I had a very satisfying stay this time. The hotel is near Hoan Kiem Lake's Old Quarter, which is very lively at night. The French architectural style is distinctive, luxurious, and elegant. The service was particularly outstanding; the staff were warm, professional, and communicated well in English. They were also proactive in assisting with practical needs like calling a taxi, which really enhanced the experience. The breakfast selection was rich. Overall, both the environment and service met high standards.

The Sofitel Legend Metropole left me with the best impression of Hanoi.

If I had one must-do during my trip to Vietnam, the Sofitel Legend would definitely be it! If I could only choose one hotel in Hanoi, I would vote for it without hesitation ✨

🏛️ Location | Living in the Heart of History
It's located right in the absolute city center of Hanoi, with the Opera House just outside. Hoan Kiem Lake is a 5-minute walk away. From my window, I could see the fig and plane trees of Lenin Square. The hotel itself is a historic building from 1901. Staying here means immersing yourself in half of Hanoi's modern history.

🕴️ Service | Aristocratic Butler Experience
Upon entering, there's no need to check in at the front desk. A butler provides one-on-one service at the sofa seating area. Their spoken English is super clear! After the formalities, you're escorted to your room, where they meticulously explain the hotel and in-room facilities. Turndown service subtly leaves a handwritten card and Vietnamese snacks. Upon check-in, you receive a complimentary drink that can be redeemed for coffee or cocktails at any of the hotel's three restaurants.

🛋️ Stay | French Elegance in Every Corner
I stayed in an Opera View Suite, and opening the window revealed lush greenery and white buildings. The bathroom had a red and white color scheme and was quite spacious, though it only had a bathtub shower. The furniture space wasn't large, but there were two luggage racks, so it didn't feel cramped. Lounging on the velvet sofa, eating coconut candy and watching the night view, was pure bliss. However, to get more value for your money, you still need to venture out, like enjoying breakfast in the glass conservatory, having afternoon tea by the pool, or browsing the Hermès boutique within the hotel. There's also a free historical tour every day at 6 PM.

If you're planning a trip to Hanoi, please reserve at least one night for the Sofitel Legend. Compared to the 'bustle' and 'mess' of the Old Quarter, this place feels more like a highly private personal garden. It's not just 'staying in a hotel'; it's experiencing a flowing French legend.

I booked what I assume was the smallest double room, and it was indeed a bit cramped. There was only one sink, no bathtub, and the showerhead was awkwardly positioned. The breakfast selection was decent, and some of the homemade items were quite tasty. On the first morning, I asked for milk with my Vietnamese coffee and Earl Grey tea, but they arrived without it, so I had to ask the server to bring it later. The next day, the server proactively brought condensed milk with the Vietnamese coffee and milk with the Earl Grey tea, showing a clear difference in attentiveness between staff members. One day, it was drizzling when I left, so I grabbed an umbrella from the hotel. Turns out it wasn't a hotel umbrella, and when I returned, the doorman pointed it out to me. I thought, 'I haven't even asked you about it, how come you didn't notice this before?' It felt like some of the staff weren't as detail-oriented as they should be.

This hotel boasts a pure French style, incredibly elegant and refined. The Capella is right across the road, and I highly recommend dining at either the Sofitel or the Capella, as Hanoi's food scene beyond a few street snacks isn't particularly impressive. The hotel rooms are very comfortable, and the staff are all incredibly warm and helpful, readily assisting with reservations and taxis. It's also conveniently located for walking to nearby attractions. Both the cleanliness and breakfast live up to the legendary high standards, making for a truly wonderful stay experience.

Had a good experience, and the location is very convenient.

I brought my parents to Vietnam for Chinese New Year, and this hotel's location was excellent. It was a 10-minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, less than 900 meters away. St. Joseph's Cathedral was a 15-minute walk, about 1.1 kilometers. The Hanoi Opera House was just over 300 meters away, and it's also a stop for the double-decker sightseeing bus. The History Museum was about 700-800 meters away. On top of that, the hotel itself offered an English-language historical tour, which was very good. On New Year's Eve, Hoan Kiem Lake had fireworks, and it was incredibly crowded. Being able to walk back to the hotel after watching the fireworks was incredibly convenient. The hotel has two restaurants for breakfast, but the variety isn't huge; we ate there for four days, and the selection felt a bit limited. All the staff were very enthusiastic. We booked a twin room in the Opera Wing; it was a bit small, but overall, we were very satisfied.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Everything was perfect – the ambiance was elegant and vintage, and the service was warm and appropriate. I also took part in the hotel's tour. The in-house French restaurant, Bamboo Bar, and La Table were all fantastic. I hope to come back and experience the hotel's spa next time.

This is Hanoi's most historically legendary hotel, originally opening in 1901 as the Grand Metropole Hanoi, and becoming the world's first Sofitel Legend in 2009. I recommend staying in the Historical Wing, specifically a Premium Luxury room facing the garden pool, as they are significantly larger. Outside the hotel, you'll find one of the old quarter's most upscale and popular Instagram hotspots, where beautifully dressed and exquisitely made-up women come to pose for photos with each other or hire photographers to capture their best angles. Nearly all of Hanoi's few remaining luxury boutiques are located on the ground floor of the hotel and along the street leading to the Opera House. Amidst these shops, you'll also spot old buildings and cigarette stalls at alley entrances, creating a truly unique urban landscape.

This French-style hotel is located in the city center, right above a luxury shopping street, and across from the Capella Hotel. It's clean and hygienic, the breakfast tastes great, and the service is very attentive.

The room was clean and hygienic, and the service was very welcoming. The breakfast was abundant. The room was comfortable and quiet. This was a fantastic experience for a business trip. Overall, a very satisfying stay.
