good food, authentic down-home and I say that coming from Louisnana. Good service. Good experience overall.

Good fried chicken! Not your dry or greasy chicken. The staff was fast and professional. Big thank you Farmer Brown.
15.11.2017 Tiffany
Farmerbrown is a slow, home-cooking kind of place, with Southern staff and good Southern food. The place is big and spacious, and the food is made with quality ingredients and presented well. Add the homemade, green, spicy sauce if you like spice, maybe add some salt as well. I would come once for the experience if you have lots of time, as service tends to be on the slower side of things. They are known for their fried chicken and shrimp and grits here, so if you're a fan, order those!

Almost walked right by it while looking for somewhere to eat. So glad I didn't. One of my new favorite restaurants in town. Everything was great. Amazing food and very friendly staff.

Welcoming hospitality. Great food. Amazing music selection played in the background. Whenever I return to SF, this diner will be one of my first stops.
