Homewood Suites by Hilton Augusta in Augusta

I learned on the day of my arrival that my suite was not available due to construction/flooding. No one contacted me to notify me that I would have no accommodations upon my late arrival. Thankfully, a Hilton reservation agent found something at a different property. I had to pay double because they didn’t have the 2 bedroom suite, but it was a place to sleep for the nights we needed.

We reserved a 2 bdrm suite with a King and 2 queens and 2 full bathrooms. Our group had 4 adults. We were placed on a floor being renovated. One of our bathrooms was missing a shower curtain rod & curtain so no bathing in that bathroom. No other rooms were available so we all had to shower in one bathroom and that shower leaked through the doors badly. Plaster was on the floor. The light fixture above the dining table was not installed and was just wires. Shampoo, conditioner, soap dispensers were resting in the floor. The handle on the entry door was installed upside down . Poor experience and we were also told since we booked through *******, they could do nothing for us. BEWARE of this hotel.

Management was attentive but general staff appear to be annoyed or apathetic to customer experience. The breakfast food was arguably the worst I have experienced at any hotel chain. Eggs and sausage were disgusting.

While I’ll applaud their efforts for having a happy hour that allows you to access to free beers and wine, for food the option was boiled hotdog that were of poor quality andnot even fully cooked.

1st room had broken AC, called lobby, asked to stay in room, 96 degrees, I insisted to be moved. 2nd room had broken, sunken in, stained mattress I couldn’t sleep on, asked for a replacement mattress, the replacement is not stained, but 10 years old like the other one, very uncomfortable. Bedcovers are old mattress covers cut up, and don’t fit the bed. The hotel told me they don’t accept my corporate card for incidental charges like a soda from the lobby, a first in all my years of travel. I was told my company would need to contact the hotel for my incidentals to be covered, their company policy. They are not very nice about how they handle my requests, I work for a global company. The hot breakfast smells bad, not properly cooked, nobody eats it, something is definitely wrong. Stay somewhere else!

It was pretty old and in need of an update. It seems that people who live there come to the pool. It overall was not worth the price. Changed my opinion of homewood suites.
